Chapter 27 Outfit and Styling
byChapter 27: Clothes, Style
Cheng Feng was sorting through the clothes in the fitting room and glanced at the price tag.
Oh my god!
A single shirt costs 690,000?
A pair of pants costs 550,000?
Even the undershirt costs 360,000?
What the...
Cheng Feng gasped, his heart pounding wildly, wishing he could tear off the price tags and convert them into cash on the spot.
If he could just get the money directly, wouldn't he skyrocket to success and become instantly wealthy?
Holding clothes worth hundreds of thousands, his heart ached with every beat, as if he were clutching not fabric, but cold, hard cash.
He changed into the clothes. The moment the fabric touched his skin, the delicate, silky texture made him let out an involuntary sigh. The material was truly excellent, soft as clouds enveloping his body, carrying a faint, fresh scent without a hint of cheap odor.
He stepped out of the fitting room. The salesperson nearby immediately approached upon seeing him, slightly surprised by his appearance.
Clothes make the man.
Cheng Feng's looks weren't bad to begin with—his features were handsome and refined. It was just that his usual plain attire exuded a threadbare look.
Now, dressed in well-tailored, high-quality clothes, his entire vibe instantly elevated. There was no trace of the awkwardness from wearing his old bargain-bin clothes; he looked every bit like a pampered young master from a wealthy family. Only his slightly tanned skin was the only flaw; if he were a few shades fairer, he would likely be even more striking.
The salesperson looked him up and down, then turned to Shang Xu and respectfully asked, "Young Master, what do you think of this outfit?"
Without looking up, Shang Xu replied indifferently, "Ask him. Does it fit?"
The salesperson immediately turned to Cheng Feng, smiling as she pointed to the full-length mirror nearby. "Sir, why don't you take a look yourself? There's a mirror here. See if it fits."
Cheng Feng felt a bit embarrassed. The clothes were too cool, and he wasn't quite used to it.
In the mirror, the young man wore a blue-gray color-blocked top, paired with loose-fitting trousers with metal chains dangling on the side—clean yet edgy.
The salesperson then brought over a minimalist necklace and put it on him, instantly elevating the whole look.
Looking at his new look in the mirror, Cheng Feng's face flushed even redder.
It was the first time he had seen himself looking so cool, so handsome that it felt unfamiliar.
So awkward, so embarrassing.
He was scared of looking like he was trying too hard. Was this *too* much?
How could he be this cool?!
Was this still him?
"It's... it's okay."
Seeing his satisfaction, the salesperson immediately smiled and called her colleague to pack up this set of clothes. She then turned and brought out a bright red top paired with slim-fit black trousers, a style that was even more bold and flashy.
Cheng Feng slightly covered his face, too shy to look in the mirror.
The salesperson said with a smile, "Sir, you look great in this outfit. It makes your skin appear much fairer, and it gives you a particularly elegant air."
Cheng Feng smiled, but inwardly he was thinking, this entire set costs nearly two million!
Holy crap!!!
Why couldn't they just give him the money? He could buy his own clothes!
Afterward, the salesperson picked out eight more sets of clothes for Cheng Feng, each one incredibly sharp, trendy, and a perfect fit for his appearance.
Other salespeople gathered around, praising Cheng Feng for being very handsome.
Their compliments made Cheng Feng's cheeks flush even redder. He instinctively glanced at Shang Xu, only to see that he wasn't looking at him at all, merely looking down at his phone with an impassive expression.
After trying on ten sets of clothes, Cheng Feng was worn out.
Finally changing back into his own market-stall clothes, he looked at himself in the mirror again and felt a pang of heartache—the contrast was like night and day.
On one side was the glamorous young noble; on the other, the dusty, impoverished boy.
By comparison, his current attire was truly shabby.
It's good to have money. It's true that celebrities become even better-looking when they're rich.
Money really does make a difference!
Cheng Feng secretly vowed to himself that he would become wealthy in the future, so he could buy clothes like these without batting an eye.
Carrying ten exquisite shopping bags, Cheng Feng quickly walked over to the sofa and murmured, "Young Master, I'm done."
Shang Xu looked up at him, raising an eyebrow slightly. "Why aren't you wearing these clothes?"
Cheng Feng was taken aback, tightening his grip on the shopping bag handles.
In his mind, new clothes were reserved for special occasions like the New Year or going out for fun. He wouldn't dare wear them for just any old day.
"From now on, even if it's not for work, dress better."
Shang Xu's voice was flat, his gaze sweeping over Cheng Feng's slightly wrinkled clothes.
"Buy fewer market-stall clothes; they don't look good. Is your salary very low?"
Cheng Feng pressed his lips together and replied softly,
"It's not low. It's the same as theirs, over thirty thousand yuan."
"In the future, put more effort into your appearance. Don't wear clothes like the ones you're wearing now. If you don't have money to buy clothes, you can come directly to the shops around here and pick out suitable ones. Tell them I said so." After saying this, Shang Xu stood up and walked straight out.
Cheng Feng's eyes widened. Was he serious?
Free clothes?
Seeing him leave, Cheng Feng hurried to catch up, but couldn't help wondering inwardly: Was it because his previous shabby appearance had embarrassed Shang Xu, that he'd been brought here specifically to buy so many things?
As soon as they stepped out of the clothing store, Shang Xu ducked into the shoe store next door.
He instructed the salesperson offhandedly to pick out ten pairs of sneakers suitable for Cheng Feng.
Cheng Feng looked at the limited-edition shoes on the shelves, each costing hundreds of thousands, his head was spinning and his heart aching faintly.
Even though these were all Shang family businesses and didn't cost him any cash, the shoes were so expensive he didn't even dare touch them—he felt like he was stepping on gold.
Before long, his hands were filled with shopping bags.
He followed Shang Xu all the way, and soon, they entered an upscale barbershop.
"Get him a proper cut," Shang Xu said before settling into a sofa in the waiting area, closing his eyes to rest.
The stylist was a pro. With swift scissor work, Cheng Feng's originally messy hair became neat and stylish.
Cheng Feng gaped at his reflection in the mirror, his eyes filled with astonishment.
This looks amazing.
So damn handsome!!!
It showed off his best features perfectly.
It was a hundred times better than that hack job he used to get at the small street-side barbershop.
"Excuse me, sir," the stylist suddenly spoke up, pulling out his phone, "mind if I take a photo? The lines of this hairstyle are perfect. I'd like to use it for the shop's portfolio—I'll make sure your face isn't visible. Is that okay?"
Cheng Feng hesitated for a moment, then nodded:
"Sure."
He had no idea that this photo, showing only the back of his head, would later become the salon's smash-hit promotional image, attracting countless young men who came specifically to get the same hairstyle.
Cheng Feng walked over to the sofa and looked at Shang Xu, who was almost asleep, calling out softly:
"Boss, I'm done."
Shang Xu slowly opened his eyes, his gaze falling on him. It lingered for a barely noticeable moment, seemingly somewhat satisfied with the new look, but he said nothing. He simply stood up and remarked calmly:
"Let's go."
"Okay," Cheng Feng replied, carrying the large and small bags as he followed, feeling secretly pleased.
He had been thinking about finding time to get a haircut recently, but not only did he not spend any money, he also got such a great hairstyle. This trip really paid off.
Good thing he helped the young master carry things—otherwise, he wouldn't have received so many rewards.
