Chapter 85: Confession Interrupted
by 参天甲木Chapter 85: Confession Interrupted
"Bro, this is..."
"These are roses for Yangyang." Fu Yan raised his hand and gently pinched the cheek of the dazed kid, speaking in a warm voice.
"Hand me your phone." Fu Yan said.
Du Yang was confused but still obediently handed his phone to Fu Yan, who took it and opened a page on the phone.
With his well-proportioned fingers, he tapped on the phone screen for a while, then held the phone up to Du Yang's face for facial recognition verification.
After finishing, Fu Yan returned the phone to the young man. "I've linked your mobile payment to my card."
Fu Yan lightly touched the pink roses with his fingertip, his gaze falling on the boy's beautiful brows and eyes. "No limit. Spend whatever I have."
Then Fu Yan handed Du Yang another black card. "This is a secondary card. You can use all the money in it."
"This is too much..." As a bedmate, he didn't need that much money — he wasn't worth it.
Although he didn't know how much money was inside, what Fu Yan gave wouldn't be a small amount.
"For Yangyang, it's not too much." Fu Yan reached out and gently rubbed his thumb across the boy's cheek.
Du Yang's face suddenly flushed red. He lowered his eyes, staring blankly at the pink roses in his hands.
Was this what it meant to be officially kept after sleeping together?
But they had only kissed, hadn't even had a proper kiss on the lips yet. Was this already considered an official bed partner?
Fu Yan held the young man's somewhat slender shoulders with both hands, his voice gentle and sincere.
"Yangyang, I..."
Before he could say "I like you," it was interrupted by an unwanted ringtone.
Fu Yan pulled his hand back, took out his phone, glanced at the caller, and said apologetically to Du Yang, "Sorry, I need to take this call."
"Okay." Du Yang stood at the bedroom door, holding the roses, nodding obediently.
Fu Yan went into the second bedroom to answer the call. Du Yang, holding the roses, took a glass vase out of the cabinet, filled it with water, grabbed scissors, laid the roses out on the dining table, and trimmed them one by one.
Halfway through trimming, Fu Yan came out of the second bedroom and casually took the scissors from Du Yang's hand, continuing to trim the remaining roses.
Du Yang lowered his head, arranging the roses in the vase, carefully placing each one as if they were precious.
This was the first time in both his past and present lives that he had received roses, and they were from Fu Yan.
"Thanks, bro. I really like them." Du Yang suddenly said.
Fu Yan stopped trimming the rose stems, looked up at the boy, his gaze full of tenderness and affection.
"I'll give you roses all the time from now on."
"Grandma Lu just called—she wants to see you today. Said it's important."
Grandma Lu's call interrupted Fu Yan's planned confession, putting it on hold.
Grandma Lu had just called, she was insistent, saying she wanted to see Du Yang and asking him to find a private place to meet.
It just so happened that Fu Yan also wanted to see Grandma Lu and had something to ask her.
His people, while investigating Du Yang's background, had run into Grandma Lu's people, who were also investigating Du Yang's background.
Whoever was looking into his boy, he wasn't about to let them off easily. He had to get to the bottom of it and ensure Du Yang's safety.
"Grandma?" Du Yang's voice rose a few notches. "Is she okay?"
"Grandma Lu is fine. She didn't say what it was about on the phone, but it seemed important."
Du Yang's heart raced with anxiety, wondering what important matter Grandma suddenly wanted to see him about. He had just angered Lu Yu; they wouldn't act that fast, would they?
If they were going to make a move, it'd be against him. Now that he wasn't in contact with Grandma, she was still in the clear.
The private spot Fu Yan arranged was his villa.
Returning to the villa again, Du Yang felt right at home.
His slippers were still by the door. Du Yang slipped into the same slippers he'd worn last time and entered the living room.
The old housekeeper from the main residence came over to clean regularly, so even though Fu Yan hadn't been here for a while, it was spotlessly clean.
Suddenly, someone grabbed his wrist. Du Yang turned and found himself in Fu Yan's firm, warm embrace.
"Yangyang, can I hold you for a while?" He liked him too damn much—couldn't help himself.
Fu Yan had taken off his suit jacket, in a black dress shirt. He wrapped his arms around the young man, bent his head and gently breathed in the fresh scent that belonged to the boy.
