Chapter 524 Bone Setting
by 煜素Chapter 524 Bone Alignment
"Don’t talk nonsense!" General Lü held Yi Rou, smoothing her hair as he said, "If not for you, I’d have died at the frontier long ago!"
"Hmm?" Xiaoyu Heng frowned at General Lü. He was about to ask but Baby Ruo Xi tugged his sleeve. He closed his mouth and stayed silent.
"Actually, that time I led the team, and it was because of your kindness that you spared me. That’s why I spared you too!" Yi Rou said.
"Now we’re square!" General Lü looked at Yi Rou, tidying her hair as he spoke. "If you recover, I’ll marry you. Or if you don’t want that, I’ll stay by your side. I won’t be a general anymore. After all, Great Wei is already strong—my daughter can manage, and so can my grandson. The two of us can roam the world together, unshackled. You’ve never left East Ming all these years, have you?"
Baby Ruo Xi quietly reached out, and Xiaoyu Heng, understanding, picked her up. The two of them left the hall together.
The doors to the hall swung shut, and the stationed ministers quickly approached, looking at Xiaoyu Heng and Baby Ruo Xi.
"Let’s go. We’ll discuss matters at the *Nourishing Heart Palace*," Xiaoyu Heng said, waving his hand.
East Ming had no surviving princes—the old emperor had exiled the royal prince to the northern deserts. Even if summoned back, seeing East Ming’s poverty and decay, that prince wouldn’t want to return.
So, truly, no one was willing to take over East Ming.
"Honestly, in any other country, someone would’ve already seized power long ago. But in East Ming, it’s impossible. The national treasury is empty, the people struggle to survive. Ruling here means endless toil just to keep the nation afloat.
"Farmlands, waterways—even the people’s daily survival—all demand attention. Who’d waste their life propping up this mess? That’s why so few are willing to take on East Ming."
"Your Highness the Little Princess, Your Royal Highness the Prince of Great Wei, we just want to know—if the *Hundun* upheaval happens in East Ming, what should we do? Our wives, children, and elders are all here. We... truly don’t know what to do!"
"Yes! When the *Hundun* first appeared, the court erupted in chaos. Everyone knew that once the *Hundun* emerged, the earth dragon would surely overturn!"
"This is a century-old prophecy. They say a seer foretold this a century back."
"A hundred years ago? Who predicted it?" Baby Ruo Xi asked.
"It was an old Daoist. He came to our East Ming once, but no one has seen him since. A hundred years have passed!"
"Yes, he radiated an otherworldly grace—though he looked like a Daoist, he wasn’t quite one. His jet-black hair contrasted with his ethereal presence, like a celestial being..."
Baby Ruo Xi went quiet for a moment, then dug into her tiny pouch and pulled out a scroll, unrolling it. "Is this him?"
Xiaoyu Heng’s eyes lit up the moment he saw it. "Xier, isn’t this—"
"Yes, yes! That’s him! This Daoist master—his portrait still hangs in His Majesty’s study!"
"Indeed. They say the late emperor commissioned it, based on memory."
Xiaoyu Heng looked at Xiao Xi'er and said nothing.
With anyone else, he’d have solutions to spare. But the man in the portrait was Xier’s most cherished master—Qiu Chanzi.
He muttered under his breath, "Didn’t he say he hadn’t left the mountain for a thousand years?"
"So... does the Little Princess know this Daoist master?"
The ministers leaned in, eyes glued to Xiao Xi'er. This wasn’t treason or self-preservation—just desperation.
"He’s my master," Baby Ruo Xi said solemnly. "But if he’s truly done something wrong, Baby won’t let him off either!"
"The Little Princess has principles!" The crowd didn’t know what else to do but wait for their miracle-working princess to save the day.
It’s quite amusing to think that none of them had ever imagined that, in their twilight years, they would find themselves following the orders of a two-year-old little girl in times of crisis.
Yet, they couldn’t help but admire her.
The grand doors of the royal hall swung open, and General Lü stepped out.
Baby Ruo Xi, held by Xiaoyu Heng, looked at General Lü.
"This humble one has an impertinent request!" General Lü approached Baby Ruo Xi, swept his robe aside, knelt, and kowtowed.
"Grandpa, get up quickly!" Since her brother called him "Grandpa," Xiao Xi'er immediately followed suit. She slipped out of her brother’s arms, helped General Lü up, and asked, "Do you want me to go and reset Aunt Yi Rou's bones?"
"Yes, I beg the Little Princess to help her!" General Lü kowtowed again.
"Alright, get up. I’ll go!" Baby Ruo Xi said, then turned her head. "Send me a few imperial doctors, and Brother, come with me. Grandpa, stand guard outside!"
"Understood!" Xiaoyu Heng nodded immediately, and General Lü agreed as well.
Thus, the tiny Baby Ruo Xi, who couldn’t even step over the high threshold, was carried across by Xiaoyu Heng. She had someone fetch white cloth, then instructed Xiaoyu Heng to lay Yi Rou on it.
Baby Ruo Xi searched through her [dimensional] storage for a while before pulling out a set of surgical tools.
"Baby, you… what are you going to do?" Xiaoyu Heng asked.
"Reset her bones!" Baby Ruo Xi replied, kneeling beside Yi Rou and getting to work. As she worked, she reminded her brother, "Brother, don’t look. Just keep your head down and hand me things. It’ll disturb you if you watch!"
"What haven't I seen before, Xiao Xi'er? You’re really underestimating me—ugh… *vomits*!" Xiaoyu Heng had been stubborn, but the moment he turned and saw the bloody sight, the exposed flesh, he gagged and immediately turned away to retch.
"Tsk!" Baby Ruo Xi shook her head with a sigh. This brother of hers was really getting in her way.
Resetting the patient’s bones was actually easier since the patient was already deceased, and Baby Ruo Xi worked swiftly.
Several imperial doctors arrived, took in the scene, swallowed hard, and took several steps back.
"We… we don’t know what to do!"
"Indeed, Little Princess, Princess Yi Rou has already passed. What… what are you doing?"
The imperial doctors, who had served for decades, had never encountered anything like this.
"Reconstructing Princess Yi Rou’s face and resetting her bones, so she may be beautiful in her next incarnation and become a lovely lady!" Baby Ruo Xi declared.
The contrast between her babyish voice and the macabre procedure at hand was so stark that many of the imperial doctors couldn’t hold back and began retching uncontrollably.
