    Chapter 93: Adding an Alt

The other side remained silent for a long time. Just as Cheng Feng thought he wouldn’t reply, a line of text popped up in the chat: “Probably because I drank coffee.”

They played for a while. Cheng Feng remembered other servants saying that Shang Xu usually went to bed very early, so he asked, “Brother Xu, are you sleepy now? If you’re tired, we can stop for now.”

    “Not sleepy at the moment.”

Cheng Feng stared at Brother Xu’s account on the screen: “Brother Xu, your account has so many badges. Did you play games often before?”

“No, just played a bit recently.”

“If you only started playing recently, did you get all these badges just this past while? That’s really impressive.”

“Sort of. I didn’t play much before—just occasionally played a bit with family.”

Cheng Feng felt a warmth in his heart. Online, Shang Xu answered every question without any of his usual noble, imposing aloofness. He was as approachable as an ordinary peer—neither intimidating nor distant, and incredibly easy to talk to.

At that moment, a faint, wild hope arose within him. It seemed the distance between him and Elder Master Shang wasn’t so vast after all. It seemed that through such ordinary chatting, he, too, wasn’t so far beneath him.

One game ended. The guest account sent a message saying he was getting a bit sleepy. Without much further conversation, he exited the room—but before leaving, he sent another Porsche gift.

Cheng Feng was left wanting more, with many questions unasked. He could only send a friend request first, then close the livestream.

Lying in bed, Cheng Feng stared wide-eyed at the ceiling, utterly sleepless.

Images from the afternoon at the bowling alley flashed repeatedly in his mind. Shang Xu, wearing that purple jacket, stood tall and straight—noble and elegant. Every move exuded an aloofness that kept others at a distance, yet Cheng Feng couldn’t look away.

He warned himself over and over in his heart: *Cheng Feng, there’s a huge gap in status between you and the young master. He will only marry someone from a similar background. It’s simply impossible. Don’t delude yourself.*

But that tiny longing in his heart grew like wild grass. The more he suppressed it, the more he couldn’t help but yearn—to get close to him, to possess him, to claim even a sliver of space in the gaze of that high-and-mighty Elder Master Shang.

    …

The class monitor walked up to Cheng Feng and handed him a form: “Do you want to sign up for the piano competition?”

Seeing it was the piano competition registration form, Cheng Feng took it and immediately began filling it out with a pen.

After class, he returned to the villa.

Seeing him return, Shang Shaohao sat up straight from the sofa and said:

“Cheng Feng, come out with me.”

Cheng Feng: “Brother Hao, where to?”

“I’m going to pursue that girl. Come with me and help me brainstorm ideas.”

Cheng Feng was stunned. “Young Master—I mean, Brother Hao—I’ve never even been in a relationship. How would I know about these things? Even if I did, I wouldn’t want to go and be a third wheel. And what would my involvement even mean? Why don’t you ask the Third Young Master—or Zhang Yuantao? They should know more about this than I do.”

Shang Shaohao snorted. “My third brother is busy. As for that dog Zhang Yuantao, he went to a bar to drink with female models. He won’t go with me.”

Cheng Feng sighed. Hearing this, he actually *did* want to accompany the young master—but he truly wasn’t knowledgeable about matters of the heart. He himself was still harboring a secret crush.

“Brother Hao, I signed up for the piano competition. I need to stay and practice.”

Shang Shaohao pursed his lips, slightly unhappy, but didn’t say much more. He left with a few bodyguards in tow.

Cheng Feng assumed Elder Master Shang Xu wasn’t in the villa. Walking to the piano room door, he pushed it open—and saw Shang Xu asleep, slumped over the piano.

Cheng Feng froze for a moment. He’d forgotten the young master was still in the piano room.

The window was open. Leaves outside rustled gently in the wind, and a yellow fallen leaf drifted in, landing right atop Shang Xu’s head.

Cheng Feng hesitated for a moment, then slowly stepped into the room. He approached Shang Xu and slightly lowered his head to look at his profile.

Shang Xu’s profile was truly handsome. His eyelashes were long, his skin fine and delicate, with a tiny mole beneath his eye. His lips were pink—soft and moist. Usually, his profile appeared sharp and aggressive, but asleep, he looked especially gentle.

Sunlight streamed through the window, falling directly onto Shang Xu’s head, turning each strand of hair golden—as if glowing.

Cheng Feng slowly reached out and lifted the fallen leaf from Shang Xu’s head. Just as he withdrew his hand, he met Shang Xu’s slowly opening eyes.

Cheng Feng froze, feeling a vague sense of guilt—though he wasn’t entirely sure why. He watched as the young master’s eyelashes fluttered slightly, like a feather brushing lightly across his heart. His Adam’s apple bobbed, and he held out the leaf in his hand for him to see:

“Young Master, there was a fallen leaf on your head.”

Shang Xu avoided his direct gaze.

    “You…”

Cheng Feng knew he was deliberately avoiding him—probably feeling embarrassed too. He quickly continued: “Young Master, I need to practice the piano. I signed up for a competition. I thought you weren’t here, so I came in to check. I didn’t expect you to be… Sorry for disturbing you, Young Master.”

Shang Xu was silent for a moment, then sat up straight and motioned for him to sit beside him. “What piece are you playing for the competition?”

Cheng Feng quickly sat down and told him the piece.

