Chapter 591 Extra – Reunion Again
by 饭碗114Chapter 591 Side Story — Reunited Again
Guangzhou.
At the villa on Yangyu Mountain, the front door was pushed open with a loud bang.
Su An turned her head to see a peacock in full plumage striking a ridiculously flamboyant pose. His hair was slicked back with gel into the trendiest spiky pineapple hairdo of the time. Leaning casually against the doorframe, his elbow propped up, fist pressed against his forehead, he slowly turned his gaze toward Su An.
Music blasted from the car parked outside.
Su An’s facial muscles twitched at the sight of the rose clenched in his teeth. What kind of madness was this now??
Over the years, she had thought her emotions had stabilized, only to end up married to someone who was constantly unpredictable and dramatic.
Zuo Zuying lifted his chin, straightened his posture, sucked in his stomach, and popped his hips, striding toward Su An with Latin dance steps.
Before Su An could react, he snatched the fruit plate from her hands and placed it on a nearby chair. Grabbing her hand, he raised her arm over his shoulder, then began swaying his snake-like waist to the music. With a sudden dip of his head and a dramatic twist, he slithered in a sleek S-curve under Su An’s arm, emerging on the other side.
Su An was completely numb.
Seeing that he was now using her as a pole and gearing up for more gyrating, she quickly protested, "You—"
Zuo Zuying swiftly pressed a finger to her lips, shushing her while he kept dancing. Su An had long given up trying to control him.
Just as Zuo Zuying spun around with the rose in his mouth, ready to kick the performance up a notch, he caught sight of the gobsmacked group on the couch.
Chu Shuyu, Gang Zi, Zuo Jinghuan, Zuo Jingdan, Zhao Zhanjun, Liu Hongtao...
"What the hell?! When did you guys get here? Why didn’t you say anything?!"
Chu Shuyu looked completely mesmerized. "If we had, we wouldn’t have had the chance to witness Boss Zuo’s sultry dance. This is even more shocking than when you kissed Hao Meng back at Wanfang Stone Tower!"
"When are you gonna teach my Gang Zi some moves? Tsk, tsk, tsk~ An An really knows how to live life to the fullest~"
Gang Zi glanced between Chu Shuyu and Zuo Zuying, his tone laced with sarcasm. "No wonder women at this age all go for this type. No wonder he had Dong Dongdong head over heels back in the day. With three kids already, yet still can’t tone it down—what a total flirt."
With that, Gang Zi took a vicious bite of his apple, as if tearing into Zuo Zuying himself.
Nearby, Liu Hongtao and Zhao Zhanjun stared at their brother-in-law as if he were a ghost.
"When did you all arrive? Why didn’t you call ahead?" Zuo Zuying plucked the rose from his mouth and teasingly tucked it behind Su An’s ear before strolling over to them with a smirk.
Zuo Jinghuan’s excitement was barely contained. "Zu Ying, that was amazing! Do another one! You can’t just perform for An An—we want to see it too! Right, Jin Dan?"
Zuo Jingdan held back her laughter but gazed at Zuo Zuying expectantly.
Zuo Zuying waved them off. "Go on, have your man dance for you at home."
Liu Hongtao’s face turned green. "Don’t rope me into this—I can’t do that! Who can move as obscenely as you? Gang Zi’s right, you’re just shameless!"
Zuo Jinghuan wasn’t giving up. "Exactly, my Hongtao can’t do it. You do another one!"
Zuo Zuying shot her a glare. "If he can’t, I’ll take him to Li Meng for a couple of lessons."
"Don’t you dare!!!"
It was the year 2000. Chu Shuyu and Gang Zi had brought their son, Zhao Binbin, to Guangzhou for a summer vacation.
Zuo Jinghuan and Liu Hongtao had also come with their two daughters. The workshop Zuo Zuying had bought years ago was demolished and rebuilt into a three-story garden villa the year he married Su An.
With ample space available, after constructing the house, there was still a sizable parking lot, swimming pool, and garden. The garden featured a slide and swing set for children to play on, along with various flowers and plants meticulously cultivated by Hou Li.
Zuo Jingdan's family had long since moved out after purchasing another house in Yangyu Mountain. After the grandchild arrived, Hou Li visited the kindergarten less frequently, spending most of her time at home taking care of the children and tending to her plants.
The reunion of longtime friends brought great joy. A group of little ones noisily ran off to play in the garden, while Zuo Zuying, Gang Zi, Liu Hongtao, and brother-in-law Zhao Zhanjun headed to the pool at the back to soak.
Su An, along with the two Zuo sisters and Chu Shuyu, occupied the gazebo for tea and casual conversation.
Just like that, so many years flew by—everyone had become mothers now, and when mothers gathered, the most common topic was their children.
Zuo Jinghuan looked at Chu Shuyu and asked, "Shuyu Sis, your Binbin is already ten. Aren’t you and Gang Zi planning for a second child?"
Chu Shuyu smiled. "We haven’t used contraception all these years, but we just never conceived. These things happen naturally. Besides, we already have Binbin—we’re very happy as we are."
Su An glanced at Chu Shuyu, noting her genuine indifference. Although family planning policies were strict at the time, none of them worked in government institutions, so no one actually stopped at just one child.
Zuo Jinghuan, however, wore a troubled expression. "Ah, you’re all so lucky. Those who don’t care about having sons end up with sons, while I married into a family that values sons above all, yet I still haven’t had one."
Su An and Chu Shuyu exchanged glances, their faces full of helplessness. Zuo Jinghuan had lived a smooth life over the years—Liu Hongtao catered to her every whim. But Liu Hongtao was, after all, a local of Yangcheng, where sons were a must.
Zuo Jinghuan had already given birth to two daughters and was now in her thirties. Every time her in-laws saw her, they would make snide comments and veiled insults.
Zuo Jingdan patted her younger sister’s shoulder in understanding. She herself had a son and a daughter and was done having kids. Zuo Jinghuan and Liu Hongtao treated their two daughters well, but in their community, son preference was deeply ingrained—not having one was seen as ending the family line, bringing shame to the man and inviting gossip.
Though Liu Hongtao hadn’t pressured Zuo Jinghuan over the years, she still felt the weight of it.
"You’re still young, and these things depend on fate. Didn’t you and Hongtao both get checked last year? There were no issues."
Su An pressed a hand to her forehead in exasperation. "And you envy me? Do you know how it feels to have your own husband call you a slut to your face?"
The smile on Chu Shuyu’s face faded instantly. "An An?"
Zuo Jinghuan and Zuo Jingdan also grew serious. "An An, you’re joking, right? Last time, my Zu Ying even said that even you putting on your own socks was his fault. He’d dare call you names?"
Su An sighed with resignation. She had given birth to three sons—the youngest was just three months old. When the nurse announced it was another boy, Zuo Zuying cried in frustration, and she nearly did too. It seemed she was destined never to have a daughter. Who doesn’t want one of each?
"It’s not what you think. He asked me how many lovers I had in my past life to end up with three sons now.
As if it’s my fault he was utterly useless in his past life and didn’t have a single lover."
Zuo Jinghuan sighed. "Ah, those who want daughters end up with three sons in a row, while I just can’t have a son no matter how hard I try. Life really isn’t perfectly ideal."
