Chapter 98 A Man’s Dignity
by 音符离了五线谱Chapter 98: A Man's Dignity
Shen Qingci tapped his fingers lightly on the head of his cane, one tap after another, unhurried and steady.
Lu Lin walked over to Chen Zhiyuan's side, the back of the knife in his hand tapping gently against his face.
The force wasn't heavy, but it made Chen Zhiyuan shudder violently, struggling wildly as the rope cut into his flesh, leaving red marks.
Lu Lin looked down at him from above, his eyes filled with undisguised malice and brutality.
A grin curled at the corner of his mouth, but his tone was so cold it sent chills down your spine:
"How many times do you think this knife can stab you before you die?"
Chen Zhiyuan's eyes reddened with fear, his eyes bloodshot, his face full of terror.
He screamed, his voice sharp and piercing:
"Murder is against the law! I'm calling the police! I'll sue you all!"
Lu Lin's smile grew even brighter.
That smile was blindingly brilliant, yet there was no trace of humor in his eyes, only endless, suffocating coldness.
He twisted his wrist.
A dull thud rang out.
The knife plunged straight into the stool's surface between Chen Zhiyuan's legs, the tip burying itself deep in the wood, the whole blade quivering faintly.
Chen Zhiyuan went completely still.
The next second, a warm liquid flowed down his pants leg, spreading into a dark, wet stain on the ground.
The pungent stench of urine quickly filled the air.
Tears streamed down his face, mixed with snot, covering his face, making him a complete mess.
Watching this scene, Shen Qingci suddenly spoke, his voice clear and cold:
"Lu Lin."
Lu Lin paused in his action.
He turned his head to look at Shen Qingci.
Those eyes, which had just been full of malice and brutality, instantly became clear and innocent. He blinked, letting out an obedient, questioning "Hmm?"
As if he hadn't just scared someone with a knife and made them piss themselves.
Shen Qingci looked at his face that changed in an instant, silent for a moment.
He glanced again at the man who had pissed himself, and said calmly:
"Come back."
Lu Lin pulled the knife out of the stool and obediently stepped back.
But before stepping back, he didn't forget to give Chen Zhiyuan a kick.
Shen Qingci: "..."
Childish.
Zhou Jin silently looked away, pretending he hadn't seen anything.
Once Lu Lin reached his side, Shen Qingci turned his gaze to the man still trembling.
His eyes were cold, devoid of any emotion.
"Who sent you here?"
Chen Zhiyuan's body stiffened abruptly.
His eyes darted away, unable to meet Shen Qingci's gaze, and his voice faltered:
"I... I don't know what you're talking about."
Shen Qingci nodded.
He didn't push further.
He pushed himself up with his cane and rose slowly.
His movements were dignified and composed, as if their earlier conversation had been nothing but trivial small talk.
He looked at the bodyguard behind Chen Zhiyuan and said flatly:
"Allowing you to speak wasn't for the sake of hearing you curse me."
He paused, his gaze sweeping over Chen Zhiyuan's fear-twisted face:
"But you cursed, so that's that. After all..."
"It means nothing to me."
With that, he turned to leave.
When he reached the door, he paused for a moment.
He didn't look back, but his clear voice rang out once more, echoing through the empty classroom:
"But a man always has to pay for his words and actions."
"One word, one tooth."
"Pulling them all out—that's the greatest mercy I can show you."
As his words died away, he leaned on his cane and walked away.
Behind him, Chen Zhiyuan was stunned still before letting out a shriek like a stuck pig:
"No! You can't! That's illegal!!!"
Lu Lin smirked.
He bent down and casually tossed the knife to the bodyguard beside him.
Then, tilting his head, he looked at the man still struggling frantically, his smile dazzlingly bright.
His gaze slowly lowered, landing on Chen Zhiyuan’s crotch, his tone light and airy, yet chilling.
“You said your Brother doesn’t have a man’s dignity…”
He paused, smiling even more brightly.
“Then I’ll remove that so-called dignity of yours.”
Chen Zhiyuan’s pupils sharply contracted; he shook his head frantically, letting out desperate pleas.
“No… no! You can’t! Please…”
Lu Lin had already turned around. After taking two steps, he stopped and looked back, as if suddenly remembering something, a hint of mischievous pleasure in his smile.
“By the way, let me tell you—”
He grinned, his tone light.
“The kid your wife is carrying is not yours.”
He laughed even more brightly.
“Have fun, real man~”
With that, he smirked and left in a good mood.
Zhou Jin adjusted his glasses and silently followed behind Lu Lin.
Behind them came Chen Zhiyuan’s heart-rending screams and the bodyguards’ footsteps gradually approaching.
“I’ll talk! I’ll talk! I’ll talk!”
His voice was shrill and desperate, filled with fear.
“Someone found me! They gave me some money and told me to mess with you!! Please let me go! I can tell you everything I know! Please! Aaaah!!!”
Lu Lin jogged to catch up with Shen Qingci and walked alongside him.
He tilted his head slightly, leaned in a little closer, and whispered,
“Brother ~”
That voice was syrupy and soft, as if he were a completely different person from the dark, vicious man just moments ago.
Shen Qingci glanced at him.
That glance was indifferent, devoid of any emotion.
He gave a soft “Mm.”
That counted as a response.
Shen Qingci came out of the teaching building and saw Lin Wei standing by the car from afar, holding Xiao Ya’s hand.
He nodded slightly in greeting, then, using his cane, walked steadily towards the black Maybach.
Lu Lin followed behind him, closely.
The car door opened; Shen Qingci got into the back seat, and Lu Lin also slipped in behind him.
The door closed, shutting out the outside world.
Lin Wei held Xiao Ya’s hand and stood there, watching the black Maybach slowly drive away, disappearing down the road.
Xiao Ya looked up at Lin Wei.
She spoke softly, in a clear voice.
“Mom, when I grow up, I want to tag along with Immortal Brother too.”
She thought for a moment and added,
“Work for Brother!”
Lin Wei looked at her daughter’s serious little face and gently ruffled her hair.
There was a hint of helplessness in her eyes.
She hummed softly in agreement, her tone gentle.
“Then you need to study hard.”
She paused, a slight smile tugging at her lips.
“Your Immortal Brother doesn’t need little dunces.”
Xiao Ya nodded vigorously, her eyes shining.
“OK!”
Just then, the bell rang, signaling the end of class.
The crisp bell echoed through the campus, breaking the afternoon calm.
Groups of students poured out of the teaching building, their laughter and chatter instantly filled the entire campus.
A little girl ran over to Xiao Ya, panting and grabbed her hand.
“Xiao Ya! Are you okay? I heard your dad showed up—I was so scared!”
Xiao Ya shook her head, a smile spreading across her face.
“I’m fine.”
More children gathered around, chattering and asking questions.
Xiao Ya was soon surrounded by her friends and melted into the joyful noise.
Lin Wei stood there, watching her daughter’s back.
Watching her surrounded by sunlight, watching her run hand-in-hand with friends towards the playground, watching the smile blooming again on her face.
Lin Wei’s eyes grew a little teary, and she couldn’t help smiling.
