Chapter 521: I’m the Most Handsome in the World, Aren’t I Impressive?
by 饭碗114Chapter 521: I’m the Hottest Guy Alive—Bet You’re Proud Now, Huh?
"What the hell are you doing?"
Zuo Zuying’s gaze lingered on Chen Hongyan’s face for a moment. The last time he came to pick up Su An, this woman seemed to be among those blocking her way.
"Damn it, why is it you again, you walking eyesore? Next time I go out, I’ll make sure to stuff two handfuls of holy rice in my pocket. If I see you again, I’ll throw them right at you—you’re a total bad luck charm."
Zuo Zuying roared fiercely, then turned to Su An, his expression instantly softening into a doting, fatherly look.
"What’s wrong, An An? Did they bully you?"
Su An’s lips twitched, barely suppressing a laugh. "No, she was just bragging about her man to me."
Zuo Zuying’s insults were hilarious—throwing glutinous rice at her? She was dying of laughter.
Chen Hongyan finally snapped out of her daze. "Y-you called me ugly?"
Zuo Zuying looked her and Deng Zhangyang up and down twice. "Hmm, ugly mug and wicked vibe—just looking at you brings bad luck!"
As soon as he said this, the onlookers instinctively turned their eyes toward Chen Hongyan’s face.
"She’s really average. When she’s angry, her face twists—kinda looks like..."
"Not really? She’s not stunning at first glance, but she’s the type that grows on you."
Humiliated in front of her crush, Chen Hongyan was seething, her chest heaving violently.
She might not be drop-dead gorgeous, but she *was* the type that grew on you—how could he call her hideous and evil?
The whispers around her only fueled her fury, pushing her toward the brink of losing control. "Get your eyes checked! *You’re* the one who’s hideous and evil! I—I’m the type that grows on you!!"
Zuo Zuying tilted his head. "Oh? But I don’t have the patience to look. Better keep that rice handy."
"Who the hell are you? What right do you have to speak here?"
Chen Hongyan’s lips trembled with rage as she shoved Deng Zhangyang. "Are you just going to stand there while I’m humiliated?"
Zuo Zuying lifted his chin arrogantly, casually draping an arm over Su An’s shoulder. "I already told you—I’m Su An’s loyal dog. Anyone who dares mess with her, I’ll end them!"
Deng Zhangyang, pushed weakly by Chen Hongyan, whimpered, "What’s a loyal dog?"
Zuo Zuying flipped his hair cockily. "It means I’m her dog—at her beck and call, ready to wait on her hand and foot. Whether she acknowledges me or not, I’ll shamelessly stick like glue to her. If she says east, I won’t go west. I’ll give her everything I have, even my life. If anyone dares to upset her, I’ll slaughter them to make her happy—no need for her to even ask!"
Then, with a dramatic flourish, he ran a hand through his hair, striking a pose like the world’s most handsome man. "And *this* is the trash you’re showing off to her? Ever seen a real man before? She wouldn’t even glance at a flawless catch like me—a tall, dark, and loaded, dashing, wealthy, perfect gentleman—so why would she envy your little pretty boy?"
"Even a god-tier hunk like me, groveling at her feet, hasn’t won her over yet. I’ve been dying for a chance to make her happy—so if you’re stupid enough to provoke her now, don’t blame me for going all out."
"And ‘mistress’? Bullshit! I’m young, I’ve kept myself pristine, and I’m devoted—if she nods, she’ll be my queen. *You’re* the mistress! Your whole family’s mistresses!"
"From now on, anyone who dares upset her—I’ll bury you. Got it?!"
Su An glanced at Zuo Zuying’s dead-serious expression, her ears burning faintly.
As if sensing her gaze, Zuo Zuying turned and gave her a slight chin lift and a wink—"Got you swooning yet?"
Before Su An could react, Zuo Zuying snorted at Chen Hongyan’s group, looking ready to kill as he pointed at each of them in turn. "Cross me again and see what happens!"
With that, he grabbed Su An’s hand and strode off.
"Weren't you so tough? Why are you losing your edge outside City A? Did everything I said to you in the car just go in one ear and out the other, like water off a duck's back? [expletives]"
"Stop!"
Su An sharply interrupted Zuo Zuying's words.
"I'm not that tough, but I'm not someone who lets others walk all over me either. To be honest, if you hadn't shown up earlier, I would've already planted my hand across Chen Hongyan's face!"
With that, Su An cast her eyes downward at the hand gripping her wrist.
"Can you let go now?"
Zuo Zuying followed her gaze and only then realized he was holding onto Su An's wrist.
He snatched back his hand, laughing awkwardly, "Hahaha, well, I just saw you getting stopped again and panicked. I mean, we're close enough, and for my kid brother's sake, I couldn't just stand by and watch you get bullied!"
"So, how was my performance earlier? Did it make you proud? I was singing your praises to high heaven!"
Seeing Su An remain silent, Zuo Zuying grew uneasy.
"Uh, I only jumped in because I heard them spreading rumors about us having that kind of relationship. I didn’t want people misunderstanding you, so I shot my mouth off. Don’t sweat it. If it upset you, I’ll apologize."
"If people start gossiping about you..."
Su An shook her head. "Whatever. Gossip doesn't bother me."
She was here to study. Her outward personality was pleasant, her looks turned heads, and she didn’t shy away from spending on clothes or food. Several guys had already been simping for her. If gossip made those orbiting her back off, it’d actually be a good thing for her.
"Alright, thanks for today. You can head back now. I’m here."
Zuo Zuying watched as Su An went up the stairs before turning to leave.
Su An—he was finding her harder and harder to understand. She was only in her twenties, yet her demeanor was preternaturally mature. Was this really how a girl her age should act?
It was as if she’d become jaded about the world, wearing this unreadable mask, nothing stirring much interest in her.
Seemed like he’d need to find a chance to light a fire under her. Youth should be passionate, unrestrained, wild—that’s how you avoid regrets.
Zuo Zuying left, but half a month later, he was back.
His bold declarations at the school gate had indeed spread like wildfire.
Su An was in her dorm when a girl rushed in excitedly. "Su An, Su An! Your lapdog is here, waiting for you downstairs!"
Su An stepped out and looked down from the corridor.
There he was—an attention-grabbing blond.
Zuo Zuying’s short hair was dyed golden, flashy earrings glinting above his ears, the spitting image of a spoiled rich kid.
Spotting Su An leaning over the railing, he waved eagerly. "Su An, Su An! Over here!"
Su An hurried downstairs. "Stop shouting! It’s embarrassing—everyone’s staring. What’s with this ridiculous getup?"
Zuo Zuying ran a hand through his hair with a flourish. "Handsome, right?"
"Disgusting. What's with the dye?"
Unfazed, Zuo Zuying grinned. "You’re so old-fashioned. This is next-level style, the latest trend."
"Enough with the ‘trend.’ Everyone’s gawking at you like you’re a circus act. Standing this close to you, I feel like a monkey too. Just say what you need to say."
Zuo Zuying puffed out his chest, preening like a peacock.
"Well, my shop in Guancheng just opened. I’m taking you there to check it out, show you around."
"Your shop in Guancheng?" Su An frowned, confused.
