Chapter 12 A Lavish Breakfast
byChapter 12: The Luxurious Breakfast
Sister Caiyun had only mentioned that the young master liked everything neat and tidy.
He'd assumed his hair had to be meticulously groomed too.
Just as he was flustered, unsure how to make amends, Shang Shaohao didn't pursue the matter further. He turned and walked down the steps.
Cheng Feng stood there stunned for a second, then quickly put the comb away in his pocket and hurried after him.
Shang Shaohao walked straight to the seat at the head of the table and sat down, leaning lazily against the back of the chair, waiting quietly for breakfast to be served.
The chefs in the kitchen saw him arrive.
They immediately rushed out carrying steaming hot breakfast dishes.
There were three chefs.
For just one breakfast, on top of the dishes Shang Shaohao had specifically ordered in advance,
they'd laid out a full eleven extra dishes.
The combination of meat and vegetables was exquisitely arranged. The fresh seasonal vegetables were vibrant green and tender; the meats were richly colored and looked delicious. As for common breakfast items like steamed buns or mantou, there wasn't even a trace of them on the table.
Cheng Feng hadn't even seen many of the ingredients before.
Shang Shaohao picked up his knife and fork.
Seeing this, Cheng Feng immediately stepped forward and spread a clean napkin over his lap.
Shang Shaohao used his knife and fork to cut a piece of meat, put it in his mouth, and chewed it carefully a couple of times.
A moment later, he slammed the knife and fork down onto the plate, his face darkening:
"Too much salt. Who made this?"
The chefs instantly went pale, standing there trembling.
One slightly plump chef hurriedly stepped forward, his voice trembling:
"Young Master, it... it was me."
Shang Shaohao looked up and stared at him, his eyes ice-cold:
"Are you new here?"
The chef frantically nodded, his legs giving way as he knelt directly on the floor, his tone panicked:
"Yes, I just started today, I... I didn't mean to, please give me another chance, Young Master..."
"Get out. Don't come back."
Shang Shaohao's tone was completely flat.
The chef's face instantly drained of all color, his whole body shaking.
This job paid a monthly salary of fifty thousand yuan. He had fought tooth and nail to get it. How could he bear to be fired just like that?
He opened his mouth, wanting to plead further.
Two tall, hulking bodyguards had already stepped forward quickly, grabbing him by the arms on either side and dragging him straight out, not even giving him a chance to resist.
Cheng Feng froze, his pupils constricting slightly.
Just for a bit too much salt, and he was fired on the spot?
He instantly grew tense, his heart pounding wildly, a thin layer of sweat breaking out on his back.
He had just taken the liberty of combing the young master's hair. Would the young master hold it against him and later get angry and kick him out too?
However, Shang Shaohao finished his breakfast at a leisurely pace, and didn't glance at Cheng Feng once the entire time, nor did he mention a single word about the hair.
Shang Shaohao left the villa and got into the luxury car waiting at the entrance, heading off to school.
Cheng Feng stood at the villa entrance, watching the luxury car gradually drive away until it disappeared from sight, before finally letting out a long sigh of relief.
Sister Caiyun walked over with a smile, patted his shoulder, her eyes full of praise:
"Xiao Feng, you've got potential! To do so well on your very first day, not getting scolded even once, that's impressive. Keep up the good work!"
As she spoke, she pointed to the remaining food on the dining table and lowered her voice:
"All this on the table is high-end ingredients, five-star restaurant standard, very valuable. Usually, after the young master finishes eating, it all just gets tossed.
We might as well eat it, if we don't mind. It'd be a shame to waste it."
Cheng Feng was taken aback:
"We... can eat it?"
Sister Caiyun nodded:
"Of course we can. Butler Liu specifically told us to. Don't feel embarrassed. Throwing it away is wasteful too."
With that, Sister Caiyun led him to the dining table.
Shang Shaohao had only touched three of the breakfast dishes; the rest were almost completely untouched.
The plates were spotlessly clean.
There was absolutely no leftover residue.
Moreover, Shang Shaohao was extremely particular about eating. He used serving chopsticks for all the dishes, so there was no need to worry about hygiene at all.
Sister Caiyun handed him a clean pair of chopsticks:
"Hurry up and eat. Finish quickly, then after we clean up, you can go rest."
Cheng Feng nodded, took the chopsticks, picked up a piece of meat, and chewed it carefully.
A rich, savory flavor instantly exploded in his mouth.
The texture was tender and flavorful.
It was easily a hundred times better than the food he ate in the staff cafeteria!
He couldn't hold back any longer and started eating heartily. In contrast, Sister Caiyun didn't eat much, mostly just watching him with a smile.
The two of them finished all the food on the dining table without wasting a morsel.
Afterward, they began clearing the table and cleaning up.
While washing dishes, Cheng Feng let out a burp, feeling completely stuffed.
They worked for about two hours before the whole spacious villa was spotless from top to bottom.
Cheng Feng said goodbye to Caiyun and left Shang Shaohao's villa. He walked slowly along the road, planning to walk off his meal in the sun before returning to his dormitory for a nap.
Honestly, with a full stomach, he felt a bit drowsy.
From now until Shang Shaohao returned in the afternoon, he had plenty of time to rest. Once he was rested up, he could go out and deliver some food orders later.
