Chapter 53: Maybe We Should Get a New Mom? Su Jiao Isn’t So Bad
by 饭碗114Chapter 53: Maybe We Should Get a New Mom? Su Jiao Isn’t So Bad
"Alright, everyone shut up!"
Su Jianjun looked towards the door and saw many people peeking in, his face flushed with shame and anger.
"What does this look like? Are you determined to tear this family apart?"
He shouted this at Su An.
Su An rolled her eyes, pretending not to understand, and shouted arrogantly at Su Jiao, "Didn't you hear Dad? You little brat, are you trying to ruin this family?"
Su Jiao's face turned pale. She had just been beaten by Su An, her cheeks already red and swollen from the slaps, her tearful eyes hazy.
Now she looked even more fragile and pitiful, her eyes pleading softly to Su Jianjun.
Su An gave her a disdainful look and said to Ji Qingqing, "Look at your daughter, she's throwing flirty glances at my dad. Is she trying to follow your example and cozy up to some old guy for a better life?"
Su Jiao's expression froze, her pupils shaking, a look of humiliation flashing in her eyes, her entire body trembling with anger.
She gritted her teeth against the pain in her body and said, "Su An, don’t accuse me wrongly! You’re bullying me too much, Mom, I didn’t do anything..."
Su An wore a righteous expression. "I saw everything. You’re trying to seduce Dad, just like your mom did with her flirty ways."
Saying this, Su An turned maliciously towards Su Jianjun. "Dad, maybe we should get a new mom. I think Ji Qingqing isn’t good enough for you. She’s been with so many men and even had kids with them. On the other hand, Su Jiao is an innocent, yellow-flowered maiden. She's eaten your food and drunk your water, grown up under your care, we can't let someone else take advantage of that!"
The more Su An spoke, the more she thought it was a good idea.
These words made Ji Qingqing’s face turn pale with anger.
Su Jiao was terrified, instinctively hiding behind Ji Qingqing.
Gone was the pitiful, wronged, and delicate white lotus appearance from earlier.
Su Jianjun looked darkly at Ji Qingqing and Su Jiao.
He scolded Su An, "What garbage are you spewing? How long are you going to keep stirring up trouble?"
"If you're here just to cause trouble, then get out!"
Su An pouted. "It was Su Jiao who provoked me first. She keeps saying she's the most filial, and I'm not."
"At first, I didn't understand, but now I get it. She wants to replace everyone in your heart and become the most special person to you."
Su An's tone was dripping with sarcasm.
Su Jiao's face turned deathly pale, her grip on Ji Qingqing's arm tightening, her voice filled with fear and panic. "Mom, I didn't, I didn't..."
Ji Qingqing held her daughter's hand in return, comforting her. "I know, I believe you. Su An is crazy, don't listen to her nonsense."
Ignoring the emotional bonding between mother and daughter, Su An explained to Su Jianjun.
"That day, I brought you a knife. Then, while I was hiding out of fear, I saw someone who looked like Su Lei. I chased after him, and it turned out to be him and Su Bai, on their way to the orphanage. They said they had no one to care for them since their parents were dead. I persuaded them to come back."
Su Jianjun eyed Su An suspiciously. After Su An left that day, Su Lei and Su Bai returned, but they came back with the police.
Because of that, he and his second brother’s family were taken to the police station, and the factory had to come and bail them out. He and his second brother were given demerits and publicly criticized by the factory!
He had been hoping for a promotion this year, but now it was all ruined.
"Did you call the cops?" Su Jianjun narrowed his eyes, his tone filled with coldness.
Su An widened her eyes in surprise. "What? They actually called the cops? Su Bai and Su Lei were discussing it—they were afraid you'd spank them, so they wanted to report you to the police."
Su Jianjun stared intently at Su An, as if trying to discern whether she was telling the truth.
Su An raised her hand. "Dad, I swear on my life—if I'm lying, may Ji Qingqing and Su Jiao get hit by lightning!"
Ji Qingqing's chest heaved again. "Su An, are you out of your mind?"
"Jianjun, Su Lei was so young back then, how would he know to call the police? Maybe Su An was the one who did it. Just look at her behavior recently; she harbors a lot of resentment towards our family. Maybe she's trying to stir up trouble because you married her off to the Zhao family. Don't fall for her tricks."
Su An countered with a serious expression. "What you just said is nonsense. The Zhao family is great. Zhao Daxing is a Deputy Director—he treats me well, he's loaded, and he's not that old. I truly love him."
"I should thank you for arranging such a good husband for me."
Ji Qingqing stepped forward. "You don't have to pretend in front of us. Zhao Daxing is old, a divorced man with several kids. How could you possibly be happy?"
Su An looked at Su Jianjun with pity. "Dad, you're really pitiful. When you and Mom were having an affair behind my back, you were in a much worse position than Zhao Daxing. At least he's rich and a Deputy Director. You're older than Zhao Daxing and have achieved even less. If Ji Qingqing didn't even choose Zhao Daxing, why did she choose you?"
"I remember she was already pregnant back then....." Upon saying this, Su An looked as if she had just discovered something shocking and covered her mouth.
"Could it be, like Grandma said, that she was pregnant with someone else's kid and just used you as a convenient dad?"
Ji Qingqing rushed towards Su An in a frenzy. "Su An, you're spouting nonsense. I'll rip your filthy mouth apart for saying such things!"
Su An hid behind Su Jianjun. "See, see, I've hit a nerve—she's angry."
Ji Qingqing was furious, and Su Jianjun was confused and frustrated, his face darkening as he looked between Ji Qingqing and Su An.
Seeing Su Jianjun's darkening expression, Ji Qingqing became even more anxious and impulsively grabbed a ceramic bowl from the table that Su Jianjun had been using for ash and threw it at Su An.
Su An seized the opportunity, using Su Jianjun as a shield. The bowl unfortunately hit Su Jianjun on the head.
"Ow!"
Instinctively, Su Jianjun pushed Ji Qingqing away.
"What are you doing!"
Ji Qingqing couldn't withstand the force and fell backward, her back colliding with the dining table, letting out a scream of pain.
The whole Su family finally quieted down.
Inside the room, Su Jiao was tending to Ji Qingqing's wounds while she was still crying.
"Jiao, did the stitches come undone?"
Su Jiao lifted Ji Qingqing's clothes to check the wound and then sighed in relief.
"Mom, it's not undone—just a bit of bleeding, probably from hitting the table earlier. It's okay, I'll apply some more medicine."
Hearing Su Jiao's words, Ji Qingqing's worried heart finally settled. She had thought she would need a third round of stitches.
Outside the room, Su An grabbed a bottle of herbal oil and rubbed it hard on Su Jianjun's big bump.
Su Jianjun cried out in pain.
Su An continued to rub while comforting him. "Bear with it, bear with it—once it's rubbed out, it'll be fine."
While applying pressure, Su An didn't forget to sow discord.
"You see, when push comes to shove, it's your own blood that really cares about you. Just now, the one who claims to treat you like a father is only looking after her real mom."
