Chapter 29: The Dressed-Up Beta Spouse

Bai Yu’s ears burned red. Why did Situ Jing suddenly want him at his company?

Bai Yu: [I have an elective tonight. Can I come find you after class?]

Situ Jing: [I’ll have Secretary Zhou check your schedule.]

Bai Yu bit his lip and quickly backtracked, [The teacher suddenly canceled class, but I’m not feeling well—I have diarrhea.]

Two seconds later, Situ Jing’s message arrived: [You said you’d be obedient. You have no respect for the contract, Bai Yu.]

Bai Yu stared at the words on the screen, his brow furrowed.

Qin Shaoxin stood at the doorway, watching him from a distance. "What’s going on?"

Bai Yu quickly exited the chat and turned off his screen, looking up. "Nothing, I just got a part-time job. Let’s grab a meal together another time."

"Wait, you forgot something." Qin Shaoxin shoved his hands into his pockets, his eyes fixed on Bai Yu, unusually serious.

"What is it?" Bai Yu opened his bag to check if he’d left anything behind. He didn’t have much to begin with, and everything was in his bag.

Qin Shaoxin sighed. "Aiya~ I wonder who got removed from the friends list and is still wandering around, so hard to guess~"

"Ah, that..." Bai Yu opened his phone again, then remembered how angry Situ Jing had been last time.

Qin Shaoxin walked up to Bai Yu and asked gently, "Why are you still hesitating? Am I not worthy of being in your circle of friends, or is someone controlling you?"

Bai Yu’s fingers trembled slightly. "Of course you can. There’s no problem adding you."

He had his freedom. Adding a friend was no big deal—it didn’t violate the contract.

Bai Yu accepted Qin Shaoxin’s friend request. "I’m leaving."

Qin Shaoxin pulled something out of his bag and slipped it into the side pocket of Bai Yu’s backpack. "This is for you."

"What is it?" Bai Yu took it out and saw it was a key card.

"This is a spare apartment key. You can come here directly if you want to use the computer in the future. I often lose my keys and only stay here occasionally, so consider it as you helping me keep the key safe."

Bai Yu tried to hand it back. "No need, you keep it."

Qin Shaoxin turned and headed downstairs. As a dancer, he moved nimbly and quickly put distance between them. "I’ll walk you out so you can learn the way."

Bai Yu had no choice but to follow. "Then I’ll hold onto it for now."

After leaving the apartment, Qin Shaoxin accompanied Bai Yu to the subway station before heading back.

Bai Yu carefully inspected his outfit. Since he was going to Situ Jing’s company today, wearing casual clothes might not be suitable. If employees saw him and started rumors, it wouldn’t reflect well on Situ Jing.

His mouth still tasted like spicy strips...

Bai Yu immediately exited the subway station and went to a shopping mall to change into a more professional light gray suit, pulling his loose hair into a small bun.

He touched his chin and stared at his reflection in the mirror. Maybe this was what he’d look like working in the future? Looks good.

The store clerk looked at Bai Yu, her eyes shining with admiration. "Sir, you look very handsome in this outfit."

Bai Yu gave a gentle smile. "Thank you."

After paying, seeing the bill of over 1500, his wallet ached.

It's alright, I can wear this for work later anyway.

Bai Yu went to a supermarket to buy a box of mints, popped two into his mouth, and headed back into the subway station, taking Line 1 directly to Jiang'an Station where Hengyu Tower is located.

Hengyu Tower is entirely white, with a sleek, streamlined design that has a strong modern vibe. It stands by the East River, facing the Yunjing TV Tower in the distance, hence it's nicknamed the White Tower.

It's been reported that the outer glass of Hengyu Headquarters is made of a special material that can generate electricity from light, while remaining transparent from the inside.

The headquarters houses numerous departments, along with employee facilities like a billiards room, arcade, cafeteria, and more. With high salaries and excellent benefits, it's a large multinational tech company that many top graduates are dying to get into.

Bai Yu emerged from Jiang'an Station and gazed at the white skyscraper 300 meters away, suddenly realizing a problem: how would he get up there?

The company's president isn't someone just anyone can meet, right?

Bai Yu sent a message to Situ Jing: [I'm here. What should I say my reason for visiting is? An interview?]

Situ Jing: [Secretary Zhou will bring you up directly.]

