Chapter 103 The End of the Main Text
by 南辿星Chapter 103: Main Story Conclusion
Shi Yu felt his entire face flush red from that single sentence.
The livestream viewers watched as the newcomer, "Yu Bao's significant other," said something unknown, causing Yu Bao to glance down at her phone before her whole body grew warm.
The chat exploded: "Ahhhhhhh!"
"So curious!"
"What on earth was said?"
To get that kind of reaction from the host, it definitely wasn't something ordinary.
Shi Yu took a deep breath, fighting to keep his cool.
"Nothing much."
"Don't read too much into it, everyone."
"Alright, let’s continue the stream."
Shi Yu decisively and quickly changed the subject.
Downstairs in the nursery, Sang Huaiyu chuckled softly as he watched Xiao Yu on the screen.
...
By the time the livestream ended, Shi Yu was completely wiped out—this was the first time he had ever felt so drained from work. And the one who caused all this trouble was none other than the man downstairs!
Thinking about how he had been teased during the stream, Shi Yu’s face flushed and paled by turns as he pulled out his chair, ready to confront Sang Huaiyu.
But the moment he reached downstairs, he was met with Sang Huaiyu’s wide-eyed innocent look.
"Xiao Yu’s here?"
"Though, Little Monster’s already asleep."
"I’ll turn off the lights before coming out."
Shi Yu: "..."
Since when did Mr. Sang become so considerate toward their little one?
Still, the Little Monster in his arms had indeed passed out after a long day of play.
Shi Yu tiptoed as he walked into the living room.
In the darkness, the earlier embarrassment gradually eased. Then, it hit him—
Wait, racing downstairs right after the stream ended… didn’t that make it seem like he cared too much?
Though he had been flustered, Shi Yu wasn't about to lose face.
Even as his ears strained, listening for any sound from the nursery, his expression remained perfectly composed.
Thanks to his non-human constitution, Shi Yu could see clearly in the dark living room. He idly lingered in the shadows, watching the faint glow outside the window.
That there were still fireflies this season… the villa district’s landscaping was really something, he thought.
His thoughts were all over the place until... the noises near his ear stopped.
Little Monster was tucked back into the crib, and the lights in the opposite nursery went out.
Now, the entire living room, both upstairs and downstairs, sank into total darkness.
Shi Yu snapped out of it and went to turn on the lights.
Just as he was about to rise from where he leaned against the corridor, his hand was grasped.
The cool touch of platinum blonde curls grazed his arm. Shi Yu meant to stand, but his body locked up for a second before he forced himself to ease back.
"Everything taken care of?"
"Yeah."
Sang Huaiyu’s gaze softened.
"Xiao Yu planning to turn on the lights?"
Shi Yu was about to nod when he heard the deity chuckle softly.
"Don’t you think this feels kinda like... sneaking around?"
The words "sneaking around" were breathed right into his ear, and Shi Yu shivered from the icy breath, his nerves buzzing.
The next moment, the surroundings suddenly brightened.
But it wasn’t the lights—fireflies floated in through the window.
Since Shi Yu had kicked all the creepy stuff into other realms, the real world was now free of them, and the fireflies were just plain old bugs.
The greenish light washed over the living room, and Shi Yu saw the floor covered in roses.
White roses—his favorite.
Wait—
When the hell had Mr. Sang pulled this off without him noticing? He’d been here the whole time and hadn’t noticed.
Sang Huaiyu also glanced to the side.
"I hear humans do this whole proposal thing before weddings."
"Does Xiao Yu like it?"
Surrounded by an ocean of roses, Sang Huaiyu lifted Shi Yu’s hand and kissed the back of it before producing a delicate little box.
Shi Yu’s fingers curled reflexively, and all his earlier mental preparation vanished in an instant.
When he saw the stunning, unidentifiable bone ring, his brain short-circuited: *Is this a freaking proposal?!*
Experiencing a proposal for the first time in his life, Shi Yu locked eyes with Sang Huaiyu and suddenly felt his own wedding gift was pathetically lame. All he could choke out was, "I—I didn’t get you anything."
Sang Huaiyu grinned, utterly delighted by his flustering. "You saying yes is the only gift I need."
Beneath the quiet night, Shi Yu steeled himself and reached for the bone ring.
But the moment it touched his fingers, he realized this ring was nothing like the mass-produced junk out there.
This has Mr. Sang's scent on it.
The bone ring... So it's...?
He was a little surprised.
Sang Huaiyu smirked. "That’s right, Xiao Yu guessed it. It was crafted from my serpent bone."
"A proposal should be serious, right?"
Shi Yu: "..."
Well, that’s kinda messed up.
But then again, he wasn’t exactly human either. In that moment, his heart actually beat even faster as he slipped the ring onto his finger.
Mr. Sang’s presence wrapped around him instantly, making Shi Yu lower his eyes after sensing the bone ring. Then, pretending to be calm, he shoved something from his pocket into Mr. Sang's clothes.
"This is my return gift."
After saying that, Shi Yu casually pulled his hand back like it was no big deal.
"I'm going upstairs to shower."
"Husband."
Husband... The second the word slipped out, the air turned heavy.
To his surprise, Sang Huaiyu’s pupils turned to slits, the usual gentleness in his eyes vanishing. For the first time, he realized he could get this excited.
Xiao Yu had him so worked up he could barely hold back.
The platinum-blonde god removed his white silk ribbon. Just as Shi Yu stepped onto the stairs, he suddenly reached out and grabbed his wrist.
Before he knew it, Shi Yu was pinned back against the hallway. But the non-human cushioned his back with a hand, keeping him from jolting.
