Chapter 139: Invisibility
by 煜素Chapter 139: Invisibility
Ye Bai came at night.
In the darkness, Haiyue City lay silent, while he stood atop the tallest building, surveying the city.
Under the moonlight, two massive wings faintly emerged behind him.
As the wind blew, the wings flapped, and visible black waves rippled around.
"Demon, this is definitely a demon!" Dong Ju, who was outside with Baiyu, sensed the commotion and hid with him in a corner, watching the scene on the rooftop. Dong Ju said firmly.
"Go back and inform the Emperor and the princess," said Baiyu.
"What will you do? Even if you’re skilled in martial arts, you won’t be able to resist him if he’s truly a demon," Dong Ju was worried.
"I can’t let him near the young princess. His target is surely the young princess. I’ll draw him away, and you go for help. With Master Jing'en and the Emperor, they should be able to protect the princess," Baiyu said, and without waiting, he headed out first.
Ye Bai gazed toward the City Lord’s residence, considering whether to go now or wait until later.
Sure enough, from the City Lord’s residence, he saw golden light slowly emanating from a room, enveloping the entire mansion. Ye Bai realized it wouldn’t be easy to approach for now.
Was it due to a powerful person inside, or was the little girl truly that formidable?
"Whoosh!"
A shadow darted in front of Ye Bai, and several gleaming blades shot towards his eyes.
Ye Bai leaned back, dodging the daggers, and then he dashed forward, pursuing the figure.
His movements are so swift, his skills must be razor-sharp. It’s not the right time to seek out that little girl just yet; he should deal with one matter first.
Not long after Nightwhite departed, a small figure swiftly darted towards the City Lord’s mansion.
Winterchrysanthemum moved cautiously under the eaves of other houses; the night watchman on the street only sensed something flash by but saw no one.
"Your Majesty, Princess, he’s here," Winterchrysanthemum burst into the meeting hall of the City Lord’s mansion and reported to the masters.
"He’s here? Where’s Whitefeather?" Princess Xiaoyue turned to look outside and said, "Did Whitefeather go to look for him?"
"Yes, Your Majesty, Princess. Should we hurry over there?" Winterchrysanthemum asked anxiously.
"Go find Master Jing’en!" said Xiaoyin as he stood up and headed to the next room.
In the next room, Jingyu was caring for Xiao Xi’er.
Xiao Xi’er was brought to the next room by her old disciple after waking up from a nap following her evening milk.
Mo Jingyu and Eunuch Gao were also present.
However, Eunuch Gao was often dispatched by Master Jing’en to attend to the Emperor in the next room; the two were quite mysterious.
When Xiaoyin and Xiaoyue arrived at the next room, they stood at the door, stunned.
In the room, only Mo Jingyu was quietly organizing various talismans scattered across the table; the window was open, but the old and young duo had vanished.
"Jingyu, where’s Xier?" Xiaoyin asked hurriedly.
"Gone out," Mo Jingyu replied calmly.
"When did this happen? From where did they leave?" Xiaoyue also hurriedly stepped forward, asking anxiously.
"From the main gate." Jingyu said.
"So, you mean they left through the door, not the window?" Xiao Yin asked.
"No, not the window." Jingyu shook his head.
"This..." Xiao Yin gritted his teeth and turned to leave. Xiaoyue ran out at the same time, dragging Jingyu along. "Why didn’t you speak up? Why didn’t you tell us? Didn’t you always enjoy taking care of Xier? Why are you so quiet now?"
"They used an invisibility spell." Jingyu said.
"What do you mean?" Xiaoyue stopped and looked at Jingyu, curiously. "You mean they became invisible? With those talismans? Master Jing'en drew invisibility talismans, didn’t he?"
"Yes!" Jingyu nodded.
"That old monk, why is he acting like a child at his age? It’s dangerous for them to go out like that. Even if they were invisible, the baby wasn’t dressed warmly. Doesn’t he realize how cold it is outside? And Ye Bai is quite capable; how could he not see through the invisibility spell?"
Xiao Yin caught up and, hearing his sister’s worried words, said, "Don’t worry, Master Jing'en’s skills are beyond what an ordinary person can handle!"
"That old man, why has he become so reckless in his old age?" Xiaoyue stomped her foot and quickly chased after them.
Dong Ju, Nurse Jin, and Eunuch Gao all arrived.
Even Yuan Hui and Bei Di came out. Although Bei Di wasn’t very skilled in martial arts, he joined them.
"Bang! Bang!"
In the distance, several streaks of light flashed, and a figure flew over.
"Baiyu!" Eunuch Gao gasped softly, then quickly moved forward and caught him.
Baiyu landed, wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth. Gritting his teeth, he said, "Your Majesty, don’t get close to him. He’s not human; he carries a demonic aura."
"Hah, the great Emperor of Great Wei!" A soft scoff followed, and a dark figure flashed, appearing in front of them.
"Ye Bai, so you’re actually a bat!" Xiaoyue said, looking at the dark afterimage.
"They say that the Princess Royal of Great Wei is the most beautiful woman and has been wise since childhood. As an Imperial Tutor, I don’t see much wisdom in you. Otherwise, how could you..." Ye Bai was saying when suddenly a gust of wind hit his face, and he immediately turned his head.
"Slap!"
But he still didn’t avoid the slap.
"Who is it?" Ye Bai was hit with a hard slap, and his face instantly swelled.
Even Xiaoyue couldn’t help but twitch her mouth. She wanted to blame someone but couldn’t.
"Slap! Slap!"
Two more slaps landed, and Ye Bai’s face quickly swelled into a pig’s head.
"Damn it, damn it! Who is plotting against me!" Ye Bai raised his hand, sending gusts of wind in all directions. "Old baldy Jing'en, show yourself! What kind of skill is it to hide using invisibility?"
"Amituofo!" A Buddhist chant came from the side, and the next moment, Ye Bai’s gust of wind was met with a strike.
"Tsk!"
A silver needle pierced his palm, and white smoke instantly rose from it.
"Cackle cackle cackle!"
As the laughter echoed, Jing En and Ruo Xi Baby both emerged.
"Sss!"
Night Bai glanced down at his palm, his brows furrowed deeply: "Bone-eroding heart-piercing needle, hmpf, you demon, quite the feat!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Night Bai slapped his hand, flinging the needle away.
The needle struck the ground, producing a plume of white smoke.
"Someone, take him down!" Xiao Yin ordered coldly.
Immediately, a squad of black-armored guards closed in around him.
"No need, Your Majesty. Stand down, everyone." Jing En said.
