Chapter 3: The Married Beta Smells Really Good
byChapter 3: Married Betas Are So Appealing
Even now, Bai Yu felt a tingling pain on the back of his neck as he caught sight of Situ Jing’s slightly exposed canines. An Alpha’s rut was both frenzied and brutal, and he was terrified.
“Why did you choose me? I’m just a Beta.”
“Because of your body scent—it can alleviate my Abnormal Pheromone Syndrome.”
Bai Yu sniffed his own wrist. “What scent?”
“You can’t smell it yourself? It’s a fig scent.”
Situ Jing’s words reminded Bai Yu of what his mother had once mentioned—that he had a natural scent since childhood, a blend of fresh greenery with a hint of sweet cream, similar to the aroma of figs.
But Bai Yu couldn’t smell it himself.
So that was why Situ Jing had come to him.
Secretary Zhou placed the contract in front of Bai Yu. It stipulated a monthly allowance of 80,000 yuan, along with full coverage of Bai Li’s medical expenses and the costs associated with finding a bone marrow match, until Situ Jing’s condition resolved.
Bai Li’s medical expenses were enormous. Even if a matching bone marrow donor were found, the follow-up costs could amount to nearly three million yuan.
Bai Yu was amazed. Was Situ Jing really offering this so easily?
Thinking back, that unexpected incident had turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Situ Jing’s status was extraordinary—perhaps he could help find a matching bone marrow donor for his sister sooner.
But what kind of assistance did Situ Jing mean by “helping you through your rut”?
Bai Yu asked softly, “There’s one more thing I’d like to ask.”
“Go ahead.”
“Does that mean I need to let you bite the back of my neck during your rut, or do you need me to collect my bodily fluids?”
Situ Jing’s gaze fixed on Bai Yu’s neck, his Adam’s apple bobbing. “More than that.”
Bai Yu instinctively tightened his legs. Did that mean actual physical intimacy?
He had no experience in such matters, whether with an Alpha or a Beta.
But to save Bai Li, Bai Yu had no other choice. Besides, as a Beta, he couldn’t be marked anyway—so it wasn’t a loss.
Bai Yu picked up the pen and signed the contract. He decided he’d need to watch some videos later—partly out of fear that an Alpha’s physical strength might cause him injury, and partly to gain some knowledge so as not to disappoint his patron.
Secretary Zhou collected the contract and placed it in a document folder.
Situ Jing clasped his hands together, his thin lips parting slightly. “I will keep my promise, but I have one requirement.”
“Okay, go ahead.”
The setting sun outside the window cast a warm glow on Bai Yu’s fair complexion, highlighting the fine peach fuzz on his skin. His slender frame sat upright, like an obedient cat.
“This is strictly transactional. Neither of us should cross boundaries. Don’t use my name to show off, and don’t casually disclose our relationship.”
“I understand.”
Bai Yu’s tea-brown eyes were clear and round, especially when tearful—they easily stirred a man’s predatory urge, a desire to possess and break him.
Situ Jing’s Adam’s apple bobbed again, his body heating up. He immediately adjusted his inhibitor bracelet to the highest setting.
Until his Abnormal Pheromone Syndrome disappeared, Situ Jing would have to maintain this relationship with Bai Yu.
From their conversation, Bai Yu indeed seemed like an easy-to-handle, utterly ordinary young Beta. As long as he didn’t overstep, it would be fine.
Situ Jing handed the small pendant back to Bai Yu. “You dropped it that night.”
“Thank you.”
Bai Yu took the pendant and noticed that the chain had been forcibly torn. An Alpha’s strength was truly formidable.
Soon, the Beef Wellington arrived.
Bai Yu used his knife and fork to cut through the golden-brown crust, revealing the tender beef inside. He ate enthusiastically, his cheeks puffed out, but he felt slightly uneasy under Situ Jing’s unwavering gaze from across the table.
“Aren’t you going to eat?”
Situ Jing leaned back in his chair. “I’ve already eaten.”
