Chapter 122 Extra: The Little Jealousy Jar

When we were hiring staff earlier, photos of Huan Huan and Xiao Yu holding wooden name signs at the door were posted online by a few girls. Many curious netizens came to visit out of curiosity, so business at the shop suddenly became much busier. As a result, Xie Yan started helping out at the flower shop whenever his clinic wasn’t too busy.

That day, I was organizing the upcoming flower seed orders, while Xie Yan helped attend to customers coming in to buy flowers. After entering the last order, I looked up and saw him standing by the floor-to-ceiling window in a clean, neat white shirt. His neatly trimmed short hair was bathed in the glow of the sunset, his light gray eyes, clear as glass, as he shook his head with an aloof expression at the customer across from him.

The girl opposite him blushed deeply after being rejected, her fingers gripping her phone so tightly they turned pale. She stood there dazed for a few seconds before turning and walking out of the flower shop, sniffling.

    “What are you looking at?”

Xie Yan had somehow made his way over to me. Unlike the cold detachment from before, his strikingly beautiful face, like a narcissus, now broke into a gentle, doting smile.

For a moment, I didn’t know what was wrong with me—I just felt a heaviness in my chest.

It was like a poor man’s only treasure had almost been snatched away.

I shook my head and didn’t say anything.

Xie Yan hadn’t done anything wrong, but I just felt unhappy. Yet, how could I claim the moon in the sky as my own?

    It was truly frustrating.

The time quietly approached four o’clock. Xie Yan didn’t have time to say much more to me, only hurriedly kissing my forehead before rushing off to pick up Huan Huan and Xiao Yu from kindergarten.

Suddenly, my mood sank to the bottom. I kept thinking about how to leave my mark on Xie Yan, something that belonged only to me, Feng Jiuyue.

All sorts of emotions surged up inside me, and I didn’t even notice the passage of time until a soft, little cheek pressed intimately against my face. Only then did I snap out of it, meeting a pair of beautiful, cat-like eyes.

“Daddy, Huan Huan called you several times, and you ignored me.”

“Daddy, look at Huan Huan’s little badge.”

Huan Huan and Xiao Yu had an activity at kindergarten today. Huan Huan was voted the most beautiful little darling by the children, so he played the most beautiful princess in the play. He was wearing a pink princess dress, its layered skirt billowing around his fair, delicate legs. His curly brown hair framed his delicately featured, fair face.

If Huan Huan hadn’t reminded me, I wouldn’t have noticed the little badge pinned to his chest. On the front was a small pink flower, and on the back it read, “Xiao Qiu’s treasure Huan Huan.”

“This is…” I widened my eyes in surprise, then turned to see Xiao Yu dressed as a prince, looking every bit the cool kid.

Xiao Yu had been voted the coolest little treasure by the kids, hence his prince costume. His prop outfit was very realistic, complete with an impressive prince’s sword at his waist. He also had a little badge pinned to his chest—on the front was a tuft of green grass, and on the back it read, “Xiao Qiu’s treasure Xiao Yu.”

“Now, I wonder if Xiao Qiu will be satisfied with this?” Xie Yan said as he walked over to me.

He also had a little badge pinned to his white shirt. On the front was a pink heart, and on the back it boldly read, “Treasure Xiao Qiu’s lover.” His light gray eyes had already seen through everything, filled with teasing and amusement.

Xie Yan smirked slightly, then pinned a small crown badge that read “Treasure Xiao Qiu” onto my shirt. “Does this satisfy you now?”

    “My little vinegar jar.”

    【Author’s Note】

Here’s an extra chapter, inspired by a short video, hehe.

Assuming it was set in a modern background from the start:

Twenty-year-old Xie Yan and eighteen-year-old Xiao Qiu were living together. On weekends, when Xie Yan went out to work, he worried that Xiao Qiu might be lured away by bad people. Leaning against the door, unwilling to leave, he patted her head and pinched her cheek, saying seriously:

“If a stranger knocks, remember not to open the door.”

    “Alright,” Xiao Qiu said softly.

Later, when the two had children, it became Xiao Qiu bending down to kiss each of our babies’ pink cheeks, gently instructing, “If a stranger knocks, don’t open the door.”

    “Daddy will be right back.”

Later still, Huan Huan and Xiao Yu attended the same university. The two brothers rented an apartment off-campus so they could look out for each other.

Xie Yu went out on weekends to take care of business. With a stern, cool expression, he looked down at his little brother and said seriously, “I’m going out for a bit. No matter who knocks, don’t open the door.”

“Okay,” Huan Huan said, standing on tiptoe to nuzzle his brother’s cheek just like when they were little, smiling sweetly. “My brother Xie Yu.”
