Chapter 100: Getting Married?
by 参天甲木Chapter 100: Marriage?
When the elevator reached the first floor, Lu Jin'an followed Fu Yan out, only then feeling his heartbeat return to normal once they were outside.
Lu Jin'an, who had been silent since hearing Fu Yan's words, spoke with a choked voice, "You're saying... Yangyang has depression?"
The streetlight on the path downstairs was dim, but it was clear that Lu Jin'an's eyes had reddened without him realizing it.
"Lu Jin'an." Fu Yan's voice was heavy. "You should know Yangyang has been through a lot these past years."
"He's endured over a decade of malice and devastation. What Yangyang needs now is something positive—something that embraces him and nurtures his emotional well-being."
"You're his biological brother. If you can't love him the right way, I'll have to stop you from meeting."
"I..." Lu Jin'an opened his mouth, but tears fell first, his throat felt clogged, as if something were stuck, making his chest ache.
After a moment, Lu Jin'an finally spoke, "Sorry, it's my fault."
"I'm just a little jealous that he's so close to you."
"Give him enough love and acceptance, and Yangyang will come to value you too." Fu Yan put one hand in his pocket, eyeing his childhood friend with a hint of disdain, and added, "Don't do such childish things anymore."
"Those words you said—he might not cry tonight, but they'll probably cause him to have nightmares. Yangyang often suffers from night terrors. Don't be fooled by how calm he seems on the surface; people with depression are suffering emotionally."
"Lu Jin'an, it's going to be a long road to fully heal Yangyang." Fu Yan reached out and placed a hand on Lu Jin'an's shoulder. "Give him more attention from now on. He likes me, but he likes you and Grandma just as much too."
Lu Jin'an wiped his tears and nodded firmly, "I'll go upstairs and apologize to Yangyang. I know you won't just leave him. I'll clear it up with him."
Fu Yan held Lu Jin'an back by the arm, "He's already in the shower. I'll comfort him later. Don't disturb his rest. I'm taking him to see the doctor tomorrow morning."
Lu Jin'an: "I'll go with you. I'm worried about Yangyang."
Fu Yan flatly refused, "For now, pretend you don't know about his condition. Wait until he's ready to tell you himself."
"I'm heading up. You should go now."
Fu Yan turned and left without a backward glance, leaving Lu Jin'an still immersed in heartache and grief—unable to pull himself together.
He was still wallowing in his sorrow!
Was he just going to leave without comforting him?
The heartbroken man finally drove off in silence.
When Fu Yan returned, Du Yang had finished his shower and was combing his hair in the bathroom.
He took off his suit jacket, rolled up his sleeves, took the hairdryer, and helped Du Yang dry his hair.
In the mirror, the young man's cheeks were flushed from the hot shower, and his beautiful eyes fixed on the gentle man drying his hair.
Large, well-proportioned hands gently ran through his short hair, the warm air making it very comfortable.
Du Yang cautiously leaned back, pressing against the man's chest, the warmth of his body transferring through the fabric to his spine.
Fu Yan's scent.
Fu Yan's warmth.
Everything about Fu Yan was something he loved.
Once the hair was dry, Fu Yan set down the hairdryer and wrapped his arms around the young man from behind, kissing the delicate shell of his ear, making him tremble slightly in his embrace.
"Wait for me in bed." Fu Yan's voice was gentle as he guided the young man out of the bathroom.
The young man obediently lay on the bed, his gaze following Fu Yan until he stepped into the bathroom.
Fu Yan came out of the shower wrapped in only a towel. The boy on the bed wasn't looking at him expectantly as he had imagined; instead, he had turned his back to him.
When he heard the bathroom door open, he quickly wiped his face, as if brushing away tears.
He was already cursing that bastard Lu Jin'an in his heart.
Fu Yan's heart tightened. He strode to the bed, climbed on, hovered over the young man, and turned his face toward him.
