Chapter 100
by 南辿星Chapter 100
"Nice waist?"
Sang Huaiyu smirked, seemingly caught off guard by Xiao Yu's boldness.
So, is this how Xiao Yu sees Him in private?
Hearing the chuckle, Shi Yu froze the moment the words left his mouth.
Damn it, what was he even saying?
Why did he care about Mr. Sang’s waist? Even if it did matter… he shouldn’t have said it out loud.
Shi Yu’s face went rigid, and he quickly averted his gaze, about to step back. But the next second, he heard Mr. Sang say, "If Xiao Yu doesn’t mind, could you help bandage this for me?"
Only then did Shi Yu notice the blood soaking through the white shirt. However, it wasn’t human blood—it was the same silvery divine blood as Sang Huaiyu’s hair, which was why it hadn’t been noticed at first.
Shi Yu shoved aside those inappropriate thoughts and frowned. "Wait a moment."
He hurried to the living room, dug through the medicine cabinet for gauze and alcohol, then returned to the hallway.
This was the first time Sang Huaiyu had felt Xiao Yu’s genuine concern.
Not polite or distant, not wary questions, but natural worry for Him.
Even just watching Xiao Yu’s retreating figure stirred something inexplicable in Him.
Shi Yu didn’t notice at all Mr. Sang’s shifting mood. When he returned, he frowned, realizing how little attention he’d paid to his boyfriend—he hadn’t even noticed the injury.
The room fell silent.
Sang Huaiyu lowered His gaze, watching silently as Xiao Yu treated His wound. Though it was a perfectly normal interaction, the shift in His emotions made even the simplest visual tracing send a slight tremble through His fingertips, barely held back.
After inspecting the wound, Shi Yu swabbed it gently with alcohol before wrapping it with several layers of gauze.
"Done. Just keep it dry for the next few days."
"I’ll change the dressing again tomorrow."
Sang Huaiyu lowered His eyes. "Then thank you, Xiao Yu."
……
Sang Huaiyu’s injury wasn’t healing over the following days.
Shi Yu changed the bandages and treated the wound daily, wondering if he was doing it wrong.
"Maybe we should let the med-bot handle it."
He studied the wound again, frowning.
Sang Huaiyu gave a soft chuckle.
"Med-bot?"
"It can’t bandage like Xiao Yu."
"Don't worry."
"This is a form of heaven's retribution."
"As long as the matter remains unresolved, this wound won't heal."
Sang Huaiyu didn't deny that He wasn't a good person. Having seized countless Authorities, sealed ancient gods, and walked among mortals, He had essentially consumed a large portion of the world's energy.
If Xiao Yu hadn't appeared, Sang Huaiyu would never have considered returning it, and might even have stood by as the world withered.
But because of Shi Yu's presence, everything had changed now.
However, returning what was taken requires paying a price—otherwise, it wouldn't show sincerity.
"Xiao Yu, don't dwell on it."
"Just focus on your own tasks."
Shi Yu glanced at Him in surprise, thinking about the recent progress. Only the last batch of cities remained to be purged of Horrors, and then this matter would be over.
To be honest, he wasn't completely certain what would happen next.
But seeing how Sang Huaiyu's health had deteriorated after repairing the world's barrier, Shi Yu worried that completing the final separation of yin and yang might have an even greater effect on Him.
If someone had told Shi Yu a few months ago that he'd be concerned about a malevolent deity, he would've thought it was a joke.
But now...
He was truly torn.
Watching Xiao Yu's serious expression, Sang Huaiyu's fingers itched with the urge. He leaned down slightly, enveloping the youth before Him, and whispered affectionately:
"Just the fact that Xiao Yu worries about me makes me very happy."
His lips curled in a faint smile. "If you're worried I might feel unwell..."
"You could kiss me."
"Isn't it said that love is the best cure for humans?"
Shi Yu: "..."
Aren't we already together?
But faced with the pale, injured Sang Huaiyu, Shi Yu found himself oddly at a loss for words.
Before Sang Huaiyu could casually speak again, Shi Yu suddenly stood on his tiptoes and planted a quick kiss on His lips.
The gesture was like comforting a child, yet it oddly soothed Sang Huaiyu.
The platinum-haired deity touched His lips, lingering over the sensation.
"Did Xiao Yu just eat strawberries?"
Shi Yu blushed. Why did everything this guy do feel so... suggestive? Even the most polite actions set his heart pounding.
"No strawberries, you must be imagining things."
Just as he was about to say more, a "bubbling" sound reached his ears—Little Monster, having woken up and heard the commotion, came rolling up on its scooter.
In front of the child, Shi Yu took a step back and swallowed the words on the tip of his tongue.
Little Monster had no idea it had interrupted its parents' private moment and still looked utterly confused.
"Wah?"
Mom... what are you doing?
"Nothing."
Sang Huaiyu tutted and glanced at the little one who had already learned to run around after just a few days. He came to Xiao Yu's rescue, picking up the little one. "Let's go study in the study."
Shi Yu: "..."
Though he was grateful that the Horror took Little Monster away to prevent it from asking why Mom's lips were red, he couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy.
Was studying necessary at such a young age?
The thought came and went in an instant.
After watching the Horror take Little Monster away, Shi Yu hesitated for a moment before suddenly picking up his phone.
