Chapter 5: Sent to the Hospital
byChapter 5: Sent to the Hospital
Butler Wang confirmed the appointment list and had the young maid bring the two outside repairmen in to fix the broken surveillance cameras.
The maid went to fetch them.
Not far away, Qingyu Song overheard the entire conversation between Butler Wang and the maid, showing surprise at the mention of “broken surveillance.” She hesitated and looked at Fu Yining.
Today, her mother-in-law seemed unusually approachable, so…
After thanking the maid who was supporting her, Qingyu Song walked closer to Fu Yining and tentatively asked, “Mom, about the surveillance cameras…”
Fu Yining replied nonchalantly, “Oh, the surveillance camera broke yesterday. It’s about time we had someone come fix it.”
Qingyu Song was stunned: “…!”
Why did Mother-in-law mention checking the surveillance earlier?
Qingyu Song couldn’t figure it out.
She was thoroughly baffled.
Fu Yining chose not to elaborate.
As the “evil mother-in-law,” she thought that if she suddenly treated the female lead too kindly, it might arouse too much suspicion from others.
They might even send her to a mental asylum to cut her miserable life short prematurely.
The thought sent a shiver down Fu Yining’s spine.
As for her useless son Yu Mingze, who had been “banished” from the house—well, such a useless male lead, was there any reason to keep him around?
With the male lead temporarily handled, what about the female lead?
As Fu Yining pondered how to “be a person” in the future, Qingyu Song had already silently conjured up numerous thoughts.
Where Fu Yining couldn’t see, Qingyu Song’s gaze grew increasingly admiring.
Qingyu Song: She’s called me “Qingyu” several times and even allowed me to call her Mom, defending me. Does this mean she’s starting to accept me?
It must be true!
If Fu Yining could hear her inner monologue, she would only feel sympathetic.
How starved for affection must the female lead be to view the “evil mother-in-law” as a good person based on a few kind words?
Shortly, the two repairmen were led in by the maid to check why the surveillance was broken.
Theoretically, this batch of surveillance systems, developed by the Yu family’s Qigui Group, was of excellent quality, highly praised by customers, and rarely received bad reviews. Yet, it malfunctioned in their own home.
The repairmen couldn’t immediately pinpoint the problem and had to replace it with a new one, taking the faulty camera back for detailed inspection.
Meanwhile, Butler Wang informed Fu Yining that Young Master Yu Mingze had left the house and even taken a sports car from the garage.
Fu Yining understood.
With his beloved white moonlight by his side, how could Yu Mingze bear to let her suffer?
Naturally, he had whisked his beloved away in the family’s luxury car.
It’s better that he’s gone, now there’s peace and quiet!
The repairman was busy, and Wang Yue indicated that he would oversee everything, so Fu Yining didn’t need to supervise constantly.
Fu Yining nodded and prepared to go upstairs to rest.
As she turned to hold the stair railing and took her first step, she heard footsteps behind her: Song Qingyu had followed her involuntarily.
Fu Yining was about to ask why she was following her when she saw Song Qingyu’s face turn pale as she crouched down, holding her stomach.
"What's wrong with you?"
Fu Yining frowned and, not quite used to it, walked over in her high heels.
Song Qingyu, clutching her stomach, gasped out a reply, "Mom, my stomach hurts!"
"Why does your stomach hurt all of a sudden?"
In this situation, Fu Yining thought of only one possibility: Oh no, the main character’s child might be in trouble!
At that moment, the efficient butler, Wang, walked over. "Madam, should we call the hospital?"
"Call! No, wait, get the driver instead!"
Fu Yining thought for a moment. It would be faster to take Song Qingyu directly to the hospital rather than waiting for an ambulance.
Now, she could only hope the child in the protagonist’s womb would hold on until they reached the hospital.
Fu Yining had the maid help Song Qingyu sit down. The nanny, Hu Ma, brought some warm water to ease the pain.
"Young Mistress, are you okay?"
"It still hurts a bit." Song Qingyu took a deep breath, feeling waves of cramping in her lower abdomen.
Hu Ma comforted her, "Young Mistress, please bear with it. We’re taking you to the hospital right away."
Yes. Song Qingyu weakly smiled and looked at Fu Yining, "Mom, can you stay with me?"
Fu Yining, staring at her shoes, answered immediately, "I’ll go with you."
The driver soon arrived, and Song Qingyu was helped into the car. Fu Yining, having changed into more comfortable shoes, quickly got in as well.
Instructing the driver to drive as fast as possible while ensuring safety, they set off.
In the car, Song Qingyu drank a little more of the warm water Hu Ma offered.
Was it her imagination, or did the pain in her lower abdomen disappear the moment she sat in the car?
If nothing was found at the hospital, would her mother-in-law suspect her of lying?
Seeing Song Qingyu's actions, Hu Ma asked nervously, "Young Mistress, what's wrong? Are you feeling worse?"
"No, it's alright."
Song Qingyu subconsciously glanced again in Fu Yining's direction. Seeing that she hadn’t noticed anything unusual, she quietly sighed in relief.
The scenery outside the car whizzed by, and the hospital gates were in sight.
The driver stopped the car, and as soon as Song Qingyu's toes touched the ground, the pre-informed medical staff arrived with a stretcher and helped her onto it.
"Mrs. Fu, hello!"
The Qigui Group was well-known throughout the country, and this private hospital also had a stake in it. The bald hospital director, not daring to be negligent, had already come out of his office to wait for them.
Fu Yining nodded coolly, "No need for pleasantries. My daughter-in-law is feeling uncomfortable in her stomach. Have someone examine her immediately."
"Right away, I'll have someone see to the young mistress right away!"
The director directed the staff to take Song Qingyu into the hospital and arranged the best doctors to examine and treat her.
Fu Yining was escorted to the VIP lounge to wait for Song Qingyu's examination results.
Hu Ma accompanied Fu Yining, standing by the door, occasionally glancing outside and stealing looks at Fu Yining, who was casually sipping tea.
Why is Madam so calm when the young mistress has been rushed to the hospital?
Indeed, a mother-in-law isn’t like a real mother; she just doesn’t care as much.
Fu Yining thought, What else? I'm not a doctor, so what good would it do to be anxious?
In Hu Ma's eyes, Fu Yining was holding a delicate teacup, sipping delicately; however, Fu Yining found the tea overly bitter, and after one sip, she lost her appetite for it.
The small pastries on the table looked nice, but Fu Yining, feeling thirsty, didn’t want to eat anything dry.
If only the young mistress’s condition weren’t uncertain, she would really enjoy buying a cup of milk tea to refresh herself.
Sigh, she’d just have to bear with it for now.
Soon after, the director returned with Song Qingyu’s examination report, his face glowing with excitement.
"Mrs. Fu, we understand the young mistress’s condition!"
Fu Yining stopped playing with her teacup and asked, "What’s her condition?"
"Mrs. Fu, congratulations, the young mistress is pregnant!"
Turning point?