Secretary Zhou stood quietly to the side. With nothing else to do, he also watched Bai Yu eat.
Bai Yu’s hair was light brown and fluffy, and his looks were likely considered quite attractive at university. He had probably been hit on frequently while performing at bars. It was a pity he was a Beta—but perhaps that was for the best. An Omega might not have been able to handle the boss.
After a while, only the garnish of cherry tomatoes remained on Bai Yu’s plate, and his glass of lemon water was empty.
Situ Jing stood up. “It’s getting late. Let’s go.”
His rut had ended just a day ago, and this was the stage when his pheromones were most volatile. The inhibitor bracelet could only suppress them for a limited time—they couldn’t stay here much longer.
Bai Yu was surprised. “We’re leaving just like that?”
“Is there something else?”
“No, it’s just…” He hadn’t prepared anything yet—hadn’t even watched any videos. How could they jump straight into practice? This was too rushed.
“I’d like to go back and get some things!”
A vein in Situ Jing’s temple throbbed. Bai Yu had no idea how difficult ruts are. “Tell Secretary Zhou what you need to buy. You’re coming with me.”
Bai Yu was bundled into the car. As the door closed, he couldn’t help but ask the man beside him, “How long does your rut usually last?”
“It’s unpredictable. This time, it might be longer.”
Every time Bai Yu came close, that scent seeped into Situ Jing’s lungs. The inhibitor bracelet was about to lose its effect.
*
When they arrived at the presidential suite of the hotel, Situ Jing immediately tossed the inhibitor bracelet aside and pinned Bai Yu down by the shoulders.
Bai Yu trembled with fear. Having grown up in a small town, the Alphas he had encountered were only lower or average rank, their pheromones far less aggressive.
Though Bai Yu couldn’t smell Situ Jing’s pheromones, he could still feel the oppressive pressure of them. The room must have been saturated with the Alpha’s scent.
Situ Jing rubbed Bai Yu’s quivering lips and inhaled the fig scent emanating from him.
The scent of Situ Jing’s pheromones had already faded from Bai Yu’s neck, vanishing so completely it was as if it had never been there.
Situ Jing leaned in and bit down on the back of Bai Yu’s neck, injecting liquid pheromones into the already atrophied gland.
The man’s movements were far from gentle. Bai Yu grimaced in pain, gripping Situ Jing’s arm tightly. “It hurts.”
The door was pounding violently, as if someone outside was throwing their weight against it.
Beneath the suit jacket was a powerfully built, chiseled physique, exuding a predatory strength and overwhelming presence. Shirt buttons popped one by one, his searing skin pressing against Bai Yu's body.
Bai Yu grabbed Situ Jing's hair, his voice shook as he said, "It hurts."
"Did it hurt this much when you were with your ex-husband?"
A light flush spread across Bai Yu's face, but he didn't answer.
He had promised his ex that after the divorce, he would never bring up their past or reveal the real reason for their marriage. Large corporations care deeply about the backgrounds of their executives, and such details could easily come to light.
Seeing that Bai Yu remained silent, Situ Jing didn't press further. Instead, he hooked his arms under Bai Yu's knees and carried him to the bed.
It was so hot, unbearably hot. How could it feel like the height of summer in the middle of March?
A white hoodie, jeans, a suit jacket, and leather shoes lay piled on the floor, yet the heat persisted.
Pain mingled with waves of passion, dizzying, intoxicating; all else was forgotten.
In the cool midnight of March, the man shouted, unleashing a bestial roar, finally releasing the long-pent-up agitation.
The lights in the room remained on. Bai Yu wept, his round, cat-like eyes shimmering with tears, his nose tinged red, as he covered his face with his hands.
Situ Jing grabbed Bai Yu's wrist, locking eyes with Bai Yu's tear-filled ones, and couldn't resist marking him on the neck once more, saturating him entirely in his own pheromones.
Outside, the wind howled, and a drizzling spring rain began to fall.
