Chapter 63: Eyes Gone Bad
by 墨墨不知道Chapter 63: Eyes Gone Bad
"Qingyu, are we three?"
"Should we get in?"
"Hmm?"
"Why not take the free ride? It’ll save us some money." Saying this, Song Qingyu opened the car door.
Seeing this, Wu Yuan and Chen Yujia sat in the back seat. After all, it wasn’t appropriate for them to sit in the front passenger seat.
Before getting in the car, Chen Yujia held Nuomi and asked, "Um, handsome guy, I brought a dog with me. You don’t mind, right?"
"No, it’s fine."
"Good."
After getting in the car, Chen Yujia kept Nuomi on her lap to prevent him from running around inside.
Fortunately, the little creature was used to car rides, so once the car started moving, it didn’t show any signs of discomfort.
Wu Yuan glanced at Song Qingyu in the front seat, silently admiring her strength.
Chen Yujia hadn’t seen the issues between them firsthand. She only knew that Song Qingyu had mentioned she wasn’t on good terms with her husband, but now it seemed fine, didn’t it?
But Chen Yujia wasn’t one to jump to conclusions. Noticing the troubled look on Wu Yuan’s face, she realized the situation was more complex than she thought.
Yu Mingze, hands on the steering wheel, asked, "Where are we headed?"
"Night market."
The night market? That’ll be crowded, right?
Yu Mingze fell silent after hearing the reply but didn’t press further.
Song Qingyu didn’t feel the need to explain. She glanced at the passing scenery before turning to the back seat.
"Yujia, is your dog named Nuomi?"
"That’s right. I adopted this stray after graduation. Isn’t he cute?"
"Yes, he’s very cute."
Once Chen Yujia started talking about Nuomi, she was unstoppable. She boasted about how her little pet, though just a mixed-breed dog, was very smart and could follow commands like sitting or shaking hands.
"Come on, Nuomi, show the aunts your trick, shake hands!"
The little white dog raised one of its front paws and placed it in Chen Yujia's palm.
Chen Yujia gently shook it and then gestured, "Now, the other paw!"
The little dog did as instructed, wagging its tail, its round eyes reflecting Chen Yujia's figure.
Listening to the laughter, Yu Mingze, who had been quietly eavesdropping, felt a twinge of envy.
Back when he was younger, he’d always wanted a pet cat or dog, but his mother’s allergy to animal fur had put a stop to that.
Now that he was grown up, unless he lived alone outside, he still couldn’t just have a pet. Even if he did, with his busy work schedule, he probably wouldn’t have time to take care of it.
Yu Mingze thought for a moment but ultimately decided not to pursue it.
In the back seat of the car, Wu Yuan, who had just adopted a kitten, was chatting excitedly with them.
"Jia Jia, that camera you recommended? It's awesome! I can keep an eye on my little Bai no matter where I am!"
"I'm glad it's useful."
Chen Yujia glanced down at Nuomi, reminded of the camera.
Wu Yuan noticed her movement and cautiously asked, "How’s Nuomi doing with her injury?"
"I’m not sure how it happened. I’ll check the footage when I get home and see what happened."
Wu Yuan sighed and reached out to touch Nuomi. "Poor thing, where did you hurt yourself?"
Nuomi meowed twice, her little tail wagging furiously behind her.
The car soon arrived at the night market.
The parking lot outside was almost full, and Yu Mingze circled a few times before finally finding an open spot.
After parking the car, he also got out.
Chen Yujia held Nuomi and stood next to Wu Yuan. Song Qingyu walked up to them. Hearing the footsteps behind her, she turned back.
"Are you coming too?"
As expected, Yu Mingze was right behind her.
He ignored the look of reluctance in Song Qingyu's eyes and kept walking. "This place looks cool. I’ve never been here before, so I might as well check it out since I’m free today."
Song Qingyu: "..."
Wu Yuan / Chen Yujia: "...?"
You’d think an elegant woman like Sis Ning would raise a more tactful son.

Fu Yining, usually so dignified, was bored by the charity gala organizer’s speech.
Yu Zhili sat quietly beside her, looking extremely noble and aloof.
Fu Yichen, on the other hand, clicked his tongue, dissatisfied. "This guy sure knows how to talk, but it's all useless nonsense. I wonder when he'll stop."
Fu Yining nodded vigorously.
No surprise there—my brother always knows how to hit the nail on the head!
Fu Yining had never liked listening to long speeches from principals and teachers when she was in school, and it was still the same now.
Yu Zhili, as if hearing her thoughts, slightly turned and asked in a low voice, "Bored?"
"A little."
"It'll be over soon. Shall I take you to eat after the donation?"
"Okay."
Fu Yining thought to herself, she had at least eaten something to fill her stomach just then. This person had been stuck listening to others talk and hadn’t eaten anything since they left the house, right?
Poor guy!
No wonder they say nine out of ten CEOs suffer from stomach issues; it’s probably from skipping meals like this, isn’t it?
Fu Yining shook her head, lost in thought.
The speaker wrapped up his speech and gestured, saying, "Thank you all for coming. Next, please welcome Mr. Yu from Qigui Group to speak!"
Did she just hear them call Yu ZhiLi's name?
Fu Yining looked up and saw that everyone was looking at them.
Yu ZhiLi patted his clothes, stood up, and headed for the stage.
Fu Yining crossed her arms in front of her and casually leaned to the side, "Brother?"
"It's no big deal for him, right?"
"Got it."
That made sense to Fu Yining.
She watched as the tall, handsome man strode confidently toward the podium, and a memory flashed in her mind: a teenage boy in a school uniform being asked to speak on stage, standing up from beside her, and nodding at her.
For a moment, the image of the slender teenage boy merged with Yu ZhiLi as he walked to the stage, causing Fu Yining to quickly blink her eyes.
Why did that strange image pop up again? Was it a memory from the original character, or was it just her imagination?
Fu Yining couldn't understand.
She stared intently at Yu ZhiLi on stage, listening to his deep and elegant voice coming through the microphone, and felt more and more that this world was a bit topsy-turvy.
For someone like him to be stuck with an evil side character for life, with a son who was the male lead, both inheriting the troublesome traits of the female side character’s biological mother and stirring up chaos in the family—it must be hard on him.
Fu Yining sighed.
Fu Yichen, hearing his sister's repeated sighs, looked concerned. "Ningning, what's wrong?"
"Brother, I'm fine," Fu Yining said softly, sighing again.
In the end, she still felt more sorry for herself.
Just because she gave a bad review and got into it with the author, did she really have to end up in this world as the evil side character?
