Chapter 1: Opening Eyes to a Scene of Chaos

Fu Yining was awakened by a cacophony of male and female voices.

When she opened her eyes, she saw three people standing in front of her: two women and one man.

Among them, the man was holding a long-haired woman in a white dress in his arms, while the other woman, with slightly curly hair, dressed in pink, was half-kneeling on the ground, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears, looking pitifully helpless.

The man, holding the pure, white lotus-like woman in his arms, pointed at the gorgeous pink-clad woman on the ground and shouted angrily, "You actually pushed An Ran down the stairs! A woman as vicious as you does not deserve to be a daughter-in-law of our Yu family!"

The pink-clad woman cried out in explanation, "Ming Ze, I didn’t! I didn’t push her!"

"You didn’t? I saw it clearly from where I was standing, how dare you deny it?"

The man was very angry and took a deep breath, "An Ran just returned to the country, and you said you would get along with her. Now it seems you were just lying to me! Tell me the truth, have you been plotting to harm An Ran all along?"

    "I didn’t!"

    "Song Qingyu, don’t lie!"

The white-dressed woman pulled the angry man and gently advised him, "Ming Ze, forget it. I trust that Qingyu didn’t do this intentionally. See, I’m fine, so don’t worry about it."

"An Ran, you are too kind!" The man held her soft hand and said, "If I hadn’t caught you in time, Song Qingyu’s vicious scheme would have succeeded!"

"Ming Ze, why don’t you believe me? I really didn’t push her!"

The pink-clad woman couldn’t believe what was happening before her eyes. Her husband was actually so intimate with another woman?

"Song Qingyu, don’t call my name! A woman as vicious as you has no place in our Yu family!"

    "Ming Ze—"

Song Qingyu, Ming Ze, An Ran, Yu family… Fu Yining found the names increasingly familiar.

How coincidental! They were exactly the same names as the characters in the novel she had read before going to bed last night.

Speaking of that novel, Fu Yining had shed many tears for it, though not because of the heart-wrenching love between the main characters. Most of the time, she was frustrated by the absurd plot.

The entire novel was clichéd and melodramatic, a typical story of a wealthy CEO chasing his wife after a dramatic breakup.

The story began with Yu Mingze being forced to marry the pitiful Song Qingyu, and the fiery fallout followed. Their arranged marriage did not lead to love because Yu Mingze had always had a white moonlight first love. He had eyes for no one else, but unfortunately, his first love broke up with him and went abroad to study.

During this time, Yu Mingze remained faithful to his former love, and even after marrying Song Qingyu, they slept in separate rooms, maintaining a pure and innocent image.

Well, except for one drunken encounter, which resulted in Song Qingyu unexpectedly getting pregnant with a little baby.

The later plot involved the former love interest returning to the country, and due to her deliberate manipulation, misunderstandings arose between the male and female leads, causing a rift between them. The female lead suffered a miscarriage and fell into despair, while the male lead finally realized his feelings for her, beginning the "she flees, he pursues" scenario.

The ending, of course, was perfect. The true vicious nature of the white moonlight was exposed, and she had to flee abroad in disgrace; the male and female leads reconciled, and even had two fair and chubby children.

Everything seemed so beautiful, except for the male lead’s final words in the novel, "If only our first child were still here."

    If only…

    .

Damn, do you really not know who prevented the child from being born?

Worse yet, the female lead is actually nestled in the male lead's arms, comforting him by saying that having two children isn't so bad, and they should just let the past go.

    It's fine?!!

The female lead actually said it's fine? Wasn't it she who suffered heartbreak, betrayal, and miscarriage, both emotionally and physically?

The characters hugged each other happily, while Fu Yining, the reader, was so furious that she couldn't sleep that night. Even after writing a lengthy negative review, her anger did not subside.

To her surprise, the night-owl author quickly responded to Fu Yining's comment—

    “:)”

A simple smiley face inflicted significant damage on Fu Yining's fragile heart.

Just as she was about to put her phone down and go to sleep, Fu Yining sat up and started arguing with the author about the bizarre dialogue between the male and female leads at the end of the novel. By 3 AM, a crowd of onlookers had gathered to watch the argument unfold.

The author insisted that there was nothing wrong with how the male and female leads were portrayed; they were destined to be together, and everything else was just part of the plot. Fu Yining, however, believed that the female lead should have dumped the male lead, letting the idiot male lead spend the rest of his life with his ideal woman.

The two argued endlessly, and amidst the numerous positive reviews, their comments filled with all sorts of curses stood out sharply. Finally, the author wrote, "If you think you can do better, then go ahead." Fu Yining felt a wave of dizziness from anger, as if she had fainted.

When she opened her eyes, she found herself face-to-face with the characters she had been criticizing.

    Sigh—

The three people in front of her were locked in a standoff, repeating lines from the book. If her guess was right, the current scene should be where the ideal woman had just returned from abroad, and the misunderstanding between the male and female leads was being fueled by the female supporting character.

As the drama unfolded before her eyes like a TV show, Fu Yining fell silent.

    So, who exactly was she?

Was she a nanny for the Yu family, responsible for their meals and daily needs, and a witness to key scenes? Or perhaps she was a diligent maid, quietly cleaning windows and floors while secretly enjoying the drama?

Just as Fu Yining was wondering who she might be, the male lead Yu Mingze, noticing her silence, looked at her with confusion.

"Mom, what should we do about this situation?"

    Mom?

Fu Yining instinctively looked around, only to find no one else nearby. The servants in blue and white uniforms stood far away, seemingly afraid of getting caught in the conflict.

Fu Yining frowned and quickly glanced down at her own attire, such as the custom-made expensive dress, the huge gemstone ring on her finger, and the transparent jade bracelet on her wrist...

"Mom, are you alright?" Yu Mingze finally noticed Fu Yining's odd behavior and asked again worriedly.

The female lead, Zheng Anran, standing next to him, also stepped forward to show concern. "Aunt Fu, are you okay? It's all my fault. If I hadn't shown up suddenly today, this wouldn't have happened."

    Fu Yining remained silent.

    "I... I should leave then."

Zheng Anran wiped the tears forming at the corners of her eyes and made a gesture to leave.

"An Ran, it's not your fault!" Yu Mingze, upon hearing this, pulled his white moonlight into his arms to comfort her and then turned to look at Song Qingyu. "If anyone should leave, it's her, Song Qingyu!"

Yu Mingze's actions left Song Qingyu in tears.

With tear-filled eyes, she looked at the furious Yu Mingze, then turned to the expressionless Fu Yining, shaking her head to explain.

"Mom, Mingze, please believe me, it wasn't me! I didn't push her!"
