Chapter 129: Marry Xiao Yan Off to Our Yangyang

"He's just asleep—look how worked up you all are." The grand-uncle said calmly, then glanced at the door with some distress, "That door's been with me for over ten years."

"I'll fix the door later." Fu Yan said immediately, "Grand-uncle, please make Yangyang wake up. He doesn't want to be stuck there. If he can't find me, he'll get scared."

"Get up first, then we'll talk." The grand-uncle rose and reached out to help Fu Yan and Lu Jin'an to their feet.

Fu Yan held Lu Yang, his expression still tense. Even the loud kick to the door hadn't stirred him.

"Since you're all here, come on in and have a seat." The grand-uncle stroked his beard, smiling as he invited Grandma Lu and Grandpa Fu inside.

Once everyone was seated, the grand-uncle continued, "Your baby's sleeping just fine—there's nothing wrong with him. So why'd you go kicking the door like that?"

    Your baby.

    Pfft.

Lu Jin'an couldn't help but laugh out loud. The grand-uncle's ears were sharp—he'd caught their private whispers.

Grandpa Fu looked up at the ceiling beams.

Bro, at least try to keep up your cool master image!

Grandma Lu silently chanted "Amitabha" in her head.

    Monks aren't supposed to lie.

Fu Yan felt a little more at ease, the corner of his mouth twitching a little.

The old man was finding sneaky ways to get back at him for the door.

And lucky for him, he loved showing off—he wanted everyone to know Lu Yang was his baby.

Fu Yan said sincerely, "Grand-uncle, is there any way to make the baby wake up sooner?"

The grand-uncle pursed his lips, silent for a few seconds, "If there's someone he's attached to in his dream, once that wish is fulfilled, he'll wake up on his own."

"So it's because he's attached to someone that he can't wake up." Fu Yan lowered his gaze to the sleeping youth in his arms, asking softly, "Baby, who's still on your mind in there?"

In the dream, they had spent a month together. There was no one from school Lu Yang wanted to see.

He and Lin Haiyin weren't close enough for him to miss her.

Lu Yang was slow to warm up to people. He'd had limited contact with his parents, and besides Fu Yan, Lu Yang probably wouldn't miss anyone else in the Fu family.

On the Lu side, Grandma was already gone. He definitely wouldn't miss Lu Ting, and he saw Lu Jin'an every day, so he wouldn't miss him either.

"The baby's thinking about Aunt Ming."

"Yangyang probably wants to see Wen Wan."

Fu Yan and Grandma Lu spoke at the same time.

Fu Yan looked at Grandma Lu, surprised she knew where Lu Yang had gone.

Grandma Lu kept her eyes fixed on Lu Yang, her gaze full of heartache.

"You mean Yangyang misses his mom, dreamed about her, and that's why he won't wake up?" Lu Jin'an was totally lost—this was beyond his scientific understanding.

The grand-uncle stroked his beard, still smiling, "Only Lu Yang knows that. This old monk can't figure it out."

Fu Yan was certain the person Lu Yang was attached to was his mother, Ming Wen Wan, whom he'd never met.

"Grand-uncle, can you send me back into the dream to find Yangyang? I want to bring him back."

"Simple." The grand-uncle agreed readily, "You gonna sleep here, or go back to your own room?"

Fu Yan said, "Back to our room."

He didn't want Lu Yang sleeping in anyone else's bed—only his.

Fu Yan carried Lu Yang back to their courtyard. No one was around—Chi Xinya and Fu Xing still hadn't gotten up.

"Grand-uncle, please hurry up." Fu Yan couldn't help urging again as he looked back.

The grand-uncle walked briskly, not even out of breath, and spoke slowly, "Xiao Yan, don't be so hard on an old man."

    Fu Yan: "..."

That old monk sure holds a grudge.

Back in the room, Fu Yan gently laid Lu Yang back on the bed, then lay down beside him, holding his hand.

    "Grand-uncle, I'm ready."

Lu Jin'an poked his head in to watch, and saw the grand-uncle pat Fu Yan's forehead—then Fu Yan's eyes closed.

"Grand-uncle, did you just knock him out cold?" Lu Jin'an looked at his revered grand-uncle in disbelief.

This wasn't the grand-uncle he knew at all.

"Don't talk nonsense." The grand-uncle turned calmly, "Xiao Yan's just asleep."

"Come on, let's not disturb them." The grand-uncle left with those words, then stopped at the door, "Come help me fix the door."

One second Lu Yang was in a snowy landscape, the next he was in warm sunlight.

This was still the Lu family's back garden—but it was intact, a newer version of the villa.

The sunlight was blinding. Lu Yang looked around but didn't spot Fu Yan. Instead, he saw a man and a woman walking over.

The man was Lu Ting, helping a woman who was cradling her heavily swollen belly.

The woman was Ming Wen Wan, the mother Lu Yang had only seen in photo albums.

Ming Wen Wan lived up to her name—warm and graceful, with a hint of radiance that drew people in, and a soft, gentle voice.

"Brother Ting, you don't have to rush back at noon. The company's so busy—you should help Mom out more."

"I don't have big ambitions. Mom's the one running the show at the company." Lu Ting gently placed his hand on Ming Wen Wan's protruding belly, "I worry about you and Yangyang, so coming back to check on you makes me feel better."

Ming Wen Wan advised softly, "Brother Ting, you really should pay more attention to the company. Jin'an's only ten—if you don't pitch in, we'll be exhausted."

"I'm really no good at making company decisions—I can only handle odd jobs." Lu Ting smiled, honest with his wife, "I'm just hoping Jin'an grows up fast. I'll take care of you and our little Yangyang."

The two chatted softly about everyday things as they passed by Lu Yang. He seemed to catch a faint, pleasant scent from his mother and unconsciously followed along beside them.

Before he was born, his parents had been so in love, and his father had eagerly awaited his arrival.

"Honey, let's take a break before we keep going." Lu Ting supported Ming Wenwan and paused beside the bench.

Ming Wenwan gently declined, looking down at her protruding belly, "I need to walk more so giving birth to Yangyang won't be as tough."

"I'm an older mom now, so I have to be strict with myself and stay active."

"Honey, I'm sorry you have to go through this. It's all my fault for not being careful that time." Lu Ting's eyes were filled with guilt as he helped Ming Wenwan continue their walk.

Ming Wenwan patted the back of Lu Ting's hand, "This is a surprise gift from heaven, and I treasure it!"

As if remembering something, Ming Wenwan suddenly smiled again, "Jin'an and Xiao Yan are both boys, so there was no match to be made. Xinya had hoped this baby would be a girl, so that when she grew up, she could marry Xiao Yan off to our Yangyang."

"Didn't you tell her it's a boy again?" Lu Ting asked with amusement, "Looks like Xiao Yan won't be joining our family after all."

The couple chatted and laughed as they walked a bit more, then Ming Wenwan sat on the bench to rest.

Lu Yang walked over quietly, crouched at his mother's feet, gently resting his head on her leg, slowly closing his eyes.

"Mom." The young man murmured softly, then called out again with careful tenderness, "Mom."

This sweet, precious moment lasted less than ten minutes before all he could hear was frantic footsteps and voices.

"Her blood pressure is dropping fast—we need to operate now!"

"Doctor, her heart rate is spiking!"

Lu Yang's eyes snapped open. Ming Wenwan lay on the operating table, struggling to breathe, as nurses and doctors worked in controlled chaos to save her.

Sweat covered Ming Wenwan's face and forehead, her hair damp and clinging to her cheeks. She suddenly grabbed the doctor's white coat, using every last bit of strength to force out the words.

    "Save... the child."
