Chapter 80: Be Careful of Du Yang; He’s Hard to Handle
by 参天甲木Chapter 80: Watch Out for Du Yang, He's Tough to Handle
Ji Zichu, wearing a light-colored suit with his hair slicked back meticulously, strode over to the scene in three quick steps under a white umbrella.
"Lu Yu, don't talk nonsense! It's me who's been trying every possible way to seduce Du Yang!" Ji Zichu retorted sternly. "You can't twist the facts and erase the effort I've put in!"
"Do I even need Du Yang to seduce me? If he gives me a look or has a meal with me, I'd be happy for the whole day! Are you trying to twist everything around and slander me and Du Yang? Is that fun for you?"
"Brother Zichu, I..." Lu Yu's face turned pale, and he took a small step back unsteadily.
"Not bad, you've finally got a clear picture of yourself." Fu Yan said flatly. "Lu Yu, did you hear that? It's Ji Zichu who's seducing Du Yang."
Fu Yan's gaze then fell on He Lin, the meaning clear: come clean.
Meeting Fu Yan's eyes, He Lin shuddered, then turned coldly to Lu Yu. "Xiao Yu, you've got it wrong. I'm the one chasing Du Yang. I post nice photos on my Moments and tag him to see, I create chance encounters at school. If anyone's seducing, it's me seducing him."
"Lu Yu, did you hear that?" Fu Yan's icy voice struck Lu Yu's ears, making him shiver with cold.
"Yes, I heard." Lu Yu's voice trembled, either from cold or fear. "I got the situation wrong."
"Since you know you're wrong, apologize." Fu Yan's cold voice struck again, in a tone that left no room for argument.
"What... what?" Lu Yu's eyes widened in disbelief at Fu Yan.
Du Yang looked up at the man, his dark eyes flickering with complicated emotion, his fingertips trembling and curling under the cuff of his windbreaker.
"Brother Yan!" Lu Yu choked out. "Aren't you going to say anything about Du Yang deliberately calling He Lin to pick him up, making me get caught in the rain?"
As soon as Lu Yu spoke, Du Yang's moved feelings instantly turned to panic. He lowered his eyelids, not daring to look at Fu Yan.
"Deliberately? What nonsense! Du Yang didn't know anything about it!" He Lin was unhappy. "I was the one who wanted to pick Du Yang up. I made you get rained on. What does that have to do with Du Yang? Why are you picking on Du Yang?"
"Look how scared Du Yang is!" He Lin scolded Lu Yu as he reached out to take Du Yang's hand.
Du Yang pulled back, dodging He Lin's hand.
Fu Yan reached out and pulled Du Yang closer by the shoulder, drawing him closer, almost into his embrace.
"So what if it was deliberate? Your father and you can bully my man, but my man can't fight back?"
Fu Yan stared directly at Lu Yu, who was soaked through, and continued slowly, "And anyway, it wasn't deliberate. You should blame He Lin."
Leaning against Fu Yan's chest, Du Yang could clearly smell the pleasant scent of sandalwood on him.
Even the soothing sandalwood couldn't settle his racing heart now.
Could it be that Fu Yan didn't care whether Du Yang had done it on purpose? That he could resist, and even being deliberate was okay?
"Brother Yan!"
Lu Yu was already crying, tears mingling with rain, his face covered in water, yet no one held an umbrella for him.
"Apologize," Fu Yan's cold voice cut in again.
Du Yang tilted his head slightly to look at Fu Yan. At this moment, the man's figure seemed tall and admirable.
"I'm sorry." Lu Yu gritted his teeth and apologized, glaring at Du Yang as if he wanted to tear him apart.
Du Yang looked away, his admiration fading, his eyes returning to coldness. He looked at Lu Yu, his lips curving slightly. "Senior Lu, I accept your apology."
Du Yang paused. "Don't think people will fall for your rumors every time. Brother Yan won't be fooled by you."
A small smile had just appeared on Fu Yan's lips when it vanished at Du Yang's next words.