"Still uncomfortable?"
Sang Huaiyu raised an eyebrow and lifted his hand to reply, only to see another message from Xiao Yu a minute later:
"If you like strawberry flavor, we can try it next time."
Strawberry flavor... next time.
Sang Huaiyu paused, his gaze darkening suddenly.
He knew Xiao Yu didn't mean it that way...
But... maybe it could?
Shi Yu had no idea what Sang Huaiyu was imagining. Right now, he was worried about tonight.
Tonight would see the end of the last batch of Horrors.
Shi Yu felt certain that the truth behind his transmigration would be revealed tonight.
Taking a deep breath, he finished his usual livestream, lay down on the bed, closed his eyes, and fell asleep without meaning to.
Unfamiliar buildings, an unfamiliar city—after appearing in the night, Shi Yu tried to look on the bright side. At least "sleepwalking" had its perks—he was basically getting a free world tour, wasn’t he?
And he’d been to every nook and cranny.
Turning his head, he glanced at the final city.
Bracing himself, Shi Yu began leaping like a cat, driving the Horrors toward the border.
As he moved, the moon above gradually faded until only pure darkness remained.
When the last Horror vanished beyond the boundary, the world seemed to stand still.
Shi Yu looked up, in a daze, dreaming within a dream.
After the boundary closed, innumerable transparent threads rose from the skies above every city, flowing into Shi Yu’s body.
Shi Yu rubbed his temples, feeling a massive influx of energy. With a sudden "bang" in his mind, he glimpsed a flood of time-based visions in a flash of insight, taking a long while to fully grasp what had happened.
Holy shit!
Wait, is that how it works?
Shi Yu's expression turned odd, making him stop to process everything.
Hold on—first, his memory of entering the book’s world wasn’t wrong. He really had transmigrated.
Except he hadn’t become a person. Instead, he had directly become—the World’s Consciousness.
Before Sang Huaiyu was born, as the World’s Consciousness, Shi Yu knew the book’s contents. He was aware that a sadistic deity would emerge, playing with humans before growing bored and devouring all Authority, watching the world wither away bit by bit.
Shi Yu, who represented both humanity and Authority: "..."
This couldn’t be allowed!
Thus, the burnt-out salaryman who had transmigrated into the World’s Consciousness, stuck in mind-numbing boredom every day, decided to actively save himself. He had no choice but to assume human form to defeat Sang Huaiyu, reclaim the Authority, and separate the Horrors from humanity.
Unfortunately, right after Shi Yu finished his projections, he encountered a once-in-an-eon spatial anomaly.
When he fell, he retained only his initial memories of transmigrating into the book, forgetting everything else—even what he was supposed to do.
And, through some absurd twist of fate, he wound up carrying Little Monster.
Yes, after reviewing his memories hundreds of times, Shi Yu realized it truly was just a freak accident.
Little Monster had initially been infused with his divine essence from his time as the World’s Consciousness—originally meant to be his secret weapon against Sang Huaiyu after becoming human.
But then, inexplicably, during the spatial anomaly, it was also influenced by Sang Huaiyu, turning into their child. After that, things spiraled into the current hot mess.
Shi Yu hesitated, at a loss for words. This was nothing like his original plan!
But… the result’s the same, right?
He had originally been worried about Sang Huaiyu destroying the world, so he took human form to reclaim the Authority.
But now… Sang Huaiyu had voluntarily shed his dark Authority. It seemed to amount to the same thing.
And… the balance of light and dark was complete.
With a complicated expression, Shi Yu stared at the boundary line on the ground, sensing all the creepy aura of the Horrors being completely drawn away from the earth…
Just as he jolted back to the present, he suddenly realized the "dream" was about to end.
Only this time, he wasn’t waking up on his own—it was a forced awakening.
Shi Yu blinked awake, startled, seeing Sang Huaiyu across from him.
"Done?"
He glanced outside.
Invisible to mortals, but to a deity’s eyes, the world’s rules were visibly mending, patching up the previous flaws one by one.
Unseen order saturated the air, as if missing energy had finally been restored.
Sang Huaiyu quietly studied Xiao Yu’s work, then turned to look at her as she opened her eyes.
Shi Yu also glanced outside and said with little emotion:
"That... I'm the World Consciousness. You knew all along?" He couldn't help but ask, thinking of how Sang Huaiyu had helped him.
"Not hard to guess."
The platinum-blonde deity remained unruffled. "Those ancient gods weren't nearly as powerful."
"Besides, Xiao Yu is special."
Sang Huaiyu knew very well that his feelings for Shi Yu had nothing to do with his identity—he simply liked this person, whether Shi Yu was truly human or the World Consciousness.
Those special abilities only helped him deduce the other's identity but never influenced his judgment.
"Then why did you..." Shi Yu didn't know what to say. They were originally on opposing sides, yet Sang Huaiyu seemed to have taken a step back voluntarily, paying a price that would wound even a deity.
"It was my choice."
"I surprised even myself with this decision."
After all, greed and plunder were ingrained in every god's nature.
While Shi Yu stood in confusion, Sang Huaiyu leaned down and placed a reverent kiss to his forehead:
"Xiao Yu, you matter more... than you realize."