Bai Yu's phone rang twice, while Situ Jing's rang many times, but there was no time to answer.
The air was thick with a sultry scent, the fir pheromones so dense it felt like being immersed in a forest. Under the bed, the trash can held eight used condoms.
Buried under the covers, Bai Yu felt congested, dizzy, his neck red and swollen. He vaguely sensed that his shrunken gland couldn't handle so much, liquid fir scent trickling down his neck.
At five in the morning, Bai Yu's alarm went off.
The alarm blared repeatedly, and Situ Jing frowned slightly.
Bai Yu struggled to reach out, turning off the alarm on his phone and switching off the lights. In the darkness, the man pinned him down again.
"How come you…"
"What?"
Bai Yu shook his head. Perhaps an Alpha in rut needed more comfort and holding. He slid his arms around Situ Jing's trim waist.
Four hours later, Bai Yu woke up again to the sound of running water from the bathroom.
His left foot cramped up, pain forcing him to curl up on the bed, emitting soft whimpers.
The sound of water in the bathroom stopped.
Situ Jing stepped out, water dripped from his hair, water droplets trickled down his chest muscles along the lines of his abdomen, finally disappearing into the towel wrapped around his waist.
"What's wrong?"
A muffled voice came from under the covers, "Foot cramp."
Situ Jing walked to the bedside, threw back the covers, and grabbed Bai Yu's leg to massage it.
Bai Yu jerked back. He wasn't wearing any clothes, and the sudden touch sent a chill through him.
Situ Jing grabbed his ankle again. Bai Yu's calf was thinner than his forearm, his pink toes curling upward awkwardly.
Embarrassed, Bai Yu buried his face in the pillow, biting his lip to endure the pain.
Situ Jing's warm, moist fingers pressed against his leg. "Don't move. I'm worried if your body can hold up long enough to see me through my rut."
"I'll be fine if I just rest for a bit," Bai Yu said timidly, glancing at Situ Jing.
Situ Jing set Bai Yu's foot down, lifted him up, and carried him into the bathroom.
Bai Yu trembled slightly. Because he was naked, Bai Yu's back pressed against Situ Jing's chest. "What are you doing?"
"Soaking in warm water will help ease the cramp."
"Alright, thank you."
Bai Yu had never imagined he would cross paths with an Alpha like this. In his past fantasies, if possible, he would have found a compatible Beta to spend his life with.
But this situation wouldn't last forever. Once Situ Jing's rut passed, he could leave.
Situ Jing only asked him to accompany him through his rut. Typically, an Alpha's rut occurs once every two months. Even if his rut was irregular, it was impossible for them to meet every day.
As Bai Yu applied shower gel, he realized—without looking, he wouldn't have known—his body was covered in love bites.
Situ Jing examined a bird design tattoo on Bai Yu's back.
He didn't dwell on its meaning, assuming it was just a youthful desire to stand out, like many teenagers.
S-class Alphas possessed extraordinary endurance and explosive power. Situ Jing still hadn't reached complete release, but considering Bai Yu's state, he decided to take a break.
"You're too thin."
"I actually eat a lot. It's just that it gets digested but not absorbed."
Bai Yu wasn't used to having someone else present while he showered and kept waiting for Situ Jing to leave, but he showed no intention of going. "I can manage on my own."
Just then, Jiang Ming called, and Situ Jing stood up and left the bathroom.
"How are you? Everything alright?"
"No need for suppressants anymore."
Jiang Ming swiveled in his office chair. "Seems we found the right person. So, no more insomnia or headaches?"
"Not for now."
Situ Jing's recent ruts had been more intense, and Jiang Ming could hardly imagine what the usually elegant and reserved male Alpha would be like when fully consumed by instinct.
That Beta must be doing alright, at least well enough not to require medical treatment.
"In that case, let's observe for now. Contact me if anything unusual happens."
Situ Jing flicked open a lighter and lit a cigarette. "Prepare some supplements for me."
"Sure, where should I deliver them?"
"To the hotel. I'll send you the address."
