Chapter 123: Lu Lin... Not Good Enough?

    He opened the door.

Feng Yuetian was leaning against the wall in the corridor, idly scrolling through his phone.

When he heard the door open, he looked up and met Lu Lin’s murderous glare.

He let out a couple of nervous chuckles, plastering a sycophantic smile on his face.

That smile was so bright, it made you want to punch him in the face.

Lu Lin shot him a cold look, then stepped aside to let him pass.

Feng Yuetian quickly scurried into the office.

As soon as he entered, he saw Shen Qingci sitting behind the desk.

His cold eyes were lowered, flipping through a finance book.

His lips were red and slightly swollen, clearly a sign of the recent intense action.

Feng Yuetian felt more excited than if he had been kissed himself, his eyes immediately lighting up.

He opened his mouth, wanting to gossip about Shen Qingci’s experience.

Then he felt a cold stare from behind, like two blades stabbing into his back.

Feng Yuetian shuddered and forcibly swallowed the words that were on the tip of his tongue.

He coughed, sat down on the sofa, and tried to look nonchalant as he said:

“Actually, it’s nothing serious. I just wanted to vent about some relationship issues.”

Shen Qingci turned a page without looking up, and calmly said one word:

    “Talk.”

Lu Lin walked over to the coffee machine and started brewing.

His movements were quiet, but his gaze kept sweeping over Feng Yuetian on the sofa, as if monitoring a dangerous criminal.

Feng Yuetian didn’t care about Lu Lin’s glare at all, because he knew that as long as Shen Qingci was around, even if Lu Lin was pissed at him, he wouldn’t actually do anything.

He leaned back on the sofa and started complaining on his own:

“Didn’t I tell you before? That asshole of a boss is chasing after me?”

He sighed, his expression extremely complicated:

“Well, yesterday I got drunk, and I accidentally... ended up sleeping with him.”

Shen Qingci’s hand paused as he was flipping the page.

He slightly raised his eyes, said nothing, then quickly looked down again, as if not very interested in what Feng Yuetian was saying.

Feng Yuetian didn’t mind and continued venting, his tone full of frustration:

“Now he’s chasing me, telling me to take responsibility. What should I do?”

    Shen Qingci said coldly:

    “Then take responsibility.”

Feng Yuetian instantly bristled and jumped up from the sofa:

“No way! My ass still hurts! Why should I take responsibility? Shouldn’t he be the one?”

Shen Qingci turned another page, his tone indifferent, and said dismissively:

    “Then let him take responsibility.”

Feng Yuetian was taken aback, then speechlessly complained:

“A Ci, you know you sound like a bot...”

Shen Qingci looked up and glanced at him.

That glance was plain, without any emotion, yet it inexplicably sent a chill down Feng Yuetian’s spine.

He silently looked away and leaned back on the sofa.

The office was silent for a few seconds.

Feng Yuetian’s gaze fell on Lu Lin’s back as he made coffee, then he looked at Shen Qingci and suddenly blurted out:

“By the way, A Ci, when you two did it... was it good?”

    Clatter.

Coffee beans scattered all over the floor.

Lu Lin froze in place, as if someone had pressed pause.

That idiot Feng Yuetian—how is he still the same as before, even over thirty, speaking without thinking?

Is it appropriate for him to ask that?

But in fact, only Lu Lin thought it was inappropriate.

Shen Qingci looked up, his cold eyes sweeping over the frozen back.

Then he looked away, turned a page, and replied in a calm, businesslike tone:

    “It was okay.”

    Lu Lin: “...”

    His mind went blank.

How come he remembered that he and his brother didn’t go all the way?

    How could it be... “okay”?

And why just “okay”? Why not “amazing”?

Neither of them noticed Lu Lin’s mental turmoil.

Upon hearing Shen Qingci’s reply, Feng Yuetian nodded, looking as if he completely understood.

"That feels about the same to me. My ass hurt like hell the first time, but once I got used to it, it was pretty awesome. That bastard was also a first-timer, though—damn not gentle at all. I've been lying around at home until now, that's why I'm just now coming to see you."

Shen Qingci paused in flipping the page.

He looked up at Feng Yuetian, his brow slightly furrowed, and asked with confusion:

    "Your ass hurts?"

He thought back to the crappy website he had accidentally stumbled upon that day, recalling those obscene acts.

His brow furrowed deeper, a trace of disgust on his face. He spoke flatly:

    "I don't like that."

    Feng Yuetian froze.

He stared at Shen Qingci, then at the rigid back of Lu Lin, who was picking up the coffee beans, and his mind raced.

    Then it hit him.

He trotted over to Shen Qingci, acting like a bestie, and whispered:

"Lu Lin... he doesn't look like someone who'd be bad in bed."

After saying that, his gaze landed on the clearly visible hickeys on Shen Qingci's neck, and he fell silent again.

With all that intensity, Shen Qingci still didn't get off?

    It seemed...

Lu Lin really is no good in bed.

In that case, Xi Yan still had a chance.

Lu Lin crouched on the ground, picking up coffee beans one by one.

His face was as black as a skillet.

What the hell was this? He was starting to think his brother and that idiot Feng Yuetian weren't even on the same page.

And what about him being "not good"? How come he didn't know he was supposed to be bad?

Feng Yuetian kept chatting idly with Shen Qingci.

More precisely, he did all the talking while Shen Qingci ignored him.

    ---

He talked about how his asshole boss had been getting worse, blocking his doorstep every day.

He said his new project at the research institute had hit a bottleneck and was driving him crazy.

He mentioned how he was developing a new type of antidepressant, and the results were pretty promising...

Shen Qingci flipped through his book, occasionally responding with a small 'mm'.

Feng Yuetian didn't care; he just kept talking enthusiastically.

Suddenly, he felt a death glare coming from diagonally behind him.

The gaze was so cold it sent a chill down his spine.

He turned stiffly and met Lu Lin's pitch-black, abyss-like eyes.

Lu Lin stood at the coffee machine, holding a freshly brewed cup.

He stared at Feng Yuetian, undisguised murder in his eyes.

Feng Yuetian swallowed hard, inched closer to Shen Qingci, and got a look of disgust from him.

Lu Lin's face immediately shifted from a dark, venomous expression to a smile as he spoke to Shen Qingci, his tone tender and indulgent:

"Brother, I need to talk to Feng Yuetian in private. Can I take him out for a bit?"

Shen Qingci didn't look up, just let out a faint 'mm'.

Feng Yuetian swallowed again, facing Lu Lin, whose face had instantly turned dark again. He wanted to tell Shen Qingci he didn't want to go, but then he saw Lu Lin mouth two silent words: 'Come here.'
