Chapter 83 Always Been a Tea Master
by 音符离了五线谱Chapter 83: A Tea Master Since Childhood
Lin Wei's hand had just touched the doorknob when she heard Shen Qingci scolding Lu Lin inside.
"If you don't want that hand, I'll chop it off and feed it to the dogs. Let's ask it if it even *wants* to stay on you."
Lin Wei paused.
Her movements halted, and the corner of her mouth twitched.
She glanced sideways at the doctor standing beside her holding a medical kit, pasting on an awkward yet polite smile. Lowering her voice, she said:
"Let's... go in a bit later."
The doctor looked bewildered. "Why?"
Lin Wei's expression was complicated as she whispered back, "If we go in now, we might get killed to keep us quiet."
The doctor fell silent.
The doctor silently took a step back.
The two of them stood at the door, listening to the intermittent sounds from inside: Lu Lin's plaintive "Brother, it hurts" and Shen Qingci's icy "Come here."
Lin Wei silently gave Lu Lin a thumbs-up in her heart.
This tea-making skill... she had to hand it to him.
Only when the office fell completely silent, with no further conversation, did Lin Wei take a deep breath and raise her hand to knock on the door.
"Come in."
A cold voice came from inside.
Lin Wei pushed the door open and walked in with the doctor.
In the office, Lu Lin sat pitifully on the sofa, his injured hand gently held by Shen Qingci. The unremoved bandage was stained with a mix of coffee and blood, looking utterly miserable.
Seeing the doctor arrive, Shen Qingci stood up and sat on another sofa. His strikingly handsome but cold face showed no expression, except for his gaze...
Lin Wei glanced out of the corner of her eye.
Shen Qingci's gaze remained fixed on Lu Lin's injured hand.
The doctor stepped forward, crouched in front of Lu Lin, and began carefully unwrapping the coffee-soaked bandages.
Lu Lin hissed in pain but gritted his teeth without making a sound. Only his reddened eyes occasionally stole glances toward Shen Qingci's direction.
Utterly pitiful.
Lin Wei stood to the side, pretending to watch the doctor treat the wound while secretly observing Shen Qingci's reaction.
Shen Qingci didn't speak.
Nor did he look away.
He simply watched quietly as the doctor peeled back layer after layer of gauze stained with coffee and blood, as Lu Lin's brows furrowed slightly from the pain, and as that battered hand—with old scars barely faded and fresh wounds already there—was revealed.
Lin Wei withdrew her gaze, silently sighing in her heart:
These two living ancestors are finally figuring it out.

Downstairs at Qingye Group.
A silver-gray sports car slowly drove away.
Feng Yuetian sat in the driver's seat, one hand on the steering wheel, the other arm propped on the window frame, occasionally glancing at Xi Yan in the passenger seat, whose expression was like thunder.
The car was eerily quiet.
Finally, Feng Yuetian couldn't help but speak:
"I told you, you can't outplay that green tea dog."
Xi Yan didn't respond.
Feng Yuetian continued rambling, "He was always using the 'suffer to gain sympathy' trick since he was a kid, remember? Back when I went to Qingci's place to hang out, I brought that brat a watch. He managed to spin it into us having ties with the Lu family, deliberately giving him a watch with a tracker to monitor him."
He was on a roll as he spoke, "I was trying so hard to explain it was just a normal watch! I swore it wasn't! And then? We opened it up, and there really was a tracker inside!"
To this day, he still couldn't figure out how that tracker got in there.
"You didn't see the look Qingci gave me back then," Feng Yuetian shuddered, hunching his shoulders slightly, "like he was looking at a dead man. I still haven't figured out how Lu Lin managed to stuff that tracker inside."
A soft scoff came from the back seat.
Feng Wuying withdrew her gaze from the window and spoke calmly:
"It had nothing to do with Lu Lin."
She paused, her tone as flat as if stating the simplest fact:
"It's mainly because that person is willing to indulge him."
With that one sentence, the car instantly fell silent.
Feng Yuetian opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but found he couldn't utter a word.
Right.
No matter how much of a tea master Lu Lin is, how well he acts, how scheming he is.
If Shen Qingci didn't allow it, none of it would work.
Feng Wuying's gaze returned to the window. Her beautiful face carried a faint trace of wistfulness, but more so, a sense of acceptance:
"I'm fine."
She spoke softly, as if talking to herself:
"I'm already well into my thirties, my child is this old. I'm not hung up on guys like Qingci in their twenties anymore."
She paused, glancing at Xi Yan in the passenger seat through the rearview mirror:
"But Xi Yan, are you still going to fight for him?"
Xi Yan's body stiffened almost imperceptibly.
Feng Wuying continued, her tone carrying the wisdom of someone who's been there and a touch of pity:
"I'm worried that if you keep pushing for this, you'll end up not even being friends."
She paused, then added, her tone flat, almost cruel:
"Besides, Qingci is into looks."
She watched Xi Yan's stiff back, twisting the knife slowly:
"You're almost forty. Just give it up."
Xi Yan spun around, glaring at the innocent face in the back seat, teeth clenched in fury:
"What's wrong with being forty?!"
Feng Wuying raised an eyebrow, totally unfazed by his anger, her tone still slow and deliberate:
"At forty, your stamina can't keep up with a twenty-year-old's."
Xi Yan was speechless.
Feng Yuetian quietly shrank back beside them, pretending he wasn't there.
Feng Wuying looked at Xi Yan's red face and, for once, dropped the teasing, turning a bit more serious:
"Besides, you two aren't right for each other."
Xi Yan froze for a moment.
Feng Wuying's gaze drifted past him, settling on the scenery rushing by outside the window, her voice light as a falling leaf:
"Back when we were rivals in love, I never said anything. Now it doesn't matter."
She paused, as if picking her words carefully:
"Qingci is too cold. The person he needs is someone who can always look at him, stand by him, and..."
She thought for a moment, finding the most fitting word:
"Barge into his life."
She looked at Xi Yan, her phoenix eyes holding a hint of seriousness and relief:
"You're not the one for him."
Xi Yan went quiet.
He stared out the window, silent for a long time.
Feng Yuetian cautiously glanced at his profile, opened his mouth, but in the end said nothing.
The car went quiet again.
Only the low hum of the engine and the wind whistling outside remained.
After a long time—so long that the car had driven far, leaving the city's noise behind—
Xi Yan let out a silent sigh.