The young man's eyes were red-rimmed, tears still fresh at the corners, long lashes glistening with droplets. He bit his lip, then quickly looked away the moment his eyes met Fu Yan's.
"I'm sorry, I... really... couldn't help it." Du Yang bit his lip again, trying hard not to let more tears fall.
He didn't want to cry, but his brother's words were like a curse, making him unable to stop the chaotic thoughts from flooding in, unable to control himself.
Fu Yan's heart clenched. He bent down and kissed the tears at the corners of the young man's eyes, his voice low and tender, "Baby, if your heart hurts, let it all out. You never have to apologize to me."
At those comforting words, Du Yang's tears betrayed him again, streaming down his face.
Fu Yan had said it was okay to cry when he was sad.
Fu Yan had said he never had to say sorry to him.
"Fu Yan, I like you so much."
The young man's voice was tearful, soft like a kitten's meow, sweet and gentle as he wrapped his arms around Fu Yan's neck, his eyes glistening with tears.
Fu Yan's heart melted with tenderness and pain, mixed with a bittersweet joy.
His child, because of Lu Jin'an's words, had lost his sense of security again.
When he said "I like you," what he really wanted was reassurance.
Fu Yan kissed away the tears on the young man's face, whispering softly in his ear.
"Yangyang, I love you more than anyone, and only you."
"Your brother was just jealous that you like me more than him, so he said those things on purpose. Downstairs, he admitted it."
"I gave him a talking-to. I made him cry."
Du Yang blinked a few times, his voice still thick with tears, "Really... really?"
"Really. If you don't believe me, next time you see him, ask him if he cried." Fu Yan caressed the young man's cheek and kissed the tip of his nose.
Du Yang's sadness seemed to lift upon hearing that Lu Jin'an had cried. He couldn't help but smile, tears still glistening in his eyes.
Seeing Du Yang smile, Fu Yan's heart eased. He rolled off the young man, pulled the covers, slipped inside, and pulled Du Yang into his arms. Slowly and rhythmically, he stroked the young man's slightly thin back.
"Yangyang, I like you so much. Even if someday you stop liking me, don't think you can get rid of me."
Fu Yan pressed his lips close to the young man's ear and whispered, "If you ever stop liking me, I'll lock you up with chains and keep you in a room, so you'll always belong to me."
"I'll never drive you away. I could never bear to." The young man hugged Fu Yan tightly, his voice trembling, "Lock me up, and I'll still be happy, as long as I can be with you."
The room was warm and cozy, Fu Yan's voice wasn't a murmur—it was earnest and devout.
"Yangyang, how about we get married?"
"Married?" Du Yang pulled back from Fu Yan's arms, staring at the man in shock.
He was only a freshman in college. Could he get married?
Wasn't it too soon? He wasn't ready yet.
After a long moment, Du Yang said, "It's... so sudden. Let's wait a while."
Fu Yan pulled him back into his arms, once again charmed by his adorably dazed expression.
He longed to get married immediately, so his baby would be completely and legally his.
Lying in Fu Yan's arms, Du Yang felt a mix of sweetness and anticipation, eagerly anticipating what Fu Yan had said earlier.
But he waited a long time, and Fu Yan seemed to have fallen asleep, not moving at all.
Du Yang blinked, gazing at the enticing Adam's apple so close, then lifted his chin and gently closed his lips around it.
That single action was like a switch being flipped, and Fu Yan suddenly sprang into frantic motion.
Fu Yan rolled over, pressing the young man beneath him, raining down fierce, burning kisses that seemed intent on devouring the boy in his arms.
The buttons of the pajamas were unfastened one by one, Fu Yan's scorching lips traced a path from the young man's neck down to the eye-catching red mole on his collarbone.
But this time, the red mole's appeal didn't stop his fiery kisses; his burning lips continued down past the collarbone.
The young man's long, pale fingers gripped the sheets tightly, his delicate chin suddenly lifted, and a soft kitten-like moan escaped his throat.
