    Chapter 547: The Bickering Lovebirds

Su An was nearly fuming, thanks to Zuo Zuying.

She didn’t give a damn if he was crying. She got up, ignored him, and went to wash her face, scrubbing twice with soap before it was clean.

How could she have been so childish as to believe his nonsense?

Zuo Zuying’s gaze followed the chubby—no, Su An—as she moved around.

He kept whimpering, “Ugh, Su An, are you trying to kill me? I’m reporting you for assault!”

    Su An acted deaf.

Zuo Zuying: “Ouch, it hurts so much! You must be a damn rabid dog—ugh, it’s bleeding, the skin’s broken~”

    Su An still ignored him.

Zuo Zuying shoved off the door and wobbled upright. “I’m going to tell Da Meili, I’m telling my second sister—this is bullshit! You’re impossible, so I’ll get them to judge this for me…”

Su An couldn’t take it anymore. She whirled on him, snarling. “You dare!!!”

Zuo Zuying pulled the door open, ready to leave. “I can’t deal with you, so I’ll ask Da Meili to settle this. I’m the damn victim here—I brought you that damn chicken, and you hit me!”

Seeing that he was really about to leave, Su An panicked. She grabbed his arm and dragged him back like a ragdoll.

“Zuo Zuying, got no shame in that thick skull? How old are you? Fighting and then running to tattle to your family? Even Wang Kang and Hou Li from Fuqing Street don’t drag their parents into fights—you’re worse than them! I misjudged you!!!”

Given Zuo Zuying’s weirdo antics, he might actually go and tell Hou Li and Zuo Jinghuan that she’d beaten him up.

The mere thought of that scene made Su An’s face burn red-hot with embarrassment and fury.

Now it was Zuo Zuying’s turn to be stunned. “And now you’re the one who’s upset?”

“Fine, fine! I messed up your face, you bit me and smeared me like this—let’s call it even, okay?”

“So what if you gained eighteen pounds? Look at that long face of yours, long as a donkey’s. I ate the same things—why didn’t I gain eighteen pounds? You eat and don’t move, of course you’d gain weight!”

“I exercise after eating, so I didn’t gain anything. And you blame me? That’s just ungrateful much? If it were anyone else, would I even queue up to buy them roast chicken?”

“Who wants your stupid roast chicken!” Su An snapped.

Zuo Zuying immediately retorted, “Oh, so every damn time I feed you something, you don’t eat it like you’re starving? Now you’re blaming me? No wonder they say women and petty men are the hardest to deal with.”

Su An’s face flushed red. “Bullshit!”

Zuo Zuying fluttered his hands theatrically and said mockingly, “Take a deep breath!”

“AAAAAH, I’M GONNA KILL YOU!!!!” Su An saw red as she lunged at Zuo Zuying.

Zuo Zuying instinctively reached out—BAM! He was knocked to the ground. Just as he registered the soft weight against him, a fist slammed into his eye socket.

    “OW—!”

Zuo Zuying had had enough. He tried to flip her over, only to realize that the deadweight of her fury, all 120+ pounds, made it impossible.

After two failed attempts, he gave up struggling, lying there like a squashed bug.

Su An instantly regretted throwing that punch, but seeing Zuo Zuying trying to push her off, she doubled down on pinning him, afraid that if he gained the upper hand, she wouldn’t be able to fight back.

    Soon, Zuo Zuying went limp.

She slowly loosened her grip. "Xiao Zuo, you know what? Maybe this isn’t worth fighting over. How about we make up? I’ll let you go, but you can’t hit me, okay?"

"As long as you promise, I’ll let go right away. Hell, even you and Jing Huan fight sometimes, right? Plus, you turned me into that monstrosity, called me ugly, and before, whenever we ate together, every time I said I didn’t want more, you still ordered so much for me."

The more she spoke, the angrier she got. "Every damn time you show up, the first thing you say is my name, the next is asking if I’m hungry, then listing a bunch of food for me to choose from. Even if I don’t want to eat, you strong-arm me into it, and after eating, you pack leftovers for me. And now, in no time, I’ve packed on eighteen pounds. Meanwhile, you haven’t changed a bit!"

    "Let me go first..."

    "You promise first—no hitting me."

    "Fine, I won’t hit you."

Zuo Zuying was done at this point. *I can’t even fight back—you’re crushing me; I can’t even budge.*

Getting the answer she wanted, Su An instantly scrambled up, quickly stepping back two paces to put distance between them, eyeing him warily.

Zuo Zuying got up expressionlessly and sat on the floor, having an existential crisis.

He needed to exercise. He needed to train. One day, he’d lift this lil’ chubster with one hand.

He looked up at Su An.

She stood on guard, arms crossed in front of her. "I snapped earlier, but you already promised—truce."

Zuo Zuying said flatly, "I can help you lose weight."

If he could get Su An back to her original hundred-something pounds, he’d definitely be able to flip her over.

Su An nearly rolled her eyes. "Yeah, right. Just now you were saying you’d turn me into a great beauty, like some Gong Xue knockoff. The best you can do is not be a stumbling block on my weight-loss journey. Now take that junk food and get lost."

Zuo Zuying shuffled forward on the floor. "This time, I’m serious. I know my stuff. A proper diet plus exercise—you’ll slim down fast and stay healthy. Don’t get me wrong, you’re cute now, but like you said, excessive weight, too much sugar or greasy food—it’ll wreck your cholesterol and your health."

"Besides, starving yourself isn’t healthy either."

Su An squinted at him skeptically. "Really?"

In no time, the two who had been at each other’s throats were now sitting together, plotting away.

Zuo Zuying held a pen in one hand, pressing down on paper as he jotted down plans, occasionally looking up to say something to Su An.

The next day, they started their plan.

But barely half an hour in, Su An was seeing red.

"Zuo Zuying, stop being a troll! Your so-called 'scientific weight loss' is you riding a bike ahead while I chase after you?!"

"Jesus Christ. After knowing you for so long, I actually fell for your nonsense again. Not a single word you say is reliable!"

"We’re done. From today on, don’t show your face around me. As long as you’re gone, I won’t have to suffer like this. You’re a damn curse!"

Zuo Zuying pedaled back leisurely on his bike. "Comrade Su An, chill."

"What happened to Miss Composed? Why so worked up now? Trust me, this is called a warm-up. Ever heard of it?"

Su An gritted her teeth, raising her fists as she charged at him. "Meeting a jerk like you—who the hell could stay calm?!"

Zuo Zuying sped off on his bike. "Go, Comrade Xiao Su! That’s the spirit! Come on, catch me if you can! Oh-ho, stubby legs ain’t cut out for this~"