Bai Yu entered the building, where the floor reflected the light from the strip ceiling lamps. The air carried a clean, sophisticated scent, reminiscent of a certain brand of perfume.

A few men and women in business attire hurried past Bai Yu. At the reception desk, a man and a woman were flipping through documents and making phone calls.

The male receptionist noticed Bai Yu entering, paused his task, stood up, and asked, "Who are you here for?"

Bai Yu said, "I'm looking for Secretary Zhou."

From a distance, Secretary Zhou caught a glimpse of a profile that seemed familiar. After a moment's scrutiny, he recognized Bai Yu and approached, saying, "Mr. Bai, over here."

Bai Yu followed Secretary Zhou to the elevator area to wait. The elevator arrived quickly.

Several employees stepped out of the elevator, and one of the men glanced back at Bai Yu after exiting.

Bai Yu briefly caught his eye and also found him familiar. Once inside the elevator, he carefully recalled and realized it was someone he knew—a senior from his high school days. When Bai Yu was a freshman, the senior was in his final year. He was the school's top student, and they had met once when he found Bai Yu's meal card on the playground.

Though running into him here was unexpected, it made sense—his grades had always been excellent, and the ID badge he was wearing just now indicated he was at a managerial level.

Secretary Zhou said, "Mr. Bai Yu, your outfit looks great today."

"Ah, thank you." Bai Yu touched the well-fitted suit jacket, feeling as though he fit right in.

"Did you see someone familiar earlier?"

"Not exactly, a senior from high school. We haven't been in touch for a long time. I didn't expect him to work here."

Bai Yu glanced at the elevator buttons. Secretary Zhou had pressed the 30th floor, the top level—no wonder the ride took so long.

He couldn't help but think that Situ Jing must enjoy the feeling of looking down on everyone from up high, but what would happen if an earthquake struck?

Oh, right, he could escape by helicopter from the rooftop. The wealthy always have more options than ordinary people.

The elevator reached the 30th floor. Secretary Zhou led Bai Yu to an office door and said, "The boss is inside. Let me take your bag."

Bai Yu handed over his black backpack to Secretary Zhou and pushed the door open. The spacious, bright office was well air-conditioned.

Situ Jing was leaning back in his boss's chair with his eyes closed, hands clasped over his abdomen, long legs propped up on the desk, his shoes polished to a shine.

Beside the desk sat a red seven-spot ladybug ceramic figurine. The ladybug's eyes looked clear and wise, one looking upward and the other downward, sticking out like a sore thumb in the office's smart, polished atmosphere.

Beside the ladybug pottery, there was also a black box.

If he hadn't seen Situ Jing, everything about him would have quickly faded away. But the moment he saw Situ Jing, all those memories came flooding back like a tide.

It made Bai Yu couldn't help wondering what was inside that black square box—could it be something related to him?

Since they had just met, it was unlikely that Situ Jing would be so kind as to give a gift voluntarily. So what could it be?

Maybe it was just a gift someone gave him, or perhaps he intended to give it to someone else.

The office door behind them closed automatically.

"You're twenty-five minutes late," Situ Jing remarked, glancing at his wristwatch while scrutinizing Bai Yu's unusual outfit today.

A few strands of hair fell across Bai Yu’s forehead, his eyes darting away, not daring to look at him. The light-gray suit he wore was new, and two buttons of his white shirt were undone, revealing his fair neck and collarbone, giving him a somewhat handsome, youthful air.

But he hadn’t brought the black tote bag Situ Jing had given him, and he stood far away, only a few steps from the door, as if ready to leave at any moment.

Bai Yu muttered awkwardly, "Sorry, I came by subway."

"Did the subway get stuck in traffic?"

"Huh?" Bai Yu was stunned. "No, it was on time, just a bit slow."

Situ Jing sighed softly. Though the outfit looked good, as soon as Bai Yu spoke, it brought everything back to his essence—those tea-brown cat-like eyes of his could never hide anything.

"We agreed to respect each other, but you broke that agreement first."

"I tried my best. I really had just finished my homework when you called."

Situ Jing rubbed his temples, looking somewhat weary, and turned his gaze to the ladybug sculpture on the desk. "How's my scarab?"

Bai Yu nodded. "Yeah, it's fine."

He had reattached the scarab’s broken limbs, and unless one looked closely, it wasn’t obvious it had been damaged.

