by 早日暴富Chapter 254: A Nobody Crooks His Finger, and a Sugar Daddy Turns into a Lapdog 25
"Brother Lin, next time you can't just rush out without sunglasses. I tried to stop you but couldn't."
In the car, Xixi kept rambling on about the things she needed to watch out for now that he was a star.
The more Lin Huaiqing listened, the more troublesome it all seemed. Eventually, he just gave up entirely.
"Honestly! It's better off not being famous at all. Why is this so much trouble?"
If his fan base kept growing, wouldn't his personal space get completely squeezed out?
He'd be living under everyone's watchful eyes at all times.
"Brother Lin, what star doesn't want to be more famous? Your career is just taking off—it's only going to get bigger from here on out."
"Ah... Xixi, I really have to thank you this time. Please keep an eye out for me in the future too—make sure you hold them back."
He really didn't want to be grilled by a crowd again.
"Don't worry, Brother Lin! No problem! I may be skinny, but I'm actually pretty strong."
When they reached the drop-off point, Lin Huaiqing put on the sunglasses and mask Xixi had prepared for him, looking around nervously.
Only after confirming no one was paying attention to him did he slip out of the car.
How come other celebrities could walk out boldly and command the spotlight, but when he became a so-called star, he felt like a thief sneaking around?
"Brother Lin, you're... you're all set now. With the sunglasses and mask on, no one should recognize you."
Only then did he dare stand up straight and head to the spot where he'd agreed to meet Qin Song.
From a distance, Qin Song spotted Lin Huaiqing in his sunglasses right away. There was also an unfamiliar man beside him.
Qin Song picked up his pace, but just as he reached Lin Huaiqing's side, the stranger blocked his path.
"Sorry, we're not doing interviews."
Xixi, having just been praised by Lin Huaiqing, took her duty even more seriously, shielding Lin Huaiqing completely with her body.
Lin Huaiqing: "Xixi, he's... uh..."
Xixi: "Sorry, sir, please move aside!"
Lin Huaiqing: "He's not a fan—you really don't need to block him! He's my... uh... friend..."
He thought for a moment but couldn't decide how to refer to Qin Song in front of Xixi. In the end, he settled on "friend."
Qin Song was baffled, question marks practically appearing above his head.
But when he heard Lin Huaiqing call him a "friend," his expression froze. A hint of mischief crept onto his face.
He stepped past Xixi and pulled Lin Huaiqing into his arms, marking his territory:
"Sorry, but I'm his boyfriend."
At those three words, Lin Huaiqing's eyes went wide. He wanted to shove Qin Song away to set the record straight, but he was afraid of hurting Qin Song's feelings.
Besides, Qin Song wasn't wrong—they really were a couple now.
"Alright, Xixi, you can head back. Nothing much going on this afternoon—clock out for the day." Lin Huaiqing waved a hand, giving Xixi the rest of the day off.
A regular employee would probably love a boss like him, right?
Xixi's fair-skinned face flushed bright red in an instant. She glanced at her artist, then at the tall, sturdy man, and bid Lin Huaiqing a dazed goodbye.
So the rumors online were true after all?
That man was Qin Song, the CEO of Aurora.
Which meant her artist was basically the boss lady of Aurora Company?
When Sister Li sent her over, she'd told her Brother Lin had connections, but she never expected them to be this solid!
This was way more impressive than any artist she'd worked with before.
After sending Xixi off, the two of them finally had a chance to chat.
"That was your assistant back there?"
"Yeah. Why did you tell him you're my boyfriend? Don't you know public figures have to be careful what they say?" Lin Huaiqing shot him a glare, repeating the advice Xixi had whispered in his ear earlier.
Clearly, Qin Song didn't think he'd done anything wrong.
"Since he's your assistant, she must have signed a confidentiality agreement."
"And the Weibo post? You just posted it without thinking?"
"You saw that?"
No duh—he couldn't avoid it even if he tried; the comment section was practically screaming at him.
The two had finally managed to meet up away from the fans, and Lin Huaiqing didn't want to spend the whole time scolding Qin Song.
They first went to a fairly private restaurant for a meal, then went to a private cinema to watch a movie.
They basically did everything couples are supposed to do. Except...
"Really, we can't?"
"Nope!"
"Fine, then..." Qin Song reluctantly set down the remote.
Lin Huaiqing was just so busy—by the time they finished one movie, it was already dark. When Qin Song wanted to start a second one, Lin Huaiqing was in a hurry to get home.
Just as Qin Song was feeling a bit dejected about that, Lin Huaiqing, without any warning, swung a leg over and straddled him.
Qin Song, who'd been single for thirty years, instantly widened his eyes, his body reacting on its own.
Finally—was Lin Huaiqing actually making the first move?
Qin Song's heart pounded wildly, about to leap out of his chest. But then he watched as Lin Huaiqing barely lingered on him for a second before swinging right back off of him and off the bed.
"Heh heh, my shoes are over here."
"..."
A deafening silence.
He should've known better than to expect Lin Huaiqing to make the first move.
"What are you just sitting there for? Come on, take me back to the office!" Lin Huaiqing said, grabbing Qin Song's hand and trying to yank him out of bed to get his shoes on.
But in the process, he accidentally touched Qin Song's pulse.
Lin Huaiqing tilted his head, puzzled, and felt it for a few seconds:
"Hmm? Why is your resting heart rate so fast? It's probably around a hundred? You're not secretly having heart problems, are you?"
Qin Song was totally floored by Lin Huaiqing. He yanked his hand back, a little annoyed, and said in a low voice:
"Relax, my heart's in perfect shape!"
"Hey, what's with the attitude? I was just asking!"
The two filed out of the private theater and got into the car.
With his current status, calling a rideshare was risky—he could easily get recognized while waiting, like what happened today.
But he couldn't drive, so he had to bum a ride from Qin Song.
Since they were on a date, Qin Song couldn't bring his driver, so he had to play chauffeur and drop Lin Huaiqing off at his office.
Thanks to that little spat earlier, Qin Song kept his eyes on the road the whole way and didn't say a word.
It wasn't until they were about to get out of the car that Lin Huaiqing mentioned he'd be heading back to his hometown in a few days.
His hometown wasn't too far from the capital, but it was out in the boonies. The trip would probably take a week or so.
Unexpectedly, Qin Song didn't hesitate at all and said, "I'll go with you."
"No." The original owner's parents were quite conservative. He had been with Fei Xiu for so many years, and the original owner never dared to tell his parents.
If they found out, wouldn't they break his legs? And Qin Song's too, while they're at it.
"Going back home is a pain—fly, then a train, then a bus, then a long walk. A rich guy like you couldn't hack that kind of grind."
