Chapter 128 Yangyang Is So Scared There
by 参天甲木Chapter 128: Yangyang Is Very Scared There
"Fu Yan, don't die, I beg you."
"Fu Yan... Fu Yan!"
"Fu Yan... I'm not worth this, call for help..."
"Fu Yan..."
Du Yang's wailing pleas pierced his eardrums like needles. Lu Yang, with his back to them, clutched Fu Yan's clothes tightly.
His heart felt like it was sealed in an airtight bag, every breath a dull ache.
Inch by inch, the air was squeezed out, leaving only a meaningless struggle.
Du Yang's heart-wrenching, hoarse cries gradually merged with the scenes from countless nightmares.
His body trembled uncontrollably, fine beads of sweat forming on his forehead. Lu Yang closed his eyes, murmuring the same words as Du Yang's screams.
"Yangyang, Yangyang!" Fu Yan's worried voice suddenly jolted Lu Yang awake. He looked up blankly, his face streaked with tears.
Their eyes met, and Fu Yan's gaze held deep pain. "Yangyang, this is your nightmare, isn't it?"
Lu Yang blinked, and tears slid down his face. Fu Yan was now a hundred percent certain.
The nightmare that trapped Lu Yang each time was seeing Fu Yan commit suicide in front of Du Yang's grave, with Du Yang's soul forced to watch helplessly as it all unfolded, unable to do anything.
Fu Yan held the young man tightly and pulled him into his embrace. "Yangyang, let's go back. We won't stay here anymore, okay?"
In the midst of the blizzard, Du Yang leaned weakly against Fu Yan's embrace, while Lu Yang was held tightly in Fu Yan's arms.
The howling wind and snow faded away. Fu Yan opened his eyes to a familiar room—the guest quarters on Nantai Mountain, where they were staying for retreat.
Finally, they were back.
This dream had been far too long, too drawn out. Fu Yan took a deep breath, easing the lingering ache in his heart.
Outside, it was already light. Sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow in the room. They were still in the same sleeping embrace.
Fu Yan's chest pressed against the young man's slightly slender back. He nuzzled the fair skin of Lu Yang's nape, but Lu Yang still didn't stir.
After breathing in the young man's unique scent for a moment, still unsatisfied, Fu Yan pressed his thin lips against the skin of his nape, kissing it inch by inch.
His lips lingered on the earlobe. Fu Yan turned over, swung a leg over and propped himself up on his strong arms, gazing down at the sleeping young man.
The young man lay quietly like a well-behaved kitten, breathing softly, his long lashes casting faint shadows below his eyes.
From Fu Yan's angle, he could clearly see the fine downy fuzz on the young man's face.
A baby who's almost twenty.
Fu Yan lowered his head, gently brushing his lips across the young man's cheek and the corner of his mouth—this was always how he woke Lu Yang.
A few gentle brushes, and Lu Yang would be tickled awake, squirming, making adorable sounds, like a kitten purring, before groggily opening his eyes.
When he realized it was Fu Yan, he'd obediently snuggle into his arms, staying there for two minutes before getting up.
Today, Fu Yan had been nuzzling him for two minutes, but Lu Yang was still sleeping deeply, with no response.
"Baby Yang, time to get up." Fu Yan gently blew into his ear, his voice, still groggy, was breathy and deep, pleasant to hear.
"Baby, if you don't wake up, I'll do something that'll keep you in bed all day."
"Yangyang, wake up."
Lu Yang still showed no sign of waking, sleeping so deeply it seemed more like a coma.
Fu Yan panicked. He climbed off Lu Yang, sat up holding him, and started calling him again.
"Yangyang, don't oversleep. Wake up. It's already light out."
Fu Yan gently patted Lu Yang's cheek, his voice growing anxious. "Yangyang, you don't like that place, do you? Wake up."
Lu Yang remained peacefully asleep, with no signs of waking.
Lu Yang didn't like that place; he had tried to come back several times. Why wasn't he awake yet?
No wonder Lu Yang had been trapped in the dream, unable to return.
Before, when he had passed out, under normal circumstances, he should have been able to wake from the dream.
