Chapter 140: Let Jinzong Answer the Phone

The Enigma saw how cold Chen Su was acting.

Although Zhao Jinzong's wrists were restrained, basic tasks like eating were not an issue. He moved his wrists, the iron shackles clanking crisply, then let out a soft "tsk" of pain.

Zhao Jinzong called out, "Chen Su."

Chen Su furrowed his brows. "Did you hit the wound?"

    "Yeah."

Chen Su got up to grab the first aid kit, but Zhao Jinzong stopped him: "No need."

Zhao Jinzong continued, "Come here. Feed me."

Chen Su walked over, glanced at the wound on Zhao Jinzong's palm—no secondary infection, no bleeding, probably just a minor bump. Letting out a sigh of relief, he sat down beside Zhao Jinzong and fed Enigma.

After two bites, Zhao Jinzong asked, "You in a bad mood?"

    "No."

    "Liar."

"..." Chen Su shot him a look. "Maybe a little."

    "Why?"

    "I don't want you working."

Zhao Jinzong raised an eyebrow. "What do you want me to do?"

Chen Su's hand paused. "Just stay here."

    Zhao Jinzong grinned. "Fine."

After feeding Zhao Jinzong breakfast, Chen Su ate a little himself, returned to the bedroom to take his medication, and then no longer allowed Zhao Jinzong into the study. He shut Zhao Jinzong in the bedroom while he worked in the study for him.

Zhao Jinzong's work was demanding, requiring sufficient decision-making, judgment, and foresight. Chen Su got nowhere for half a day.

    ...

In the bedroom, Chen Su's suitcase was still open, crammed with stuff.

    —Medicine and various coaxing tools.

Zhao Jinzong read the instructions on the pill bottle, put it back, and snapped Chen Su's suitcase shut.

Two hours later, Chen Su returned to the bedroom wiped out, holding two books he had taken from the bookshelf. He placed them on the nightstand, closed the curtains, and lay down to rest with Zhao Jinzong.

Chen Su rested his head on Zhao Jinzong's chest, wrapping his arms around his waist. He always thought he was a fast reader, but in those two hours of work, he hadn't even finished reviewing the approval documents in his email. Zhao Jinzong's work was way busier than he'd ever imagined.

Chen Su really needed to hold Zhao Jinzong and rest for a while.

Chen Su had only intended to rest for a dozen minutes but ended up falling asleep for over an hour. When he woke up, he looked at the resting Enigma, quietly got out of bed, stepped out of the Federal Office to buy some essentials, and then returned to work.

The housekeeper called. Chen Su declined it.

The housekeeper had no choice but to send a message: "General Administration, when is Mr. Chen coming back to the Zhao house?"

Chen Su replied using Zhao Jinzong's phone: "In a month."

    Housekeeper: "Okay."

Chen Su was particularly afraid of handling people he knew—it was too easy to get caught.

After lunch, the items Chen Su had bought that morning came in handy. He went all out, staying close to Zhao Jinzong. To make Zhao Jinzong happy, he put on a silk...

Zhao Jinzong was amused, but unfortunately, his wrists couldn't be separated too far apart, so he needed Chen Su's help.

Chen Su was exhausted. He fished out medicine from the nightstand, kissed Enigma, and talked him into taking it.

Once Enigma fell asleep, Chen Su finally got a little rest, but he didn't want to leave Zhao Jinzong's side or the bedroom. He knew how nice it was to wake up with your partner next to you, so he leaned against Enigma, scrolling through documents on his phone, working for Zhao Jinzong.

During this time, two work calls came in, and Chen Su answered them for him.

He didn't need to say much—mostly listening, and after a long silence, he gave a half-hearted reply, "Mm, I'll get back to you later."

Chen Su looked at the sleeping Enigma beneath him, feeling pumped. He kept leaning down to kiss Enigma's neck, leaving marks on his neck.

The proud and famous Zhao Jinzong, being forced to lose his freedom, didn't get angry. He stayed by Chen Su's side.

Chen Su worked for a long time, until Zhao Jinzong woke up.

Zhao Jinzong's handsome face lifted a little, his large hand resting on Chen Su's knee and patting it gently. His voice was deep and magnetic: "You tired?"

    "No."

    "Wanna take a break?"

    "No need."

Zhao Jinzong smiled and told Chen Su to lie down properly.

As Chen Su lay down and slid his phone under the pillow. The one who said he didn't need a break soon clutched the pillow, sweat beading on his forehead. The pillow gradually shifted, and the phone screen lit up, catching the Enigma's eye.

It was a call from Old Master Zhao.

He could dodge any call except Old Master Zhao's.

Old Master Zhao had navigated the business world for years—sharp and suspicious. Chen Su didn't even know how they interacted. If he hung up without sending a voice message later, it'd be too obvious.

The phone vibrated, ringing for a while. Chen Su looked up, his neck, chin, and collarbone making a perfect line.

He saw the caller name on the screen and clenched his fingers.

Zhao Jinzong reminded him, "Chen Su."

Chen Su took a moment to compose himself, digging his knee into Enigma to keep him from getting too close, but he was quickly pinned down easily, even as he answered the call, "Uh..."

Old Master Zhao asked, "When are you coming back to the capital?"

Chen Su said, "Jinzong... is busy."

Lying to Old Master Zhao was clearly a foolish move.

Old Master Zhao paused for a second, figuring out who it was on the other end. "Chen Su? It's the weekend. What are you so busy with?"

Even if this was the person Zhao Jinzong had decided to spend his life with, Old Master Zhao wouldn't give him absolute trust—at least not over the phone. Over the phone, you never knew who was on the other end or what they were up to.

Chen Su lifted his chin, a comfortable gesture. He paused for a moment, steadied his voice, and said, "Work."

Old Master Zhao pressed on, "Is his phone with you?"

"Yeah, it's dead and charging. I was just resting," Chen Su said lazily, making an excuse.

Zhao Jinzong's lips curled into a faint smile. He remained silent, not exposing him.

Old Master Zhao didn't hang up. After a few seconds of silence, he said, "Put Jinzong on the phone."

The tone was so commanding that Chen Su found it hard to refuse. When an elder calls and asks to speak to a younger person, there's no room for refusal or excuse.

Chen Su was in a difficult position: "…"

He looked up at the handsome and elegant enigma before him, who was raising an eyebrow and looking down at him, admiring him, watching him lie.

Zhao Jinzong disliked lies and would never lie with him.
