Chapter 104: Lu Lin Always Schemes Against You

The moment Feng Yuetian pushed open the door and left, a glint flashed through Lu Lin's eyes.

That glint was fleeting, vanishing as if it had never existed.

He took Shen Qingci's hand, lowered his head, and gently pressed a kiss onto the pale palm.

The gesture was reverent and tender, as if kissing a rare treasure.

After the kiss, he stood up, looked at Shen Qingci, and spoke in a gentle tone:

"Brother, I'll go see him out."

Shen Qingci nodded, his gaze shifting from Lu Lin's face back to the documents in his hand.

His cold, ethereal face showed no expression, clearly accustomed to Lu Lin's occasional clingy kisses.

Lu Lin watched his nonchalant demeanor, the corners of his lips curving up slightly, then turned and walked toward the office door.

    ---

As soon as Lu Lin stepped out of the office, he saw Feng Yuetian leaning by the window in the corridor, chatting animatedly with a young girl.

That bright pink suit was especially garish in the sunlight. He was tossing his purple bangs away from his forehead, flirting with the girl, saying something that made her blush and lower her head, too shy to meet his eyes.

    Lu Lin strolled over.

He stood behind Feng Yuetian and suddenly spoke, his voice low yet carrying a chill:

"It's clear that Young Master Feng is very fond of Qingye. Why not stay and find a job here?"

    Feng Yuetian froze mid-flirt.

He turned his head stiffly, meeting Lu Lin's eyes, which held a hint of a smile but no warmth, and the smile on his face instantly froze.

The young girl he had been chatting with, upon seeing Lu Lin, scurried away like a startled deer, fleeing as if her life depended on it.

Feng Yuetian watched the retreating figure, then looked back at the man who was known as a living grim reaper, forcing a smile that looked more like a grimace.

He raised his hand, waved at Lu Lin, and gave a dry greeting:

    "Hello, President Lu."

    Lu Lin didn’t respond.

He just stood there, quietly gazing at him.

Feng Yuetian felt his scalp tingle slightly under that stare, let out a few dry laughs, and turned to flee:

"I'll be going now, President Lu! Won't disturb you two lovebirds! See you!"

The moment he took a step, a hand fell on his shoulder.

Feng Yuetian looked up, meeting Lu Lin's smiling eyes.

That smile was dazzlingly bright, but there was no warmth in his eyes—only endless, bone-chilling cold.

"Young Master Feng," Lu Lin said with a smile, his tone icy enough to freeze someone, "it seems you're very familiar with my brother?"

He paused, his grip tightening slightly:

"Let's have a chat? Help me... teach my brother a few things?"

Feng Yuetian nodded, on the verge of tears.

Dejectedly, Lu Lin pressed a hand on his shoulder and led him step by step toward the elevator.

The elevator doors opened, and the two stepped inside.

    ---

At the end of the corridor, around the corner,

Xiao Chen stood clutching a stack of documents.

He watched the elevator doors slowly close, watching Lu Lin inside with his hand on Feng Yuetian's shoulder, with a chilling, intimidating smile. A shadow passed over his eyes.

He lowered his head, then raised it again, his gaze falling on the closed office door not far away.

He hesitated for a few seconds.

Taking a deep breath, he clutched the documents and walked over.

    "Knock, knock."

    "Enter."

From inside came that familiar voice, clear and cold as the clash of jade chimes.

Xiao Chen gently pushed open the door.

The office was very quiet, with only sunlight streaming in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting a warm patch of light on the floor.

Shen Qingci sat behind the large desk, head lowered, looking at the documents in his hand. His ink-black hair was loosely tied and draped over one shoulder, making his face appear even more cold and ethereal.

Xiao Chen looked at him, momentarily dazed.

He had never seen anyone like this—sitting there, doing nothing, yet the coldness and nobility that seemed to emanate from his very being made the entire office feel unattainable.

He was like a moon in the sky—distant and unattainable.

Not until Shen Qingci slowly lifted his head, and those clear, cool eyes fell on him

did Xiao Chen snap back to reality. A shiver ran down his spine, and he immediately lowered his head and began his report.

His work was always well done: logical, accurate, and concise.

After listening, Shen Qingci only pointed out a few details that needed improvement and said nothing more.

After finishing the report, Xiao Chen remained standing, looking at the cold, beautiful profile and the slightly lowered eyelashes. He swallowed hard.

After a moment, he spoke, his voice a little hoarse:

    "President Shen."

Shen Qingci didn't look up, only let out a faint "Mm."

Xiao Chen gritted his teeth and continued:

"I... happened to overhear that Lu Lin wants to scheme against you... together with Mr. Feng."

Shen Qingci's hand, which had been turning the pages, paused slightly.

He slowly looked up at Xiao Chen.

His clear, cold eyes held no emotion, gazing at him calmly, as still as a stagnant pond.

After a moment, he closed the file, and his cool voice said:

    “Is that so?”

His tone was flat, betraying no emotion.

Xiao Chen felt a jolt of panic under that gaze, but he steeled himself and nodded:

“I heard it with my own ears.”

“What are they plotting against me?”

“I... I didn’t hear the rest.” Xiao Chen’s voice trailed off. “They left, took the elevator down together.”

    Shen Qingci said nothing.

He tapped his fingers on the desk, once, twice. The action was gentle but carried an invisible pressure.

Seeing that Shen Qingci remained silent, Xiao Chen assumed he believed him and continued.

He started listing Lu Lin's many wrongdoings—

He called Lu Lin arrogant and overbearing, saying he constantly made things difficult for him, deliberately embarrassing him during collaborations...

    Shen Qingci listened without interruption.

His cold, expressionless face showed nothing, as if he were just hearing a trivial story.

Only when Xiao Chen finished did he pick up his coffee and take a sip.

The gesture was elegant and refined, carrying a natural composure.

Without looking at Xiao Chen, he spoke flatly, his voice as cold as a winter wind:

    “Chen Zhuo.”

    Xiao Chen stiffened slightly.

“When you worked with the Lu Group, even though you didn’t deal directly with Lu Lin,” Shen Qingci set down the coffee cup, his gaze fixed on the distant view outside the window, “Lu Lin knew you remarkably well.”

He paused, then turned his gaze back to Xiao Chen:

    “Do you know why?”

Xiao Chen pursed his lips, his voice edged with agitation:

“Of course I do. He doesn’t like me, he despises everyone around you, his possessiveness...”