Something must be keeping Lu Yang trapped in the dream.
The more Fu Yan thought about it, the more frightened he became, his face turning pale. He didn't dare delay. He helped Lu Yang into his pants, and since he was already in his pajamas, he rushed out the door, still carrying Lu Yang.
Lu Jin'an, Grandpa Fu, and Grandma Lu were playing chess in the courtyard when they saw Fu Yan hurrying down the stairs with the sleeping Lu Yang in his arms, bypassing them and heading straight out.
Fu Yan's face was ashen, his brows furrowed, and his expression grave.
"Fu Yan." Lu Jin'an sensed something was wrong and grabbed Fu Yan's arm. "What's wrong with Yangyang?"
After thirty years of friendship, Lu Jin'an knew from Fu Yan's demeanor that something had happened.
"Yangyang won't wake up." Fu Yan didn't look at Lu Jin'an; he kept walking without stopping.
Lu Jin'an panicked too and hurried to keep up with Fu Yan. Yangyang was fine last night—how could he suddenly not wake up?
Could it be a brain tumor, a sudden coma, or did he fall and hit his head?
"You hold Yangyang in the back seat. I'll drive. We're going to the hospital right now." Lu Jin'an turned to go back for the car keys.
"No. We're going to see Great-Uncle."
"Huh!? Great-Uncle?" Lu Jin'an was confused but quickly realized that Lu Yang might be possessed. "Great-Uncle is a highly accomplished monk—he'll know what to do!"
Grandpa Fu and Grandma Lu followed behind them. Fu Yan and Lu Jin'an, both tall and long-legged, walked quickly, leaving the worried elderly couple far behind.
Fu Yan carried the young man, walking hurriedly and slightly out of breath. About ten minutes later, they reached Great-Uncle's courtyard.
The courtyard gate was open, but Great-Uncle's door was tightly shut.
"Great-Uncle, help!" Lu Jin'an rushed forward to knock.
But a foot—Fu Yan's—beat him to it, kicking the door with force.
Bang! A loud crash rang out.
Great-Uncle's door trembled violently and began to wobble dangerously.
Lu Jin'an abruptly stepped back several paces, staring at his old friend in shock, "No way, Fu, buddy, isn't this a bit too much?"
"Are you trying to kill Uncle?" Lu Jin'an looked worried, "We haven't even saved Yangyang!"
"No." Fu Yan's face darkened, his voice gritting through his teeth.
He held Lu Yang tightly and kicked the door again with a loud bang.
This time, Uncle's wooden door finally flew open.
Another *bang* followed as the door slammed against the wall, echoing loudly.
Fu Yan slipped inside with the person in his arms. Uncle was meditating cross-legged in the back room, as if he hadn't heard the door get kicked in.
"Uncle, why hasn't Yangyang woken up? Please, save him."
Fu Yan knelt beside Uncle with Lu Yang in his arms, looking dead serious.
Lu Jin'an followed him in, stunned.
So this is how it works—kick with style, then kneel just as fast?
Lu Jin'an dropped to his knees without missing a beat, "Uncle, please, save my brother."
Uncle slowly opened his eyes, a faint smile in his eyes, showing no displeasure.
Grandma Lu and Grandpa Fu finally made it into the small courtyard.
Grandpa Fu's eyebrows twitched like crazy at the sight of the damaged door. He crept inside to peek around.
He silently prayed this kid wouldn't say something stupid.
Fu Yan spoke up again, "Uncle, there's a problem with the incense you gave us. Yangyang tried to wake up a few times but couldn't. Now he's stuck. Please, make him wake up."
"Uncle, you have to take responsibility. Hurry up—Yangyang is scared in there."
Fu Yan sounded anxious and rude, even a little pushy and overbearing, a far cry from his usual cool, polite self.
Lu Jin'an looked blankly at Fu Yan, then at his brother.
Wait, where did you two go last night?
What place is Yangyang afraid of?
What kind of mystical crap were they pulling behind his back?
Seeing that Uncle still hadn't spoken, Lu Jin'an got impatient, "Uncle, say something! What does Fu Yan mean by that?"
