Chapter 135 Where Was He Sent?
by 音符离了五线谱Chapter 135: Where Did the Schedule Go?
The black Maybach pulled to a smooth stop in front of the Qingye Group building.
The car door opened, and Shen Qingci stepped out, leaning on his cane.
Lin Wei was already waiting at the entrance with the new secretary.
Seeing Shen Qingci approaching, she immediately fell into step, beginning to report the day's work schedule in a brisk, professional tone.
"Mr. Shen, there's a departmental meeting at eleven to discuss the Q3 summary; at two in the afternoon, a presentation on the R&D department's AI intelligent project; and at three, a video conference with Haifeng Group..."
The new secretary was a young woman, seemingly just over twenty.
Clutching her notebook, she followed behind Lin Wei, jotting down notes rapidly while occasionally stealing glances at the slender, upright figure ahead.
They entered the elevator.
The doors closed, and the floor numbers ticked up one by one.
Lin Wei continued her briefing, her voice steady and clear.
Shen Qingci stood in the center of the elevator, leaning on his cane, listening quietly, nodding occasionally in response.
"Ding—"
They reached the top floor.
The elevator doors opened, and Shen Qingci stepped out with his cane, heading straight for his office.
Lin Wei followed behind, continuing to report the last few items of work.
Entering the office, Shen Qingci slowly sat down behind his desk.
He propped his cane against the edge of the desk, looked up at Lin Wei.
Lin Wei closed the folder in her hands, ready to make her final summary.
She looked up at Shen Qingci.
Her gaze suddenly froze.
On Shen Qingci's neck, suggestive red marks were clearly visible.
Those marks extended from behind his ear all the way into the depths of his collar, some faint, some dark, suggestive and conspicuous.
Lin Wei's mind went blank for a moment.
She quickly averted her gaze, struggling to keep her expression calm.
But inwardly, she was already internally screaming.
Maybe she should just moonlight as Mr. Shen's secretary.
This shock was more than any ordinary person could bear.
Shen Qingci didn't seem to notice her discomfort. After listening to Lin Wei's report, he nodded and said in a cool voice:
"Okay. Move the 11:30 R&D project meeting up; schedule it for half an hour from now."
Lin Wei took a deep breath, returning to her professional state, and nodded in agreement.
"Understood, Mr. Shen."
With that, she led the new secretary out of the office.
---
In the conference room, people sat on both sides of the long table.
Shen Qingci sat at the head of the table, hands clasped, quietly listening as the staff below reported on their work.
Sunlight streamed in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, falling on him and casting a soft halo around his form.
The person reporting was speaking incessantly in front of the projection screen.
Shen Qingci's gaze was fixed on the screen, his expression focused.
But he could feel the gazes landing on him.
One, two, three...
Some eyes slid from his face to his neck, paused for a moment, then quickly darted away.
Someone exchanged glances with the person next to them.
Someone bent over a notebook, scribbling, then lifted their head to sneak a peek.
Shen Qingci turned his head slightly, looking at Lin Wei sitting to one side.
His clear, cold eyes held a silent question: What's wrong?
Lin Wei met his gaze and pursed her lips.
She pulled a small hand mirror from her bag and, under cover of the table, gently slid it to Shen Qingci.
Shen Qingci reached down to take it, then lifted the mirror to look.
In the mirror, the love bites on his neck were clearly visible.
He looked for two seconds.
Then he raised his head, his expression unchanged, and said in a clear, cool voice:
"Lu Lin kissed them. So what?"
In the conference room, you could have heard a pin drop.
The person reporting stood frozen in front of the screen, mouth agape, with a complicated expression, looking quite comical.
Those who had been sneaking glances all suddenly froze.
Some bowed their heads, some pretended to look at documents, some stared at the ceiling as if it held something extraordinary.
The silence lasted three seconds.
Lin Wei said calmly, "Continue."
Then the reporter cleared his throat and resumed the presentation.
The others quickly averted their eyes, as if nothing had happened.
Shen Qingci's cold gaze returned to the projection screen, thinking: Don't they have partners? So easily startled.
---
The meeting ended, and the crowd gradually dispersed.
Shen Qingci walked at the back with his cane, with Lin Wei at his side.
He suddenly stopped, turned his head, and looked at Lin Wei.
A hint of inquiry flickered in those cold eyes:
"Should I cover this?"
Lin Wei was taken aback.
She looked at Shen Qingci: his handsome, cold face, his unreadable expression, the glaring mark on his neck.
She nodded instinctively, then shook her head firmly.
"No need!"
Her voice was firm and earnest, with an inexplicable sense of mission:
"CEO Shen, this is proof of love!"
Shen Qingci looked at her.
He looked at her face, full of earnestness, then nodded, and continued walking on his cane.
Lin Wei stood still, watching his retreating figure.
She watched the slender figure walk away and disappear around the corner.
Lin Wei let out a deep sigh of relief.
If she had told CEO Shen to cover it, knowing his efficiency, he would have it completely hidden within ten minutes of returning to the office.
That would have been fine, but she was afraid Lu Lin would see Shen Qingci deliberately covering the mark he left, he would throw a fit.
And if he then learned from CEO Shen that she was the one who suggested it...
Then she...
Would be in deep trouble.
---
Shen Qingci finished processing the last document and capped his pen.
He looked up at the clock on the wall.
3:17 p.m.
Usually at this time, Lu Lin would already be at the office door with flowers.
But today, he still hadn't shown.
Shen Qingci leaned back in his chair, tapping his fingers on the desk, one slow tap at a time.
He recalled what Feng Yuetian had said a couple of days ago.
About taking couple photos, and he knew a really good photographer.
When he refused, Lu Lin kept acting cute, insisting that they go, and said he would personally arrange it.
So where did those arrangements go?
The CEO of Lu Group is way too slow.
He lowered his eyes, letting his cold gaze fall on his phone on the desk. He picked it up, unlocked it, and opened the chat with Lu Lin.
Just as he was about to type...
The office door was pushed open.
The new secretary hurried in, holding a document.
She looked anxious and spoke quickly:
"CEO Shen! There's a problem at the overseas branch. It's pretty urgent, and you may need to go there personally."
Shen Qingci looked up at her.
There was no emotion in his cold eyes; he just looked at her quietly.
The secretary felt a bit intimidated under his stare, but still braced herself and handed the document to him.
Shen Qingci reached out and took it. He opened it.
He had only read two lines.
"Bang!"
The door was pushed open again.
Lin Wei strode in, with a rare look of anger on her face.
Her gaze fell on the new secretary, and her eyes were practically blazing.
"What are you doing?!"
Her voice was low, but with undisguised authority and reproach.
The new secretary stepped back, frightened, her face turning pale.
Lin Wei didn't spare her another glance.
She stepped forward, took the document directly from Shen Qingci's hand, then pulled out another document from her own folder and placed it gently on his desk.
Her tone returned to its usual calm, and she reported in a businesslike manner:
"CEO Shen, this is the last document you need to handle today."
Shen Qingci looked at her.
He looked at her face, flushed with anger, and her eyes, barely holding back emotion.
He said nothing, just nodded and began to handle the document.
Lin Wei pulled her hand back and turned to look at the new secretary.
Her expression immediately went cold:
"Come out with me."
The new secretary's face turned white. She lowered her head and followed Lin Wei out.
