Chapter 109 The Secret of Resurrection (Part 2)
by 音符离了五线谱Chapter 109 The Secret of Resurrection (II)
Old Master Lu stared at him, his eyes narrowing sharply.
This man... was crazy.
Completely crazy.
Before Old Master Lu could react, Lu Lin suddenly let out a laugh.
His smile instantly became gentle and devoted, as if the demon that had crawled out of hell moments before was just an illusion:
"No."
Lu Lin shook his head, his tone almost obsessively earnest:
"Brother belongs in heaven."
"I'll stay with you all in hell, killing you over and over."
He paused, his eyes full of morbid devotion and love:
"After all, my brother deserves the best."
With that, he glanced at Old Master Lu, curled his lips in a smile, then turned and strode away.
Behind him, the bodyguards followed quickly.
Outside the window, torrential rain suddenly poured down, the sound of rain drowning everything out.
Lightning tore across the sky again and again, thunder rolled in, deafening.
Lu Lin suddenly stopped at the door.
He took out his phone and checked the time.
A pleased smile curled the corner of his lips.
How wonderful.
He could still go pick up his brother from work—
He pushed the door open and stepped into the downpour.
In the living room, Old Master Lu watched his joyful departing figure, his face pale as paper.
After a long while.
So long that the rain gradually died down, so long that the thunder disappeared into the distance.
He finally spoke, his voice hoarse and strained:
"Madman..."
A complete and utter madman.
---
The rain came down in sheets.
Huge raindrops slammed against the car window, producing a steady, muffled drumming.
Rainwater trickled down the glass, blurring the world outside.
Lu Lin sat in the back seat, cheerfully toying with the dagger in his hand.
The blade gleamed coldly in the dim cabin, flipping nimbly between his fingers.
A smile lingered on his lips, his mind full of Old Master Lu's terrified, pale expression from earlier.
How amusing.
He picked up his phone, ready to send a message to Shen Qingci.
The screen lit up, and he saw a message from Zhou Jin sent an hour ago.
"Zhou Jin: Mr. Lu, I went to Qingye Group earlier to deliver documents. You weren't there, so CEO Shen handled them for you."
A few minutes later, another message.
"Zhou Jin: I felt like CEO Shen seemed a bit unhappy. He seemed to think you had returned to the company."
Lu Lin's movements froze.
He stared at those lines, blinking in surprise.
Brother... thought I'd gone back to the company?
Brother... was unhappy?
He stared at the screen, a smile slowly spreading across his face.
The smile grew wider and wider, until it became an uninhibited laugh.
Was his brother already upset that he'd left?
How great.
So wonderful.
At this rate, his brother would soon be completely in love with him.
Smiling, he opened the chat with Shen Qingci and typed:
"Brother, are you off work? I'm coming to pick you up now."
Sent.
He tapped the screen, his eyes sparkling as he watched the chat box, waiting for Shen Qingci's reply.
He couldn't help imagining the expression on his brother's face when he saw the message.
Just as he was happily lost in his thoughts, his phone vibrated.
Lu Lin immediately lit up the screen. When he saw it was a message from Old Master Lu,
the smile on his face vanished instantly, replaced by a cold, dark expression.
He didn't even look at it, swiping it away immediately.
As he swiped it away, another message appeared.
The message was accidentally tapped and opened.
Lu Lin frowned, about to delete the old bastard, when his gaze landed on the two lines of text on the screen.
His movements abruptly halted.
He stared at those two lines, his pupils contracting.
"Old Bastard of the Lu Family: You'd better take a close look at that document."
"Old Bastard of the Lu Family: After all, Shen Qingci's return comes at a price—he has at most two years to live."
The car was eerily quiet, with only the dull thud of rain pounding against the roof.
Lu Lin remained frozen in that position, motionless.
A long time passed.
So long that the rain blurred the windows, so long that the outside world dissolved into hazy patches of light.
He slowly put down his phone and picked up the document bag he had casually tossed onto the seat beside him.
His fingers stiffly unsealed the envelope and pulled out the papers inside.
He read quickly.
Amidst the dense text, every part explained why his brother had returned.
His gaze lingered for a moment on the name "Le Tong," then moved on.
He didn't care why his brother had come back.
He just wanted his brother to stay by his side.
That was enough.
Until his eyes reached the end of the last page.
Those words were very brief, so brief that they were only a few characters.
But they were like a knife, stabbing deep into his heart.
"Survival time: two years."
Lu Lin's eyes instantly became bloodshot.
His fingers tightened abruptly, and with the excessive force, he tore through the paper—a sharp "ripping" sound rang out in the quiet car.
He just stared at those words, at the phrase "two years," his gaze as if he were trying to pierce through the paper.
Outside, the rain fell harder and harder, and thunder rumbled.
He kept his head down, motionless.
After a long while,
Lu Lin's hoarse voice squeezed out from his throat, trembling and filled with boundless rage:
"Back to the Lu family's old mansion!"
The driver glanced at him through the rearview mirror. Lu Lin's face was so dark it seemed to drip ink, his eyes thick with bloodshot streaks, making him look like a demon crawling out of hell.
Cold sweat trickled down the driver's back. Without any hesitation, he immediately turned the car around.
---
Villa.
The rainstorm continued, showing no signs of stopping.
The black Maybach pulled up steadily at the villa entrance, where a bodyguard was already waiting with an umbrella.
The car door opened, and Shen Qingci got out, leaning on his cane. The bodyguard held the umbrella over his head, shielding him from the downpour.
He walked steadily into the villa, the hem of his coat was slightly damp.
Uncle Fu, who had been waiting in the hall, took his damp coat.
Subconsciously, he glanced behind Shen Qingci, but didn't see the familiar figure.
He paused for a moment, but he quickly recovered.
He put on a gentle smile and said respectfully:
"Sir, Mr. Lu hasn't returned yet. Would you like to have dinner first?"
Shen Qingci didn't answer.
He walked over to the sofa and sat down, taking out his phone and unlocking it.
On the screen was a message from Lu Lin, sent over ten minutes ago.
"Brother, are you off work? I'm coming to pick you up now."
He lowered his eyes, looked at the line of text, then put down his phone and said calmly:
"I'll wait."
Upon hearing this, Uncle Fu breathed a faint sigh of relief.
He acknowledged the instruction and quietly left.
Shen Qingci leaned back on the sofa, casually picked up a magazine beside him, and opened it.
His movements were still composed, his expression still cold and detached.
Time ticked by, minute by minute.
The sound of rain outside never stopped.
At nine o'clock,
Uncle Fu brought over a freshly brewed cup of coffee and gently placed it in front of Shen Qingci.
He looked at the aloof figure still sitting on the sofa, his eyes full of concern.
He spoke softly:
"Sir, please have dinner first."
Shen Qingci tapped his fingers on his cane, his face cold and expressionless.
He didn't look at Uncle Fu, just gave a faint "Mm."
Then, standing up using his cane, he walked over to the table and sat down.
Shen Qingci ate very slowly.
Uncle Fu stood nearby, watching him, his heart felt heavy.
He knew.
The master was unhappy.
After finishing the meal, Shen Qingci went straight upstairs with his cane.
His back remained as straight as a pine, his steps steady and composed, betraying nothing unusual.
But Uncle Fu stared at his back, his eyes full of worry.