He’d originally assumed Shang Xu would watch him play for a while and then leave. Unexpectedly, Shang Xu personally demonstrated how to play it, patiently taught him, and helped correct his mistakes.

That entire afternoon, Cheng Feng felt inexplicably calm and peaceful inside—deeply comfortable.

It seemed that simply being with Shang Xu warmed his heart, like soaking in a hot spring—filling his whole being with delight.

    …

At the school’s piano room, just after Cheng Feng finished performing, a male student walked over, looking at him with hostility in his eyes.

This student was named Liang Wenfan—the *N*th person to give Cheng Feng trouble since he transferred to this school.

He was a troublemaker—but played the piano exceptionally well. His competition scores were always neck and neck with Cheng Feng’s.

Liang Wenfan smiled, with a hint of provocation:

“Did you run off to some crash course for intensive practice? But no matter how hard you try, first place in this national competition will definitely be mine. You can just *be the runner-up*. I’ll definitely beat you—don’t get too cocky.”

Actually, Cheng Feng quite admired Liang Wenfan. He seemed like a slacker—but once Cheng Feng passed by the piano room and saw him still practicing inside, he realized Liang Wenfan worked much harder than he’d imagined.

So Cheng Feng said: “Then do your best. I believe you can do it.”

Liang Wenfan was stunned. “Aren’t you afraid I’ll surpass you? Do you genuinely hope I surpass you—or are you being sarcastic?”

Cheng Feng replied: “If your skill truly surpasses mine and you win first place, then I congratulate you. But I’m not your only opponent in the competition—there are many others. Do your best. I have things to do—I’m leaving now.”

Liang Wenfan tilted his head, watching the direction Cheng Feng left, narrowed his eyes—and unconsciously clenched his fist.

That evening, Cheng Feng opened the livestreaming software and the game software.

He now had thirty thousand followers. Compared to streamers with millions, it wasn’t a lot—but these were all active fans. Every livestream attracted over two thousand viewers, which was better than many big streamers.

He played with a female viewer for a while. Not seeing Shang Xu’s guest account enter the livestream, he felt a bit disappointed. He wondered—maybe Shang Xu’s earlier appearance had just been out of novelty, a casual visit to take a look?

To his surprise, around ten o’clock that evening, that familiar guest account popped into the stream again.

As soon as Cheng Feng saw the account, a smile immediately tugged at his lips.

A moment later, the guest account’s name was changed to “Brother Xu.”

Shortly after “Brother Xu” entered, he directly sent a *Carnival* gift.

Cheng Feng quickly greeted him and thanked him: “Good evening, Brother Xu! Thank you for the gift! This game will be over soon. I’ll play with you right after it ends.”

    [Brother Xu]: “Mm.”

Wanting to wrap up sooner to play with Shang Xu, Cheng Feng pushed for the towers much faster. In less than ten minutes, the opposing team surrendered.

He’d figured Shang Xu wouldn’t have the patience to wait, but Shang Xu had stayed in the livestream watching him the whole time.

Once Shang Xu logged into his game account, Cheng Feng immediately invited him into his stream.

Cheng Feng usually didn’t talk much, but whenever he encountered Shang Xu, he ended up talking a lot more.

“Brother Xu, don’t you think typing is a pain? Why don’t you turn on your mic?”

[Brother Xu]: “It’s kind of noisy here, so it’s not really convenient.”

“Oh, right, Brother Xu, how old are you?”

[Brother Xu]: “How old are you?”

Cheng Feng smiled. The young master was still pretending—how could he not know his age? So he said, “I’m almost 19.”

    [Brother Xu]: “Mm.”

“Are you a guy or a girl?”

    [Brother Xu]: “Guy.”

“Brother Xu, you’re so aloof. Are you always this quiet?”

    [Brother Xu]: “Generally.”

“Brother Xu, do you have a girlfriend?”

    No response.

Cheng Feng knew perfectly well that Shang Xu definitely wouldn’t mention having a fiancée—probably to avoid exposing his identity. So he asked again, “Brother Xu, is there someone you like?”

    Still no answer.

Cheng Feng wanted to know a bit more. Even though he knew he was prying, the young master was so good—so good that he always wanted to push his luck, and he was growing bolder in doing so.

“Then, Brother Xu… you, do you like men or women?”

[Brother Xu]: “Why do you ask?”

Cheng Feng chuckled and continued probing, “Nothing, just pure curiosity. Nowadays, many guys get together with guys too—it’s pretty normal. What do you think about guys being together?”

[Brother Xu] didn’t answer that question. Instead, he asked back, “Then do you like men or women?”

“Me? Brother Xu, what do you think—do I like men or women?”

[Brother Xu]: “I don’t really know you.”

“Then do you want to get to know me?”

    [Brother Xu]: “How?”

Cheng Feng’s heart raced wildly. Was the young master saying he wanted to know him? He took a deep breath. Only then did he realize that being hit on a lot wasn’t without its benefits—at least he’d learned quite a few flirting tricks.

“It’s easy to get to know me, Brother Xu. Let’s swap contact info. Then whenever you want to play, you can just message me directly—no need to wait for my stream. We’ll play more, chat more, and naturally get more familiar. Won’t that help you know me better?”

The stream ended, and the game was over.

Cheng Feng smiled and added Shang Xu’s WeChat account. He could tell right away it was Shang Xu’s alt account—even the profile picture was the system default, probably newly registered.
