Chapter 51: Some Might Call It Groveling, but He Relishes It
by 参天甲木Chapter 51: Call It Simping, He Loves It
"What are you doing here?" Fu Yan said flatly, frowning slightly.
It was interrupting him and the kid’s meal and chat.
"Brother Yan, I... I came to bring you a gift." Lu Yu snapped back to reality and walked in with the gift in hand. "I hope I’m not interrupting!"
Du Yang lowered his eyelids to hide his emotions, a cold sneer in his heart—finally couldn’t wait any longer, huh?
He quickly packed up the food containers. These weren’t disposable; he’d have to wash and store them later to return to Grandma.
"Chairman Fu, you two chat." Du Yang paused for two seconds, then added playfully, "I’ll come back later."
Fu Yan was warmed by his smile, a hint of affection creeping into his eyes and even his voice. "Mm, go ahead."
Du Yang, with a calm expression, gave a faint smile, picked up the containers, and left.
Watching their close interaction, Lu Yu was fuming with jealousy. Fu Yan had never been so gentle with him—not even once a smile.
But with Du Yang, he was so tender. Could Fu Yan actually like that bastard?
Once Du Yang was gone, Lu Yu’s expression shifted. He sat down demurely, pushed the gift toward Fu Yan, and began to probe.
"Brother Yan, I heard Du Yang is very scheming. Seeing how close you two are, I’m worried he might trick you..."
"I know Du Yang's character perfectly well." Fu Yan cut him off.
Lu Yu felt a secret thrill. So Brother Yan knew Du Yang was just a fake gold-digger.
How could Brother Yan have any real feelings for Du Yang? Brother Yan had high standards; he’d only like someone from a family of equal standing.
"Brother Yan, you’ve seen Du Yang’s true colors too." Lu Yu pressed on. "He’s got improper intentions toward you, that’s why he schemed his way into living at your place. What cleaner moves into their boss’s home? He’s too good at playing the victim."
Fu Yan’s eyes narrowed, the warmth instantly cooling. "You’ve been investigating Du Yang?"
Lu Yu’s eyes flickered with panic, and he quickly denied it, saying "No, I haven’t."
"I heard it from a classmate—Du Yang was boasting to them that he lives in the home of the boss of Fu’s Group, and the boss practically fawns over him and brought him home for New Year’s."
"Brother Yan, I couldn’t stand it, so I came to warn you."
"Which classmate said that? Give me their contact info. I’ll have it verified. If Du Yang really said that, I won’t let him off easily." Fu Yan’s gaze was icy as he stared at Lu Yu.
Even if Du Yang had said that, it wasn’t wrong. He did like Du Yang a lot, and he had forcibly brought him home for New Year’s.
If you want to call it simping, he’d be happy to own that label.
But he knew his kid would never say such things. Now he understood why Du Yang disliked Lu Yu.
Slandering his kid—right in front of him.
Such a childish trick, barely enough to trick an idiot like He Lin, and he dares to show off in front of a master.
Lu Yu felt a chill down his spine under Fu Yan’s gaze, his body tensing. But he kept his face calm. "Brother Yan, I don’t remember which classmate. I’m popular, too many classmates to keep track."
"Don’t judge people based on hearsay." Fu Yan looked away, out of basic courtesy, and turned on his computer, signaling it was time to leave. "If there’s nothing else, you can go. Take the gift with you—give it to Chen Miao to hold onto."
Fu Yan added, "And don’t call me Brother Yan anymore. Call me Chairman Fu or Mr. Fu."
Lu Yu gripped the hem of his clothes, struggling to keep his expression from crumbling, his voice laced with fake hurt. "Ch-chairman Fu... I understand. I won’t disturb you. You’re busy."
Then, Lu Yu picked up the gift box from the desk, glanced at Fu Yan one last time, and reluctantly left the office.
Fu Yan didn’t seem to believe him. His usual tricks of sowing discord had always worked before. What kind of spell had that broke loser cast on Fu Yan?
Lu Yu handed the gift to Chen Miao, impressing upon him to personally deliver it to Fu Yan.
Chen Miao said yes aloud but rolled his eyes inwardly.
The boss already turned it down to your face. Why insist on handing it over?
It was clear the boss didn’t want your gift. Can’t you read the room?
Both A University students, but Du Yang was the one who knew how to flirt, making the boss lose his mind.
After leaving Chen Miao’s office, Lu Yu spotted Du Yang mopping the floor not far from Fu Yan’s office.
Pathetic. That janitor uniform is where you belong.
How could such a broke loser deserve to live in Fu Yan’s home?
Lu Yu swaggered over to Du Yang, then took a step back, as if disgusted.
"Du Yang, why are you still mooching off Brother Yan’s house and not moving out?" Lu Yu crossed his arms, glancing sideways at Du Yang, who was bent over mopping.
"Brother Yan is just kind-hearted, putting you up for a bit. But by refusing to leave, you’re putting him in a difficult position." Lu Yu let out a contemptuous laugh, lowering his voice. "Brother Yan asked me to tell you to move out soon. He likes peace and quiet."
Du Yang straightened up, leaning on the mop handle, a faint smile curving his lips. "Oh, really? Thanks for the message."
With that, Du Yang ignored him, plunging the mop into the bucket and shaking it vigorously, sending a spray of water flying.
Lu Yu stepped back again in disgust. "You don’t believe me? Brother Yan and I are... He doesn’t want to say it himself, so he asked me to pass it on."
"Oh, I believe you." Du Yang pulled the mop out of the bucket and continued mopping. "If there’s nothing else, I’ve got work to do."
"If you have nowhere to go, I have a vacant apartment near A University. I can let you crash for a bit." Lu Yu pressed on.
Du Yang stopped again, looking at Lu Yu with a half-smile, then spoke with confidence.
"Chairman Fu is old. A lonely old empty-nester gets lonely. With me living with him, he won’t be alone anymore."
Du Yang leaned in closer to Lu Yu. "Senior Lu, don’t worry about it. I’ll take good care of Chairman Fu."
From his nearby office, Chen Miao clapped a hand over his mouth to stifle his laughter.
Through the office glass, he glanced at Chairman Fu’s office door, which was slightly ajar—maybe it hadn’t been properly closed earlier.
He silently prayed the boss hadn’t heard Du Yang’s words.
Empty-nester... Damn, that’s spot on.
Lu Yu clenched his fists. He thought this would piss Du Yang off, maybe even make him move out.
Instead, it was like punching a rubber ball and having it bounce back at him.
"Du Yang, how dare you call Brother Yan old?!"
“Isn’t that what you said?” Du Yang bent down to mop again. “I’m busy. Take your time, Senior Lu.”
Du Yang was now certain that Ji Zichu hadn’t told Lu Yu about his livestream, otherwise he would have brought up more than just him living at Fu Yan’s place.
Lu Yu clenched his fists tightly. He couldn’t ruin the image he had maintained in front of Fu Yanbei; he couldn’t be as reckless and shameless as Du Yang.
“Then carry on, junior. See you next time.”
Lu Yu glared at Du Yang, completely ignoring the path under his feet after barely taking two steps.
A dull thud.
Followed by a sharp cry of “Ah!”
