Chapter 540 Kang Honghui
by 饭碗114Chapter 540 Kang Honghui
Under the kaleidoscopic lights and pulsating music, Su An watched with sparkling eyes as Zuo Zuying worked the crowd on stage.
That slutty bastard, but he sure knows how to dress.
Even indoors at night, he wore a hat, a loose V-neck Hawaiian shirt paired with baggy jeans and sneakers.
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Limeng Disco! Let’s get tonight’s music started... *Chain Reaction*..."
As Zuo Zuying’s voice faded, rhythmic music blasted through the venue, and the crowd went wild.
"Shake it~"
Su An cheered and shouted along with everyone in the dimly lit space.
On stage, Zuo Zuying swayed his shoulders to the beat, radiating infectious energy. Though it wasn’t her first time seeing it, Su An had to admit—that arrogant peacock Zuo Zuying actually looked kinda hot when he was showing off.
Once the song ended, Zuo Zuying dragged Su An out of the crowd. "So, fun?"
Su An beamed. "So fun!"
Zuo Zuying chuckled. "Now you're finally acting your age. You know what you look like staring at me right now?"
"What?"
"Like a baby crying for its mama's tit."
"Zuo Zuying, you’re dead!"
"Hey hey, calm down. I’ll tell you now—we've got real business to handle later."
"Weren’t you looking for Brother Kang?"
Su An lowered her raised fist. "He’s here?"
Zuo Zuying checked his watch. "Dunno. Let's head up and see."
They made their way up from the basement and headed to the first-floor ballroom area. Under the dim lights, many danced to senior citizens' ballroom dancing tunes, while others were posted up at the bar and booths.
Zuo Zuying tugged at Su An and pointed to a corner. "See the guy with glasses?"
Su An followed his finger. "That’s him."
The process of publishing books and periodicals was more complicated than registering a regular company. It wasn’t just a commercial activity but a serious responsibility that follows national laws and carries social responsibilities.
Thus, obtaining the necessary qualifications and permits was crucial—and that involved the General Administration of Press and Publication.
Kang Honghui happened to be well-connected inside, making him their best bet for information.
Just then, a staff member in uniform approached. "Brother Zuo, Sister Dong’s been looking for you everywhere. She’s in Room 7—said there’s something about the factory’s opening she needs to discuss."
Su An waved Zuo Zuying off. "Go ahead, handle your business. Brother Kang knows me from last time, and he knows I’m your friend."
Zuo Zuying nodded. "Alright, you go ahead. I’ll see what that Dong Dongdong woman wants."
Kang Honghui was having a casual drink with two men and a woman, and the atmosphere seemed kinda tense. Su An was debating whether to walk over, but Kang Honghui had already spotted her.
He waved. "Xiao Su? What brings you here?"
Su An didn't hesitate anymore and greeted him with a smile, "Brother Kang, long time no see."
Kang Honghui seemed relieved. Ignoring the man and woman sitting across from him, he responded politely, "Long time no see. How have you been lately?"
"Great! And you? How’s your health?"
The woman across from Kang Honghui, noticing his attention was entirely on Su An, sneered, "Oh, are you an escort here? Aren’t you going to introduce yourself?"
Kang Honghui remained silent. Seeing his lack of response, Su An understood he didn’t care for the pair across from him and ignored her as well.
Instead, she turned to Kang Honghui, "Brother Kang, there’s something I’d like to ask you about."
"Oh?"
Just as Kang Honghui was about to speak, the woman across interrupted, "Honghui, what kind of friend is this? So rude. You’re just like before, hanging around with shady people. After getting burned so badly before, and at your age now, still haven’t learned your lesson!"
She then pulled the man beside her closer, "A-Bo, look at her."
The man called A-Bo sized up Su An with unfriendly eyes, "Hey, sweetheart, why don’t you introduce yourself to everyone? We don’t know you."
Su An glanced at Kang Honghui, who lowered his head and took a sip of wine, acting as if it had nothing to do with him.
Su An understood the situation and turned to A-Bo and the woman, "Who are you? Do I know you? I’m definitely not familiar with you—unlike your female companion, who seems to be familiar with every guy in the room!"
The troublemaking woman caught the sarcasm in Su An’s words and immediately stood up, pointing at her, "How dare you speak like that? Who raised you?"
Su An’s temper flared. Out of nowhere, this woman had been sneering at her, calling her riffraff—was she off her meds?
She grabbed the woman’s finger and jerked it back, followed by a sharp scream.
"Ahhh~ It hurts, it hurts! A-Bo, help me~"
A-Bo quickly went to support her, "Qiong Gui!"
Su An kept bending the finger of the forty-year-old old hag, Qiong Gui, until she crumpled to the ground in pain before finally letting go.
"Qiong Gui, Qiong Gui, are you okay?"
The only response was the woman’s ugly crying.
A-Bo looked up at Su An angrily, "How could you just put hands on someone like that? Have you no manners?"
Su An sneered, "Definitely more than you two. You call me an escort out of nowhere—is that your idea of manners? Do I even know you? Why are you crashing the conversation?
I’ve seen people fawn over others, but never seen someone kissing ass this hard. Are you just shameless? You’re the riffraff here. Pointing fingers at people—that’s your idea of manners, right?"
A-Bo, humiliated, shouted, "Manager! Now!"
The manager of the first floor hurried over, smiling politely, "Miss Su, how can I assist you?"
Then, he turned to A-Bo and the woman, his smile vanishing, "Did these guests upset you?"
A-Bo immediately realized Su An wasn’t an ordinary person. The staff here rarely showed respect to anyone—last time someone caused trouble, they were thrown out directly. He quickly waved his hands, "Haha, misunderstanding, all a misunderstanding! You know what they say—no harm, no foul, right? Hahaha~"
"Earlier, we really spoke out of turn. A-Qiong, hurry up and apologize to the young lady. You’re old enough to know better, how can you still be so tactless?"
He yanked his companion’s arm and gave her a meaningful look. The *Li Meng* was a high-end joint—those who came here to have fun were either wealthy or influential big shots.
Even the first-floor manager was kissing this young lady's ass. If they offended someone they shouldn’t have and got thrown out in front of everyone, how could they ever show face in their social circle again?
"My apologies, young lady. I spoke without thinking."
Since they offered a way out, Su An didn’t press further. She had leaned on Zuo Zuying’s clout and couldn’t afford to ruin his business.
"If it’s just a misunderstanding, no harm done. I have something to discuss with Brother Kang. Alright?"
"Sure, sure, go ahead," the guy named A-Bo raised his glass toward Su An from the table before pulling his companion away to another seat.
Su An turned to Kang Honghui, her real smile turned fake.
