Chapter 8: A Young and Handsome Guy

    The next morning, early.

At exactly seven o'clock, Cheng Feng woke up on time, a biological clock ingrained in his bones.

He sat quietly on the bed.

He glanced at the two beds next to him, still buried in bedding, where Luo Jun and Fang Xuran were sound asleep.

He got out of bed quietly and walked into the bathroom.

His gaze fell on the bathroom counter, and he was momentarily stunned.

An exquisite, translucent cup, a brand-new electric toothbrush, and toothpaste with fancy packaging.

So this is the kind of stuff rich people use every day.

He stared at that beautiful cup for a while.

This one cup probably cost as much as several of the ones he'd used before.

In the future, when he earned his own money, he would buy cups just as nice and sturdy too.

After washing up quickly, Cheng Feng changed into the summer work uniform issued yesterday.

He'd washed it and hung it up to dry while cleaning the day before.

Now, wearing it, it still carried the fresh scent of sunshine.

The white short-sleeved shirt made him look tall and trim, while the black suit trousers fit him smoothly, making his legs appear long and straight, giving him exceptionally good proportions.

His time delivering food had given his skin a healthy, light tan; it wasn't dark, and he was still fairer than most.

His cheeks retained a youthful softness, full of collagen, making him look especially young.

He had the grilled fish shop owner to thank for that.

He got to eat the shop's leftovers every day.

He'd put on some weight because of it, and he looked much healthier than when he first came from the mountains.

If it were the thin, frail version of himself from a few months ago, wearing this uniform would probably just hang on him like on a coat hanger, without any shape to it.

He reached up to push back the hair that had gotten too long on his forehead. He had forgotten to get a haircut recently, and the strands were almost covering his eyes.

His fingertips gently parted his hair into a four-six split, revealing a pair of narrow, long eyes with slightly upturned outer corners, with a hint of unintentional, devil-may-care charm.

    Satisfied he looked presentable,

Cheng Feng tried to move as quietly as possible out of the room, not wanting to disturb the other two.

    Outside the villa,

the chilly morning breeze hit his face.

    He took a deep breath.

The air was filled with the scent of grass and flowers. The place was full of lawns and trees, and the air was so fresh it felt invigorating.

    Bodyguards were patrolling nearby too.

Their steps were steady, their expressions serious.

Cheng Feng wandered leisurely around the area for a while. Most people were still asleep, but quite a few had already started their busy day.

Several girls in maid uniforms were walking along a small path, huddled together and speaking in hushed tones, their voices barely above a whisper, as if afraid to disturb anyone.

The girls glanced at Cheng Feng, they paused for a second, their eyes wide with surprise, then started whispering to each other:

"Is that guy new? He's way too good-looking!"

"He looks really young, pretty tall, and he's got a nice vibe."

"He came out of the villa near the young master's place; he's probably the new housekeeper hired yesterday, right?"

"It's a shame someone so handsome is just a servant. What a waste."

"Shh, don't say that! I heard getting a job here as staff takes connections. He might be from some rich family. Don't underestimate him!"

"Huh? So he could be a young master from another household? Should we go over and say hi?"

"Say hi? Have you forgotten we're on the clock? If we don't hurry, we'll be late and get chewed out again!"

    "Fine..."

Cheng Feng had noticed their gazes long ago; those stares were too intense to ignore.

He scratched his head, feeling a bit awkward.

    Just then, his stomach growled.

He checked the time on his phone; it was exactly 7:30, right when the staff cafeteria started serving breakfast.

He quickened his pace towards the cafeteria.

As soon as he entered, he saw many bodyguards already sitting inside eating breakfast. The sound of chatter and laughter made the place particularly noisy.

Cheng Feng walked up to the serving line. The electronic screen above clearly listed the breakfast varieties, the long list making his mouth water.

Noodles with savory minced pork, minced meat and scallion rolls, hot pot rice noodles, paper-thin *shaomai*, cabbage and pork dumplings, homestyle meat and egg thin pancakes, pumpkin yam millet porridge, thumb-sized buns, sour soup wontons, fried chicken nuggets, lamb noodles, clear broth noodles, cheese-baked sweet potatoes, red bean small glutinous rice balls, leavened egg pancakes, plus fresh eggs, grilled sausages, and buns in various flavors...

There were more delicious options than he could count.

Cheng Feng was dazzled and couldn't help marveling to himself.

With such a lavish breakfast spread, the uncles and aunts in the cafeteria must have gotten up in the wee hours to prepare!

The server behind the counter, seeing the good-looking young man just standing there staring without ordering, smiled and asked:

"Handsome young man, what would you like to eat?"

Cheng Feng wanted to try a bite of everything, but ordering too much would be wasteful. He could eat here every day, so there was no rush:

"Auntie, I'd like one serving of noodles with savory minced pork, one serving of thumb-sized buns, a bowl of pumpkin yam millet porridge, and two minced meat and scallion rolls, please. Also, could I get a cup of hot milk? Thank you."

His tray was piled high with food.

Cheng Feng found an empty seat, sat down, picked up his chopsticks, and began eating heartily.

The noodles, coated in a rich, savory sauce, were delightfully chewy.

The thumb-sized buns were packed with savory flavor in every bite, and the millet porridge was cooked to a soft, sweet perfection, every spoonful a delight to the taste buds.

    So delicious!

Just as he was enjoying his meal, a girl in a maid uniform, carrying a tray, sat down opposite him.

She looked up with a gentle smile and greeted him softly:

    "Hello."

Cheng Feng paused his movements and responded politely:

    "Hello."

A faint blush spread across the girl's cheeks as she gazed at him with sparkling eyes, striking up a conversation:

"What's your name? Are you new here? Which villa do you work in?"

Cheng Feng: "At the young master's place."

Confirming he was new, her eyes filled with curiosity as she studied him closely:

"You look so young. Are you a university student?"

Cheng Feng blinked and shook his head lightly:

    "No."

"So you've already graduated? You seem really young. Are you 24?" the girl pressed further.

Cheng Feng shook his head awkwardly:

    "No."

He didn't want to keep talking—if they did, she'd likely ask about his age and education, which would probably lead to talking about his dropping out of school, something he preferred not to discuss.

Cheng Feng started eating faster, stuffing the remaining thumb buns into his mouth in a few bites, tilting his head back to drain his cup of hot milk, then stood up with his tray. He hurriedly told the girl:

"I'm done eating. I'll head out first. Goodbye."

The girl looked like she wanted to say more, but Cheng Feng didn't give her the chance, turning and walking away briskly without looking back.
