Chapter 138: The Night Before the Wedding

The night before the wedding, Cheng Feng tossed and turned in bed, wide awake, so he got up and headed out to the garden to pace around.

He ran into Ye Tan sneaking back late.

"Cousin, why aren't you in bed yet? What are you doing walking around here?"

Cheng Feng jumped and frowned back:

"I should be asking you—why are you sneaking in so late? Where've you been? Out robbing someone?"

Ye Tan grinned slyly, his eyes darting away: "Just... went out to hang out with friends for a bit."

Cheng Feng leaned in and caught the faint smell of booze on him: "You been drinking?"

"Yeah," Ye Tan nodded, grinning happily. "My cousin's getting married—I'm happy, man."

Cheng Feng clapped him on the shoulder: "Come back earlier next time. Now get to bed."

    "Got it, cousin."

Cheng Feng watched him run off, knowing full well that Ye Tan had probably sneaked off to meet the girl his family doesn't approve of.

He sat alone in the garden, staring up at the starry sky, his feelings all tangled up.

He'd liked Shang Xu for years, had a secret crush on him forever, and tomorrow, he'd finally get what he wanted.

    His eyes stung.

    He video-called Shang Xu.

    "Babe, I miss you."

Shang Xu on the other end looked like he'd just woken up, his hair a bit messy. Hearing that, he paused. "Get some sleep. You still have to get up early tomorrow."

Cheng Feng pouted his lips. "Babe, I miss you."

Shang Xu's cheeks slowly reddened. "Mm."

Cheng Feng snorted. "Just an 'mm'? Don't you have anything to say back?"

Shang Xu watched Cheng Feng on the screen. Cheng Feng was sitting in the pavilion, moonlight spilling down, lighting up his profile and making his face look even sharper and hotter. His upturned eyes made him look like a little fox.

    "I miss you too."

That was the first time Cheng Feng had ever heard him say that. He tilted his head.

    "Babe, goodnight~ mwah~"

Shang Xu ducked his head down, showing just his forehead.

Cheng Feng laughed, hung up, and ran back to his room. He flopped down on the bed, thinking about their wedding night the next day, and rolled around happily until he fell asleep.

The next morning, before the sun was even up, Cheng Feng was woken up to get ready.

Guys don't need much makeup, but a little sprucing up is still a must.

His skin was naturally fair and flawless, so he didn't need much adornment. He just got his hair done, put on a crisp white suit, held a bouquet, and got into the car.

Outside the window, over a hundred luxury cars stretched out like a dragon, belonging to both the Ye and Shang families, a huge spectacle. As they passed, crowds gathered to cheer and gawk, flowers and good wishes lining the streets.

People on the street, seeing this commotion, got curious:

"Whose wedding is this? So many fancy cars."

"The Shang family and the Ye family."

"Oh, I know the Ye family—is it that gorgeous girl Ye Ximo?"

"No, it's the newly returned eldest son of the Ye family, Cheng Feng. He's really good-looking."

"Is he marrying the second daughter of the Shang family?"

"No, he's marrying the eldest son of the Shang family."

    "Damn, that's wild."

"You don't know this? Go scroll through those short video apps."

    "..."

At the entrance of the Shang family estate, guests gathered, everyone wearing smiles.

Shang Xu was in a black custom suit, his posture tall and straight, his hair neatly combed and sharp, exuding a powerful aura—noble and restrained.

On his usually cool face, a faint smile now hid in his eyes.

As soon as Cheng Feng got out of the car, he had been fairly calm inside, but the moment he met Shang Xu's tender gaze, his heart suddenly burned, and his cheeks quietly flushed with a hint of shyness.

Shang Xu slowly walked over and extended his hand to him.

That hand was fair, slender, with well-defined knuckles—so beautiful it was hard to look away.

Cheng Feng's heart pounded like a drum. He gently placed his hand on top, looked up at him, and softly called out, "Eldest Young Master."

Shang Xu looked down at him, his voice gentle: "Mm."

He took Cheng Feng's hand and led him forward step by step.

Cheng Feng initially followed slightly behind him, then gradually walked shoulder to shoulder with him, the two of them stepping onto the red carpet together, receiving everyone's gazes and blessings.

Many guests held up their phones to record, the camera capturing a dazzlingly radiant couple.

Shang Zixuan looked at Ye Ximo and said quietly, "You look like you're about to cry. Are you still not over my brother?"

Ye Ximo wiped her tears. "No, I'm just happy for my cousin. He told me about him and Shang Xu. I wish them well."

Shang Zixuan put an arm around her shoulder. "You're amazing. You'll definitely find someone even better than my brother."

Ye Ximo smiled but said nothing. She knew it was just comfort—after all, who could be as perfect as Shang Xu?

Zhang Yuantao clicked his tongue twice. "Brother Hao, I told you they had something going on. Back then, you said they didn't."

Shang Shaohao gave a dry laugh and scratched his head. "How was I supposed to know that Cheng Feng kid could actually win over my brother? You know what my brother's like—so aloof. No one would ever think he'd fall for a man. That Cheng Feng kid is really sneaky, secretly going after my brother. I really did let a wolf into the house."

Zhang Yuantao said, "You're getting married soon too, right? I heard you've already been to her house."

Shang Shaohao smoothed his hair. "Yeah, soon. Planning to set it for the end of next year. Make sure to come to my wedding feast next time."

Zhang Yuantao gave him a light punch on the shoulder. "Of course, bro."

On the other side, Luo Jun and Fang Xuran were chatting quietly.

Luo Jun took a sip of wine, a bit emotional. "Damn, Cheng Feng is incredible. I thought he was just a nanny, but he ended up becoming the head of the household."

Fang Xuran smiled. He hadn't expected that kid to be so bold, straight-up seducing Shang Xu and actually succeeding. He glanced at the two newlyweds on the stage, his gaze filled with blessings, and whipped out his phone to film along with everyone else.

The wedding banquet was lively until nine in the evening before slowly winding down.

Cheng Feng had drunk quite a bit, his cheeks flushed.

Shang Xu was also slightly tipsy, his eyes much softer than usual.

They supported each other, their steps unsteady as they entered the newlywed room.

Cheng Feng, usually bold and carefree, suddenly got cold feet once inside the room. He fidgeted, rubbing his hands and tugging at his sleeves, his heart racing like crazy.

The atmosphere was quiet and intimate.

After a long silence, Cheng Feng glanced at Shang Xu and noticed he was looking down, his face very red. He tentatively reached out and took Shang Xu's hand. The moment he held it, his fingertips began to grow warm. He asked softly:

"Young Master, should we... count the red envelopes first, or... get to the wedding night?"
