Chapter 6: Don’t Regret It
byChapter 6: Don’t Regret It
As dusk fell and it was time for dinner, Su An appeared at home punctually again.
Somehow, Ji Qingqing had persuaded Su Jianjun not to pick on her, though he still didn’t have a pleasant expression.
"Oh, eating, are we?"
Liu Huilan walked in with her youngest son, Su Bai. Behind her, Lin Zhaodi ran over with a baby in her arms, eager to see what was going on.
Lin Zhaodi had given birth to two sons and a daughter. Her eldest son was Su Jianjun, the second was Su Jianguo, and the youngest was a daughter named Su Jianfen.
Su Jianjun and Su Jianguo had already divided their households, but they still lived in the same building.
Su Jianjun had four children. Su Ping and Su An were born to a rural wife during his time in the countryside, while Ji Qingqing brought Su Jiao with her, and they later had a son named Su Lei.
Su Jianguo and Liu Huilan also had two sons and a daughter. Their eldest, Su Wan, was already married to Yang Yanfei. The baby in Lin Zhaodi's arms was Su Wan’s. Their second child, Su Qian, was a girl still in school. The third child, Su Bai, was the one by Liu Huilan’s side.
Ji Qingqing pulled out a chair for Liu Huilan and Lin Zhaodi. "Mom, have you eaten? There’s not much good food at home, but if you don’t mind, would you like some more?"
Lin Zhaodi glanced at the table. "No, I’ve already eaten."
Liu Huilan sat down with her youngest son. "Big brother and sister, please continue eating."
"Here’s the thing. As you know, Su Bai is about to take his exams, but his grades have always been lagging, especially in composition. Today, his teacher even kept him after class."
"Now, Su An used to be really good at writing compositions when she was in school. I remember once she even won an award at the provincial level!"
"So, I thought, since we’re family after all, maybe Su An could tutor him a bit? We don’t expect her to make him a prodigy, but it would be great if he could win an award too, bringing honor to our Su family, don’t you think?"
Su Jianjun nodded calmly. "She’s only good for this. Alright, Su Bai can stay here. Tomorrow’s a rest day anyway, so let your sister give him some lessons."
Su An rolled her eyes. "I don’t have time. Who said I would teach him?"
What a nerve, asking me to tutor him to win an award. Does she even know what Su Bai is like?
Lin Zhaodi glared. "When your aunt asks you to tutor Su Bai, it’s because she thinks highly of you. Look at your attitude! You have no manners at all. Typical of someone from the countryside. What’s so important that you’re always running around?"
"As his sister, it’s your duty to help him with his homework, even if it means pushing aside whatever you have going on. After raising you for so long, we never expected you to turn out so ungrateful. Maybe we should have left you in the countryside..."
Humiliated by Su An in front of his family, Su Jianjun glared at her darkly. "You think you can keep acting up? These next few days, you’re not going out to cause trouble. You’re going to help Su Bai and Su Lei with their homework. Even if it were a stranger asking for help, you’d still owe it to us to help."
"I said, I don’t have time. If he’s bad at writing, why don’t you hire a tutor? Why are you asking me?"
Su Jianjun slammed his hand on the table. "This family is still under my control. Do you even respect me as your father?"
"If you can’t teach, just give them the essays you wrote before and let them copy them."
"Even if you marry and leave, don’t forget—you’re still part of this family!"
Su An lowered her head, a flash of cold light in her eyes. "Fine, I’ll teach."
She would teach seriously, but with a child like Su Bai, even with good teaching, success wasn’t guaranteed.
After the meal, Su An took Su Bai and Su Lei into the room.
Citing the need for a quiet environment, she closed the door.
Su An gave the two of them a cold, hard look, calling them out as the real ingrates.
In her past life, she had poured her heart into helping her younger brothers, but what did it get her?
They dared to use her brother to threaten her, forcing her to help her enemies with their studies. Well, she wouldn’t hold back anymore.
She hoped they wouldn’t regret today’s decision, because she would make sure everyone knew what kind of “talents” she had taught!
"You know my essays were the best in school. Listen up, remember this, and live by it," she said.
Then, Su An began to tell them stories, specifically about villains. She emphasized that life was short, and one shouldn’t live it feeling wronged—one should believe they are the greatest.
Her stories got Su Bai and Su Lei all fired up.
"Do you understand? I’m the boss, and no one’s going to tell me otherwise. If someone doesn’t like it, then stand up to them. As men, we stand tall and proud."
"Your parents put you on this earth, so they owe you a good life. For example, Su Bai, what if your mom doesn’t buy you meat? That’s when you should throw a tantrum and demand she buys it!"
"Your sister isn’t just great at writing essays, I know a lot of other things too!"
"I’m telling you, you need to be brave. So, if there’s something you want to do, go ahead and try it!"
"Can you imagine how cool that would be? If your classmates knew, they would definitely look up to you, treating you like a hero."
"People who stand up to bullies become legends, even if you just talk about it."
"Life is short, only a few decades. Why do some people get forgotten after they die, while others are remembered for hundreds of years?"
One story after another, Su An’s twisted ‘motivation’ got under their skin—and even made her feel like she was awakening some hidden power.
Su Bai and Su Lei hung on her every word, their eyes wide with excitement—more focused than they’d ever been in class.
"I don’t know, sister, what happened next?"
…….
Su An said wistfully, "The future will definitely be good for those who know how to fight for themselves."
"He not only made it to the newspapers but also appeared on TV. The whole world knew him, and everyone admired him."
Su Bai’s eyes widened in excitement. "Really, sister? That’s amazing! I want to be a great hero too."
Not wanting to be left behind, Su Lei chimed in, "I’m going to be a man who dares to act and take responsibility, just like you said, sister."
"We need to be brave and try things that benefit ourselves."
Su Bai nodded, "Right, right, right."
Su Lei added, "And you have a brother too. Your brother even has a baby now. In the future, when your parents buy meat, they’ll give it to the baby. Remember last time when you touched the baby’s eyes, and mom hit you?"
Su An nodded lovingly, "Good thinking."
