Chapter 7 Parking Spot
byChapter 7: A Parking Spot
Cheng Feng returned to the dorm, which was still empty.
He sat on the sofa, having nothing to do, and zoned out for a while.
He felt like he was wasting his time.
He needed to find something to do.
So he pulled out his phone and sent a message to Butler Liu: "Butler Liu, can I park my motorcycle outside the estate?"
He waited a good while for a reply:
"No vehicles are allowed outside, and it's unsafe. You can't ride inside the estate either. What's the reason you want to park your motorcycle outside?"
Cheng Feng laid out his plan of using his free time to deliver food for extra cash, telling Butler Liu everything in detail.
This time, the wait was even longer.
Finally, Butler Liu's message came through:
"Alright, here's what you can do. Contact Brother Li. I've already arranged a parking space for you in the garage. Remember to use the back gate—the small gate on the west side—when riding out. Under no circumstances use the main gate."
Cheng Feng was a little taken aback; he hadn't expected such a good deal.
Was Butler Liu giving him special treatment?
"Okay, thank you, Butler Liu."
He immediately found Brother Li's contact information and briefly explained the situation.
Soon, Brother Li took him to the underground garage and pointed to an empty spot next to Butler Liu's parking space:
"That's the spot reserved for you."
As a final note, he specifically reminded him, "Be careful when you ride. All the cars parked here are luxury vehicles, so don't go touching or bumping into them."
Cheng Feng nodded obediently.
Back in the dorm, he figured he needed to go back to the grilled fish restaurant to ride his motorcycle over.
Taking a taxi back would cost about fifteen bucks.
Cheng Feng had always been frugal, so his first instinct was to walk back.
But then he reconsidered: walking would take time he could use to run several deliveries, which could earn back the taxi fare. He hesitated.
He waffled for a bit, and had already walked over half a mile. In the end, he continued on foot.
Along the way, he was in a pretty good mood, even humming a little tune.
Halfway there, a low rumble of thunder suddenly rolled across the sky. Cheng Feng's heart tightened, thinking it was about to rain, and he immediately quickened his pace, breaking into a run.
He ran a good ways, but the rain didn't come—only a few more rumbles of thunder sounded.
Even so, to be safe, he didn't dare slow down and hurried all the way to the grilled fish restaurant.
The moment he got to the shop, the boss saw him, his face full of surprise:
"Why are you back?"
"I plan to do some food delivery and also ride my motorcycle over to the Shang Family Estate."
The boss was even more astonished: "You're going to park your bike in the Shang Family Estate's parking lot? That's the Shang family's territory; outsiders aren't allowed to park there at all! Doing food delivery is fine, but definitely don't park your bike nearby, or you'll easily get scolded."
Cheng Feng smiled: "Butler Liu has already arranged a parking spot for me. It's fine."
The boss's eyes flickered: "Butler Liu Zhihong from the Shang family?"
Cheng Feng nodded.
The shock on the boss's face deepened. He reached out and patted Cheng Feng's shoulder, speaking earnestly:
"Work hard! The fact that he's specifically looking out for you means he genuinely sees potential in you. Butler Liu is no ordinary person. If you can gain his favor, your future will definitely get better and better."
Cheng Feng nodded seriously in agreement and didn't chat further.
He still needed to hurry and start his food delivery runs.
After briefly exchanging a few more words with the boss, he turned to push his motorcycle.
He set out around 4 p.m. and kept delivering until 9:30 p.m. before riding his motorcycle back to the Shang Family Estate.
At the west side back gate.
Two security guards were stationed at the entrance. He proactively showed his work badge and entered smoothly.
He parked his motorcycle in his designated spot in the garage.
Then he returned to the dormitory.
As soon as he pushed the door open, the room was lively.
Luo Jun was leaning back on the sofa playing a game, with his phone beside him playing the recently super-popular rock song "Teeth."
The powerful, rhythmic melody filled the entire living room.
Fang Xuran, meanwhile, was sitting on the other side of the sofa reading a book, gently turning the pages, his expression focused.
Both of them glanced at Cheng Feng's return but didn't get up to greet him, continuing with their own activities as if he weren't there.
Cheng Feng hadn't planned to interact with them much anyway. He walked straight back to his room, pulled out a set of pajamas, and went to the bathroom to wash up.
By the time he finished washing up, it was already 10 p.m.
The rock music was still playing in the living room.
Fortunately, their villa was some distance from the young master's villa, and the villa's soundproofing was good.
Otherwise, they'd probably get scolded.
Cheng Feng was very tired and wanted to rest early. The music was affecting his sleep. He walked to his room door, his gaze falling on the two in the living room. After hesitating for a moment, he still spoke softly:
"Can you turn off the music?"
Luo Jun was immersed in his game and didn't hear him at all, still tapping rapidly on the screen.
Fang Xuran, however, heard him clearly. He looked up, glanced at Luo Jun, and lightly kicked him with his foot,
"Someone wants to sleep, turn the music off."
That kick got Luo Jun's game character killed. He glared angrily at Fang Xuran,
"What are you doing? Got a problem with your feet?"
Fang Xuran, "Someone wants to sleep. You're playing music and disturbing him."
Luo Jun looked up at Cheng Feng, his face fell, looking annoyed. Still, he turned the music down even more, then lowered his head and continued playing the game.
It wasn't loud anymore.
Cheng Feng turned and went back to his room, climbing into bed.
As soon as he lay down, a faint, fresh scent greeted him. The quilt was soft, like being wrapped in a cloud, fitting snugly against his skin and feeling exceptionally comfortable.
This bed and bedding were the best he had ever slept on in his life, leagues better than the hard bed in the grilled fish shop's dormitory.
He wasn't fond of playing with his phone, so he casually placed it on the bedside table and closed his eyes.
Worn out from the day's travels,
Cheng Feng was already very tired and sleepy. Coupled with his long-standing habit of going to bed early, he had just lain down when, within a few minutes, he fell into a deep sleep.