"Yeah, and President Ji and Senior He won't be fooled either. They're not that dumb!" Du Yang's brows narrowed slightly as he looked at Lu Yu without a trace of a smile.
"That's right! I'm not that dumb!" He Lin immediately lifted his chin in agreement.
Ji Zichu's affectionate eyes sparkled with pride. "Little thing understands me best!"
Lu Yu clenched his fists tightly, his body shivering from cold. "If there's nothing else, I'll be going now."
"Wait." Fu Yan called out to Lu Yu, who was about to turn and flee. "You and I are not that close. Don't call me Brother Yan anymore."
Lu Yu paused, let out a sound of acknowledgment, and ran off into the rain.
His car was parked in the lot near the school gate. He ran for about ten minutes, found it, got in despite being soaked, started the engine, and sped away.
Lu Ting wasn't home. Qin Yue had slept in and was about to have lunch.
Lu Yu burst in soaking wet, ignored the servants' curious looks, threw himself into Qin Yue's arms, and broke down crying.
"Mom, avenge me! I want to kill that bas——"
Qin Yue quickly covered his mouth, kept a steady smile, and gave him a meaningful look. "Xiao Yu, don't cry first. Mom will take you upstairs to change clothes."
Most of these servants were long-time employees of the Lu family; who knew if they were the old lady's spies, waiting to catch them in the act?
Lu Yu caught on and said with a sob, "Mom, I'm so cold."
Mother and son rushed to Lu Yu's room. Qin Yue locked the door and her vicious expression appeared.
"Xiao Yu, did that scumbag Du Yang bully you again?!"
"Mom, it was Du Yang! He deliberately called He Lin to pick him up, making me get soaked! Ji Zichu and Fu Yan both took his side! They've all been fooled by Du Yang!"
Lu Yu's hair was plastered to his forehead, tears streaming down his face, his hands clutching Qin Yue's arm, teeth clenched.
"Mom, I hate Du Yang! I want to kill him! I want to kill him!"
Seeing her son in such a miserable state, Qin Yue's heart ached. She fetched a dry towel to dry his hair and found dry clothes for him to change.
Watching her son cry inconsolably, Qin Yue decided to stop hiding Du Yang's background.
Du Debao had already been sent to prison by that bastard. She had to tell her son to be careful of Du Yang and not to confront him directly.
That bastard had grown powerful now, with Fu Yan backing him; he wasn't easy to handle.
"Xiao Yu, I have something to tell you." Qin Yue pulled Lu Yu to sit down. "Du Yang is actually Lu Yang, the kid who always made you mad when you were little! He's the youngest son of the Lu family."
"What...?" Lu Yu abruptly stopped crying, staring at his mother in shock. "He's Lu Yang?"
Qin Yue nodded and told Lu Yu how she had used a burned beggar boy's corpse to trick the Lu family back then.
"Xiao Yu, you need to watch out for Du Yang. He's tough to deal with."
Qin Yue still kept quiet about Du Debao and everything related to him.
Xiao Yu is the young master of the Lu family; his father can only be Lu Ting.
After hearing this, Lu Yu sat on the sofa, staring blankly for a long time, completely unable to accept the fact.
That poor jerk he most despised turned out to be Young Master Lu, a position he could only dream of but never attain.
Although outsiders thought he was the young master of the Lu family, anyone who had even a slight connection to the Lu family knew that he was not their biological child.
Some even called him the 'bastard son' of the Lu family behind his back.
The identity he most admired and longed for had been taken away by the person he hated the most.
That being the case, he couldn't let Du Yang off the hook.
Lu Yu was already blinded by jealousy and ignored all of Qin Yue's warnings.
Back at school,
After Lu Yu ran off, the other three men all turned to look at Du Yang.
Fu Yan put his arm around the young man's shoulders, sharing his umbrella with him, and said in a steady voice, "Yangyang, say goodbye to your classmate and the child. We need to get to work."
