Chapter 108 The Secret of Resurrection (Part 1)
by 音符离了五线谱Chapter 108: The Secret of Resurrection (1)
Lu Lin's main residence.
The living room was eerily quiet.
Lu Lin sat in the dominant seat, legs crossed in a lazy, casual posture.
He toyed with a silver lighter, his slender fingers flicked it open—a flame leaped out, illuminating half of his handsome face.
Another flick, and the lid closed, extinguishing the flame.
The lighter flickered in his hand like a silent countdown.
Old Master Lu sat nearby, twirling a string of agarwood prayer beads, his face wearing a genial smile.
He looked at Lu Lin, his tone gentle, as if showing concern for a junior:
"Lu Lin, I hear you've been getting quite close to a young man named Shen Qing lately?"
"Click."
The sound of the lighter clicking shut was crisp and abrupt.
The flame was pinched out, and the room plunged back into dim light.
He sat up straight, his expression cold, a faint, subtle smile curling at the corner of his mouth.
His smile was blindingly bright, but his eyes held no warmth:
"Cut the crap. Spit it out. I don't have time to play games with you."
He paused, gazing coldly at Old Master Lu:
"Spare me the unnecessary words. I only want to know what you mentioned on the phone about my brother. What is it?"
Old Master Lu wasn't offended.
He let out a couple of chuckles, harsh and grating in the oppressive room.
He waved his hand, and the butler beside him immediately stepped forward, placing a sealed file folder on the coffee table in front of Lu Lin.
Old Master Lu gestured for Lu Lin to go ahead.
Lu Lin lowered his head, staring at the file folder.
After a moment, he lifted his eyes, cold and piercing, directly fixed on Old Master Lu.
Old Master Lu met that gaze, his smile unwavering.
He waved his hand again, and the butler signaled for all the servants to leave, leaving only Lu Lin and the people he had brought.
The living room fell completely silent.
Thunder rumbled faintly from outside the window.
Lu Lin's face grew dark, his sinister gaze as he watched Old Master Lu for a few seconds, then reached out and opened the file.
Just as he pulled the papers out, Old Master Lu's voice rang out unhurriedly, with a tone that was hard to describe.
"Who would've thought Shen Qingci could rise from the dead..."
He set down the teacup he had just sipped from and continued deliberately, his tone full of wonder:
"How miraculous—absolutely unprecedented."
Lu Lin's movements paused slightly.
The pause lasted just a moment, so brief it was almost negligible.
But Old Master Lu, watching his every move, caught it flawlessly.
A self-satisfied curl formed at the corner of Old Master Lu's mouth.
But before that smile could fully spread—
A flash of cold metal.
A dagger sank squarely into the tabletop in front of Old Master Lu.
The blade sank nearly halfway into the solid wood, the handle quivering outside, humming faintly.
Old Master Lu's smile froze instantly on his face.
He stared at the dagger so close before him, at the icy blade less than an inch from his hand, and he swallowed hard.
Cold sweat beaded on his back.
Outside the window, the sky was thick with dark clouds, layers of black masses pressing down low.
A bolt of lightning ripped across the sky, followed by a deafening crack of thunder that rolled across the sky.
Lu Lin stared intently at Old Master Lu, his face darker than the storm clouds outside.
The look in his eyes was terrifying, like a demon clawing its way out of hell, filled with murderous madness.
But then—just as quickly—that grim expression faded.
So quickly it seemed almost like an illusion.
Lu Lin stood up and walked over to Old Master Lu.
He bent down, grasped the dagger embedded in the table, and yanked it out with a swish.
Then, with a backhand motion, he drove it in again.
The dagger precisely hit the walking stick in Old Master Lu's hand.
The stick fell from his grasp, hitting the floor with a sharp smack.
Old Master Lu's face turned pale with fright; he shrank back, no longer the cool strategist he'd been moments ago.
Lu Lin watched him and suddenly laughed.
The laughter was soft, laced with undisguised mockery and glee.
He tilted his head, savoring Old Master Lu's wretched expression, his thin lips parting, he uttered two words flatly:
"Worthless."
Old Man Lu's face turned ashen, and he glared at Lu Lin, gritting his teeth.
Having held power for so long, he had not been defied like this in ages.
He suddenly slammed the table and stood up, bellowing in fury:
"Lu Lin!"
His voice was sharp and grating with rage.
Lu Lin leisurely toyed with the dagger in his hand, the blade reflecting a cold gleam in the dim light.
Without even lifting his head, he said in a light tone:
"Too loud."
He paused, then looked up at Old Man Lu, a chilling smile curling at the corner of his mouth:
"Scare me, and I might accidentally throw this dagger."
He gestured with the dagger in the air:
"Fly where? Maybe..."
He pointed at Old Man Lu's head:
"Here."
Then pointed at his heart:
"Or maybe here."
Then he slowly moved his finger down, stopping at Old Man Lu's lower body, before looking away with disinterest:
"Not here. Don't want to get my blade dirty."
Old Man Lu's veins bulged with rage, his whole body trembling, but he barely held back his fury.
He knew Lu Lin's madness—knew this lunatic was capable of anything.
He took a deep breath and forced a genial smile back onto his face:
"Take a look at the file's contents."
His voice was very flat, with a forced calmness:
"What's inside has a lot to do with Shen Qingci. I think you'll find it interesting."
Lu Lin glanced at the file on the table.
He sat back down, reached out, and took it.
Under Old Man Lu's watchful eye, he slowly pulled out the papers inside.
Then he put the papers back and handed the file to the bodyguard behind him.
Old Man Lu's smile instantly froze on his face.
Lu Lin propped his elbows on the table, leaning forward slightly, smiling as he stared at Old Man Lu.
His smile was blindingly bright, yet there was no warmth in his eyes:
"Forget that. Let's talk about earlier."
Lu Lin smiled, his eyes cold, and parted his lips, his tone sinister:
"The video about Big Brother online earlier—that was you, right?"
He paused and continued:
"You wanted to out Big Brother to the public?"
Old Man Lu didn't expect that question. His face darkened instantly, and he didn't answer.
Lu Lin didn't care. He continued as if talking to himself:
"I'm curious—what are you trying to do? I'm even more curious—what does Big Brother's return mean to you?"
Seeing that Old Man Lu wouldn't answer, he instantly dropped the smile.
His eyes became those of a demon crawling out of hell—vicious, terrifying, completely inhuman.
He spoke slowly, each word like a poisoned blade:
"To me, none of this really matters."
He stood up, looking down at Old Man Lu:
"Just remember this..."
His voice was low and icy, carrying a suffocating pressure:
"If anything happens to Big Brother,"
"You."
"The grandson you love."
"The mistress you keep on the side."
"Your illegitimate son."
"Including every single person in the Lu family, up and down..."
Lu Lin watched Old Man Lu's face turn pale at his words. He paused, then slowly curled his lips into a smile.
A smile so bright it sent chills down your spine.
Then he spoke again, like a death knell, enunciating each word:
"Ev-er-y-one goes to hell to-geth-er." As he finished, a thunderclap exploded outside, rattling the glass.
