Chapter 529: This Time, He Must Be Dead for Good

Everyone was watching the void nervously.

Ruo Xi Baby was also staring intently, her little lips pressed tightly together. Unseen by anyone, a luminous white aura slowly drifted upward from her body toward the void.

    "Crash!"

Rooftiles shattered all around, and many townsfolk, though inside their homes, screamed in terror at the earth-shattering upheaval outside.

"When will this end? Could Qiu Chanzi be like Bai Cangming—impossible to kill?" Hongmei muttered worriedly.

"I'll join too!" General Yuan Hui patted Hongmei’s shoulder reassuringly before gripping his broadsword and soaring into the air.

"Kid, how’s that fair for you all to gang up on me like this?" Qiu Chanzi’s voice echoed down from above.

"Me, ganging up on you? Master, back when they outnumbered me, why didn’t you speak up then? Now that it’s happening to you, suddenly it’s wrong, is that it?" Ruo Xi Baby shook her head. "Payback’s a bitch!"

With that, she turned and walked into the inn room without another glance.

Truthfully, she hadn’t rested much since descending from Kunlun Mountain.

These past few days, she had been pondering one thing: Why did Qiu Chanzi appear on Kunlun Mountain? How was he connected to Bai Cangming? And why had he never shown himself before?

So, she was exhausted. Utterly exhausted.

Ruo Xi Baby returned to her room, lay down, and fell asleep instantly, paying no further attention to the chaos outside.

Xiao Ruilin and Xiao Yuze went upstairs, joining Hongmei in keeping watch by their sister’s bedside.

    Until, roughly six hours later—

Just as Hongmei was nodding off by the bed and Xiao Yuze and Xiao Ruilin had slumped to the floor in sleep, a thunderous boom jolted them awake.

"What in the sky is that?" someone outside shouted.

"That’s some kind of flying bird—must be a mythical creature!"

"That bird has a human face! Even its limbs are human-like! But why does it have wings on its back?"

Ruo Xi Baby was roused by the shouting. Before the battle outside had begun, the inn had been occupied by guests who had been staying there for days. However, they had been warned not to go outside since yesterday. So when the fighting started, they had hidden in their rooms, cracking the door open a sliver to peek outside.

Now, the spectacle outside made them forget their danger entirely, and they craned their necks for a better look.

"Oh no, have they all come out?" Ruo Xi Baby bolted upright, scrambling to her feet while brushing off Hongmei and her brothers.

Her stubby legs carried her swiftly toward the door.

"Little Princess, slow down!" Hongmei hurried after her, draping an outer garment over the little girl’s shoulders.

This little one truly had no regard for proper decorum—though, of course, the Princess Royal and His Majesty only cared that she grew up safe and sound. Whether she was refined or not was the least of their concerns.

"Away!" Ruo Xi Baby flung open the window and immediately spotted the giant bird-like beast wheeling overhead. Without hesitation, she flicked a spell tag into the air, marked with a smear of blood from her pinky.

The flying beast froze at the sight of the spell tag, dodging frantically.

Yet the spell tag seemed to have a mind of its own, orbiting it relentlessly.

Finally, as the bird wheeled around, the talisman clung to him instantly.

"Little girl, you actually combined the skill of beast taming with talismans. You're really something else, surpassing your master!" Qiu Chanzi's voice echoed from the void.

"That's only because you taught me so well, Master!" Ruo Xi Baby leaned on the windowsill, gazing at the figure. "If you stop now, I'll look after you!"

"There’s no turning back. I’m about to become a demon—what can you do to stop me?" As his words fell, a dark aura began radiating from Qiu Chanzi’s body.

"Qiongqi, go! Capture him!" Ruo Xi Baby shouted at the massive bird perched across the way.

    "Screech~"

With a sharp cry, Qiongqi beat its wings and swooped down on Qiu Chanzi.

"Don't bother, kid. I've got this!" Before Ruo Xi Baby could react, Qiongqi had already seized Qiu Chanzi, while General Lü and Yuan Hui ran him through.

The cleaver and spear pierced Qiu Chanzi’s flesh, and with the poison from Qiongqi’s claws, even if Qiu Chanzi had a divine body, there was no coming back from this.

"Master!" Ruo Xi Baby shrieked as she threw herself from the window.

Below, Xiao Yin saw the scene and immediately sprang up to catch the little girl.

Then, the little girl took off running down the street from Xiao Yin’s arms.

Qiu Chanzi fell to the ground, his snow-white robe soaked with crimson blood...

Ruo Xi Baby burned her master’s body!

"This time, he should be truly dead, right?" Ruo Xi Baby sighed, rooting through the ashes with a small stick.

The sight would creep anyone out.

Yet, the little girl spoke as casually as talking about spoiled produce.

"Xier, that’s enough. After burning for so long and crushing it countless times, there shouldn't be anything left to worry about," Consort Xian said as she approached.

"Not necessarily. He’s always been cunning," Xiao Yin remarked.

With that, he personally crushed the ashes again, making Xiao Yuheng and his brothers grimace—their old man was seriously hardcore.

Indeed, spending too much time with Xiao Xi'er was rubbing off on everyone.

Nearby, General Lü sat clutching his chest, with Yuan Hui and Bai Qi at his side. They had been injured in Qiu Chanzi’s self-detonation, having poured their energy into shielding the citizens of the entire Imperial City from his explosive force.

Qiu Chanzi had chosen a suicide attack.

He never thought he would die. Ever the arrogant one, he believed that since he had survived a thousand years ago, he could do so again now.

Yet, the Qiongqi he summoned had turned against him at the little girl’s command, and General Lü and Yuan Hui were tougher customers than he'd bargained for.

So, in the end, he chose to self-destruct.

He was certain that his explosion would level the entire Imperial City and everything around it. Even if Ruo Xi Baby and the others escaped, the regular folks wouldn't stand a chance.

Thus, Qiu Chanzi was convinced this would make Ruo Xi Baby suffer guilt for another century.

But it seemed he was wrong.

These guys were ready to lay down their lives for the people.
