Chapter 32 Has Talent
byChapter 32: A Natural Talent
Pushing the door open, Shang Nanzhou and Shang Xu peered in together.
They saw a boy wearing a white short-sleeved shirt and black dress pants sitting upright at the piano.
His gaze was lowered slightly, focusing intently on the keys, his slender fingers moving nimbly across the black and white piano keys.
Shang Nanzhou stopped short, gaping, and instinctively looked at Shang Xu beside him.
"Brother... he..."
Shang Xu frowned slightly. "Call Shang Shaohao."
"Oh, okay."
Shang Nanzhou hurriedly turned and left the piano room to call Shang Shaohao.
Shang Xu leaned against the doorframe, his eyes on Cheng Feng's profile, watching him quietly.
Cheng Feng was completely absorbed in playing, completely unaware that the door had been opened, let alone that someone was now standing behind him.
It wasn't until he caught sight of a pair of shoes out of the corner of his eye that his hands paused.
These weren't the Young Master's shoes!
Cheng Feng's heart tightened, and he looked up sharply.
When he met Shang Xu's stern face, his heart skipped a beat. He scrambled to his feet from the piano bench.
"Y-Young Master... I..."
Was he in trouble?
Would he be fired on the spot?
The more Cheng Feng thought about it, the more nervous he became, and his palms began to sweat.
Shang Xu spoke slowly, his tone so flat it was impossible to discern any emotion.
"You hit a wrong note earlier."
As he finished speaking, his slender fingers pressed a few keys on the piano, playing the correct notes.
Cheng Feng was stunned for a few seconds before it registered.
No wonder something felt off earlier; he had indeed played a wrong note.
He glanced up at Shang Xu, then immediately lowered his head again, his voice faint.
"Thank you, Young Master."
Shang Xu asked calmly, "Have you learned piano before?"
Cheng Feng shook his head, answering honestly.
"No."
At that moment, Shang Nanzhou pushed the door open and walked in, exclaiming, "Brother, that brat ran off to a karaoke bar. Should we drag him back?"
Shang Xu shook his head, his gaze returning to Cheng Feng. His tone remained even. "Keep playing."
Cheng Feng blinked, hesitated for a moment, but still sat back down on the piano bench.
He glanced sideways at Shang Xu standing nearby, took a deep breath, and then raised his hands again, beginning to play carefully.
Shang Xu listened for a while, then suddenly reached out and pressed a key. "Here, it needs to be like this. Press this one like this..."
Cheng Feng quickly nodded. "Okay."
Shang Nanzhou watched from the side, dumbfounded.
"Brother, you're letting a housekeeper play the piano?"
Shang Xu said calmly, "He's talented."
Hearing this, Cheng Feng's heart gave a sudden thump, and he felt a surge of joy.
So, he actually played quite well? This was his first time touching a piano, and he was already being praised as talented by the Young Master.
Shang Nanzhou tilted his head, studying him. Suddenly noticing the irrepressible smile at the corner of Cheng Feng's mouth, he deliberately raised his voice.
"Hey? Xiao Feng, right? What are you smiling about?"
Cheng Feng was startled and quickly wiped the smile off his face.
"Nothing."
Shang Nanzhou: "Huh? Still saying it's nothing? Playing the piano makes you that happy?"
Cheng Feng looked up at him and smiled slightly.
"Yes, very happy."
Shang Nanzhou was taken aback by his bright smile and scratched his head.
"Haha, as long as you're happy. Keep it up."
Shang Xu spoke calmly. "If you want to practice the piano in the future, you can use my piano room. I usually don't practice on Wednesdays and Thursdays."
Hearing this, Cheng Feng's eyes widened.
Letting him use the piano room for free? This treatment was too good.
He immediately stood up from the piano bench and bowed respectfully to Shang Xu.
"Thank you, Young Master."
Shang Xu didn't say anything more. He listened to Cheng Feng play for a while longer, then answered a phone call and turned to leave.
Only Shang Nanzhou remained in the piano room. Leaning against the piano stand, he propped his chin on his hand, studying Cheng Feng. He couldn't help but let out a soft "tsk."
"Xiao Feng, are you really playing the piano for the first time?"
Cheng Feng nodded seriously.
Shang Nanzhou still looked utterly unconvinced, muttering to himself in disbelief.
This talent is too scary, isn't it? Playing like this on the first try? How am I supposed to feel, someone who's been learning for years and still plays just average?
He listened for a while longer, then raised his phone and started recording a video of Cheng Feng before dialing Shang Shaohao’s number:
“Take a look, even your nanny plays better than you on his first try. And you still have the nerve to go out and play?”
An indignant voice came from the other end of the line:
“He’s him and I’m me. Am I him? Is he me? If he’s good, he’s good—what does that have to do with me?”
“What nonsense.” Shang Nanzhou snorted. “I’ll let it slide this time, but don’t count on it next time.”
“Oh. Well, thanks, I guess.”
“Say, ‘Thank you, brother.’”
“Oh, thank you…”
“…”
