    Chapter 143: I'm Going Too

When Shen Qingci came out of the bathroom, he had already changed into a robe and was holding a towel, leisurely drying his fingers.

By the time he finished his bath, Lu Lin had already tidied the room.

A light scent of fresh laundry lingered in the air, completely clearing away the intimate atmosphere from before.

Lu Lin had also freshened up, wearing dark blue silk pajamas. He was leaning against the desk, holding his phone, looking focused.

When he saw Shen Qingci approach, he looked up, his eyes brightening.

Shen Qingci walked over to him and held out his clean hand to him.

He meant for Lu Lin to take a sniff, to make sure no smell remained on his hand.

But before he could say a word, Lu Lin grasped Shen Qingci's wrist, leaned down and kissed his fingertips.

The kiss was very light, full of reverence and adoration.

    Shen Qingci froze.

Before he could react, Lu Lin bent over and scooped him up with one arm.

Shen Qingci sat perched in the crook of his arm, one hand steadying himself on Lu Lin's shoulder.

He looked at Lu Lin's smug, satisfied face and could only think one thing:

*He's a grown man, why does he still act like a kid? All that bull strength.*

Lu Lin laid him gently on the bed, then slid in himself, pulling the blanket over them both.

He reached for his phone and cast his phone screen to the monitor.

The screen immediately filled the display.

Shen Qingci leaned against his chest, his eyes fixed on the projected image.

"Wang Chengshun said that old thief Lu has a secret room in his study," Lu Lin's voice came from above, tinged with seriousness. "There should be something about brother in there."

He tapped the screen, and the video continued playing.

On the screen, Old Master Lu hurried in, followed by a group of people.

His face was barely suppressing his anger, and he slammed his cane heavily on the ground.

    "Search!"

At his command, the people immediately dispersed and began a thorough search of the study.

Shelves, desks, walls, and floor—every corner was inspected without exception.

Some were scanning with instruments, with various data jumping across the screens.

Others were on their hands and knees, checking the gaps in the floorboards with flashlights.

A few stood on ladders, examining every screw of the chandeliers up high.

Shen Qingci watched silently, his eyes calm.

Lu Lin's arm was wrapped around his waist, his chin lightly resting on top of Shen Qingci's head, his gaze also fixed on the projected image.

    After a long while.

    The group finally stopped.

The leader walked up to Old Master Lu and shook his head.

"Master, no monitoring devices were found."

    Old Master Lu nodded.

But he still didn't let his guard down.

He waved his hand, and the man immediately handed him a small device.

Old Master Lu pressed the switch.

"How could a product I developed be disrupted by a signal jammer?"

Lu Lin's voice came from above, tinged with disdain and barely hidden pride.

His fingers idly wound around Shen Qingci's hair, winding it around and around, as if toying with some intriguing plaything.

Shen Qingci's gaze shifted away from the hand playing with his hair and back to the screen.

    The video continued.

Old Master Lu dismissed the group, leaving himself alone in the study.

Leaning on his cane, he slowly walked to the bookshelf, raised a hand and pulled a book from the shelf.

Then he turned and walked to a wall sconce.

He gripped the lampshade and gently turned it half a turn.

    *Click.*

    A very soft sound.

Then he went to another wall.

He raised his hand and pressed on an ordinary-looking brick.

The next moment, the bookshelf began to slowly rotate, revealing a dark, yawning entrance.

Old Master Lu, leaning on his cane, walked inside.

The moment his figure disappeared into the darkness, the bookcase slowly rotated back.

    Closing.

The frame froze on the perfectly intact wall.

    Shen Qingci's eyes shifted slightly.

The room was quiet for a few seconds.

Then Lu Lin's voice suddenly rang out, with a note of pride: "How about that, brother? Not bad, huh?"

Shen Qingci hummed in response, then said coolly:

    "Write it down."

    Lu Lin was stunned: "What?"

Shen Qingci turned his head to look at him, a hint of resignation in his clear, cold eyes:

"The location of that book, that lamp, and that brick."

    He paused.

    "Did you memorize them all?"

"Of course, have you forgotten my photographic memory, brother?"

Shen Qingci looked at his face, which seemed to say "Aren't I amazing?" and at those sparkling eyes.

He reached out and gently ruffled Lu Lin's hair.

    "Mm."

His voice was light, yet carried a hint of indulgence that even he himself hadn't noticed.

Lu Lin narrowed his eyes, nuzzling against his palm.

"Tomorrow night, let's go take a look."

    Shen Qingci said coolly.

Lu Lin, who had been playing with his hair with his head down, nodded at that.

He was already planning to make a trip to that old bastard Lu's study tomorrow night anyway.

"I'll go myself tomorrow night," he said, pausing, a bit reluctant, "I might be back pretty late, brother, so I can't keep you company."

Shen Qingci glanced at him, then slipped out of his arms and lay down on the bed.

He closed his eyes, his lashes casting a tiny shadow under his eyes, his voice still cold:

    "I'm going too."

    Lu Lin froze.

He looked at Shen Qingci's calm profile, not sure how to respond for a moment.

This kind of sneaky business… somehow didn't seem fitting for someone like brother.

    And brother's legs…

He opened his mouth, about to refuse, when he met Shen Qingci's clear, cold eyes.

Those eyes were emotionless, quietly fixed on him, but Lu Lin could read a silent warning in them.

Lu Lin's words died in his throat. He looked at Shen Qingci, his Adam's apple moving up and down.

Then he ducked his head and placed a light kiss on the corner of Shen Qingci's lips.

The kiss was very gentle, a careful, placating gesture.

He straightened up, meeting those cold, placid eyes, his voice husky and low:

    "Okay, brother."

Shen Qingci glanced at him, then closed his eyes again.

Lu Lin lay down too, then stretched out an arm and pulled him into his embrace.

    The room fell silent.

Only the soft mingling of their steady breathing in the darkness.