The shirt couldn't contain the warmth of his body. Du Yang pressed his cheek against the man's neck and shoulder area, instead of answering, he just wrapped his arms around the man's slender waist.
The pleasant scent of sandalwood enveloped him. Du Yang closed his eyes, longingly drinking in Fu Yan's warmth and scent.
At the same time, he worried that if Grandma ever found out about this relationship between him and Fu Yan, she might look down on him.
Their cozy moment didn't last long. The doorbell rang. Fu Yan let go of the person, his eyes filled with a smile. "Grandma Lu is here."
While Fu Yan went to open the door, Du Yang quickly pressed his palms against his still-flushed cheeks to cool down.
Grandma Lu changed into slippers at the entrance, walked in with a brisk step, followed by Lu Jin'an.
Lu Jin'an smiled at Fu Yan. The night before last, he had gone to eat with Du Yang and was even snubbed by his good buddy. Thinking about it now was a bit bittersweet.
"What's that expression?" Fu Yan patted Lu Jin'an's arm, completely free of the disdain from the other night.
Now that he knew Du Yang liked him, and that Lu Jin'an was like a younger brother to Du Yang, Fu Yan found Lu Jin'an agreeable again.
"I'm just afraid you'll dislike me!" Lu Jin'an snorted lightly.
Fu Yan hummed softly, watching Grandma Lu lead Du Yang into a spare room on the first floor that had been arranged, then turned back to Lu Jin'an.
"Yangyang likes me."
Fu Yan's tone was casual, but the smugness was unmistakable.
Lu Jin'an: "!!!"
Crazy.
"I know you've got a romantic brain tumor. I'm not interested in that." Lu Jin'an couldn't bear to look.
Is this still the Fu Yan he knows?
"This morning, I was about to confess my feelings to Du Yang," Fu Yan said. "But then Grandma Lu's call interrupted me."
Lu Jin'an: "So now it's my fault, huh?"
Lu Jin'an: "I see Du Yang as a little brother, nothing more. You're the one who's love-struck—don't treat me like your imaginary enemy!"
The two sat at the tea table. Fu Yan deftly brewed tea, poured a cup for Lu Jin'an, then spoke unhurriedly.
"So from now on, I'll have to call you 'brother-in-law,' won't I?"
"Pfft!"
Lu Jin'an spit out the tea he'd just sipped, startled by Fu Yan's words. Fortunately, he quickly covered his mouth, so he wouldn't spray it on Fu Yan's face.
Fu Yan handed his old friend a tissue, a hint of disgust on his face. "Brother-in-law, no need to be so excited."
Lu Jin'an wiped the tea off and retorted, "If Du Yang were really my biological brother, I wouldn't let him date an old man."
Fu Yan: "..."
He still found Lu Jin'an a nuisance.
"It's only a ten-year gap—you're being obstinate."
"Hey, let's not argue. Let's go eavesdrop on what my grandma's saying to your little boyfriend."
Inside the spare room, Grandma Lu entered, closed the door, placed her bag on the table, turned around, and hugged Du Yang.
Grandma Lu leaned on Du Yang's shoulder, and when she spoke again, her voice trembled, choked with tears: "Yangyang, my dear grandson... I am your... biological grandmother..."
Du Yang's muscles tensed; he dared not hug Grandma Lu back, his mind in turmoil.
"Grandma, do you already know about my origins?"
Grandma Lu didn't answer Du Yang's question but was even more astonished: "Yangyang, how... did you find out about your background? When did you know?"
Grandma Lu shouldn't have known about his background yet. In his previous life, it was only when Grandma Lu helped him deal with those who spoke ill of him that she became aware of the Du Debao family.
The family didn't help him; instead, they kicked him when he was down.
Grandma Lu felt that Du Yang wasn't Du Debao's biological son, and with that hope in her heart, she ended up investigating Du Yang's background.
Du Yang looked at Grandma Lu's tear-reddened eyes, thinking about everything that had happened recently. A bold idea suddenly sprang into his mind.
Grandma Lu gave him so much red envelope money, and she constantly had his brother bring him food.
Her kindness toward him went far beyond ordinary friendship.
"Grandma, are you..." Du Yang stepped back, staring at Grandma Lu nervously, his heart in his throat. "That fire."