Situ Jing pointed to the black box on the desk. "Put this on."

    "For me?"

Bai Yu slowly approached the desk and opened the box. Inside was a complete pink and white maid outfit, complete with a lace headband and white stockings.

"You want me to wear this?!" Bai Yu exclaimed in surprise, pushing the box away and the lid snapped shut.

Situ Jing’s gaze turned cold, leaving no room for refusal. "If I recall correctly, it’s been a full month since we last met. Are you really unwilling to agree to even this request?"

Bai Yu froze. "The contract never mentioned wearing... these kinds of clothes. It’s too embarrassing."

"Your sister’s medical expenses abroad last month cost five hundred thousand, and the payment hasn’t been sent yet. I’m considering reevaluating the terms of our contract. What do you think?"

Situ Jing had promised to give you the money but never said when he'd give it or how much. This relationship was still up to him.

He didn’t think his request was unreasonable. At the end of September, he had gone abroad on a business trip and returned half a month later to restructure his old department. He had been so busy that he even slept at the office every day.

Bai Yu didn’t have to see him or do anything—all he had to do was stay at school to get five hundred eighty thousand. Where else could such a good deal be found?

Situ Jing knew that mentioning Bai Yu’s sister was the most effective way to make him obedient, but every time he brought her up, it made him slightly uncomfortable. This feeling had lingered ever since Bai Yu shook off his hand in front of his sister months ago.

As soon as Situ Jing finished speaking, Bai Yu lowered his head and reached for the box. "Where should I change?"

Situ Jing pointed to a door on the right side of the office. "Go in. I’ll join you shortly."

Bai Yu carried the box to the door and opened it to find a rest area of the same size as the office, equipped with a large bed, a wine cabinet, and a bathroom.

A crystal ashtray on the coffee table held a few cigarette butts, and several suits hung in the wardrobe nearby—all with long pants, clearly belonging to Situ Jing.

Had he been sleeping at the office lately?

Bai Yu stepped into the bathroom and showered, then took out the maid outfit. The fabric was light and thin, with several lace straps. Inside the box was a card with a diagram showing how the model wore it.

He followed the diagram: the top was a halter top with two sections of puff sleeves, exposing his fair shoulders. The skirt only just covered his bottom—any shorter and it would be unwearable.

The necklace with a bell, the lace headband, and the pearl garter were tangled together. Bai Yu took some time to separate them and fasten each in place.

Just as he was putting on the white stockings, a tall silhouette appeared outside. "Not done yet?"

Bai Yu jumped in surprise. "Almost, just a moment."

The AC was cranked up high inside, but Bai Yu’s cheeks still flushed slightly. He felt like none of this was real.

In the same building, his former honor student senior was buried in work, while he was forced to wear a maid outfit on the top floor to cater to his boss.

Thankfully, he had worn formal attire today. Perhaps his senior would think he was there for an interview or some other business.

Bai Yu slowly opened the door, clutching his light-gray suit in his hands.

His fair, straight legs were sheathed in white stockings, the lace pearl garter digging slightly into his flesh. The skirt hem curled upward, a pink bow tied around his slender waist. The right strap was loose, slipping down his shoulder.

Like a cat giving off an enticing scent.

Situ Jing sat on the sofa, his gaze nakedly fixed on him, his Adam’s apple moving slightly. "Come here."

Bai Yu hitched up the right strap, tugged at the skirt, and walked over. He placed his light-gray suit on the sofa and stood in front of Situ Jing.

    "Sit down."

Bai Yu perched on the coffee table in front of Situ Jing. The right strap slipped down again, and the two looked at each other, one seated higher, the other lower.

    Situ Jing: "..."

    "Sit on me."

Bai Yu’s ears tinged with pink as he slowly stood up and reluctantly sat facing Situ Jing, settling onto his lap. The man’s searing body heat was palpable even through their clothes.

Situ Jing’s hand tightened around Bai Yu’s waist as he kissed his right shoulder where the strap had slipped. "You got it on. Was it difficult?"

Bai Yu turned his face away. "No."

Just as the atmosphere grew intimate, a faint wisp of mint pheromones drifted past.

Situ Jing’s eyes cleared in an instant, and he pushed Bai Yu away abruptly. "You have the scent of another alpha on you?"