The familiar cool scent wrapped around them, mixed with the white roses from the proposal.
Sang Huaiyu swallowed hard, his usually polite voice now low and rough.
"Xiao Yu, you’re really gonna leave like this?"
His fingers closed around the gift he’d just given Sang Huaiyu—the one Sang Huaiyu had fished out of his pocket, guiding his hand.
Shi Yu inhaled sharply, his eyes darting away under Sang Huaiyu’s gaze. "I got the strawberry ones."
"There are three more boxes upstairs."
God—who knew inviting his boyfriend like this would be so embarrassing? Shi Yu thought he might combust.
"Oh really?"
Sang Huaiyu let out a low laugh, fingers tightening on Xiao Yu’s neck as he stared into Shi Yu’s eyes.
"Xiao Yu, wanna join me in the shower?"
Dizzy and spellbound, pressed close in the dim light, Shi Yu couldn’t stop himself from whispering, "Okay."
When he woke up the next morning, Shi Yu wanted to strangle himself for agreeing so recklessly the night before.
Ugh, what did he mean by taking a bath together?
Starting off with something so intense right from the first time!
How could he have dared, knowing full well he was dealing with a serpentine being?
Even now, Shi Yu couldn’t believe how reckless he had been the previous night.
So reckless that he was completely immobilized now!
Despite having a supernatural physique and the world's power at his disposal, he still couldn’t move.
This was ridiculous!
Shi Yu’s eyelids fluttered nervously, too afraid to open them, terrified that the moment he did, he’d see the deity watching him with that deceptively gentle look—so polite and attentive, yet showed no mercy in the ordeal he’d endured.
The same god who usually catered to his every need was nothing like that at night. Shi Yu was seething with frustration.
Sang Huaiyu had noticed the moment Xiao Yu woke up.
But surely, Xiao Yu was cursing Him fiercely in his mind right now?
He thoughtfully refrained from disturbing Xiao Yu, letting him get it out of his system first—after all, last night… He had indeed overdid it.
After muttering complaints for a while, Shi Yu still didn’t sense any movement beside him and assumed Sang Huaiyu wasn’t there.
Hesitating, he cautiously peeked one eye open to look at the side.
Then froze.
He was still here?
“Aren’t you going to work today, or something?”
He remembered Sang Huaiyu’s parental leave ended today.
The deity across from him raised an eyebrow. “Did Xiao Yu forget we’re going to get our marriage license this afternoon?”
Shi Yu: …
He had almost forgotten about that.
But hell, he couldn’t even get up today.
Before Shi Yu could complain, Sang Huaiyu had already guessed. “Uncomfortable?”
Obviously. After an entire night, how could he possibly feel fine?
Well… there were... moments.
But the morning-after aches were another matter.
As he was lost in thought, a hand reached over and started working on his aching spots.
A warm, soothing healing energy flowed into him, and Shi Yu finally began to relax.
His brows relaxed, but a wave of embarrassment rose again, like sprouting a little mushroom of embarrassment, as he slowly pulled the covers over his head.
Sang Huaiyu curled his lips, unfazed by Xiao Yu's antics. "Xiao Yu can sleep a little longer. I'll make breakfast and get Little Monster cleaned up."
Shi Yu nodded sullenly under the blanket, realizing the person outside probably couldn’t see, so he managed a muffled,
"Got it."
A kiss through the blanket landed on Shí Yu’s head.
As Sang Huaiyu’s scent faded, Shí Yu touched his forehead, unsure whether it was from the heat or being buried under the covers, feeling mollified all over again.
He had vowed last night in his exhaustion to stay angry for days—how had he recovered so quickly?
Throwing the blanket off, he doubled down on staying firm for several days. After getting lost in thought for a long time, he finally checked the time when the alarm rang and got up to head to the bathroom.
But the moment he stepped in and faced the large bathroom mirror, Shí Yu noticed a problem—while Sang Huaiyu had taken care of his aches, the marks were still there.
Was it intentional, or had he forgotten?
Catching sight of the marks on his fingers, Shí Yu quickly averted his gaze and took a deep breath.
Little Monster woke up and could tell Dad was in an exceptionally good mood today!
After finishing its milk, Little Monster quietly gave a soft "Wah-lah."
Dad... can I go see Mom?
It had just mastered stair-climbing!
Sang Huaiyu finished making the sandwiches, guessing Xiao Yu was still burrowed in bed, and said, "Go ahead."
"Wah-lah!"
Little Monster had just reached the door when it heard Mom’s voice.
"Shi Ling'an?"
"Wah-lah!"
It’s me, Mom!
Little Monster wiggled in its walker, trying to enter, and the next second, the bedroom door opened.
Shí Yu couldn’t resist picking up the little chubster.
Yep, definitely put on weight.
No wonder the walker seemed cramped—the little guy had grown.
He tweaked Little Monster’s tentacle. "What brings you up here?"
"Wah-lah!"
Mom... Dad says it’s time for breakfast!
As Little Monster announced solemnly, Shí Yu caught sight of Sang Huaiyu downstairs.
Shí Yu gave a light cough.
"Eat up quickly, let's go get married."
He paused, then, as Sang Huaiyu gazed at him gently, added, "And while we're at it, let's get Little Monster a new ride-on toy. Its current one's too small."
"Of course."
Sang Huaiyu watched Xiao Yu's adorable yet awkward demeanor, his heart melting.
How is she so cute?
She actually forgave him so quickly...
Hmm, maybe next time he could try getting Xiao Yu to call him "hubby"?
