Chapter 45: The Male Lead, Crying?

The two sisters of the Sun family stumbled out, supporting each other as they left, practically running out of there.

As soon as they were gone, the manager quickly pulled the staff members aside to apologize, fearing that Fu Yining and the others would hold them accountable. After all, they were just employees.

If it weren't for the Sun sisters being too domineering, they would have at most ignored "powerless" Fu Yining and Wu Yuan, and not have provoked them on their own.

And now, look at the big mess they had brought upon themselves.

The regret was written all over the manager's face as the apology gifts she offered almost exceeded the price of the two lip glosses Wu Yuan originally purchased. She looked at Fu Yining, who then asked for her opinion.

So Wu Yuan thought for a moment, with a big bag full of apology gifts, and said, "Alright, I won't pursue today's matter anymore, but I don't feel like buying anything else for now."

Hearing this, the manager was so grateful that she almost bowed down in gratitude.

Wu Yuan didn't look at her but spoke to Lin Su, who looked dazed, "Lin Su, I really liked what you recommended to me today. I'll definitely come back to see you next time!"

    "Uh? Oh, okay."

Lin Su had just snapped out of the earlier shock when another surprise hit her, and her colleagues looked at her enviously.

Hearing this, the manager smiled and said, "Please rest assured, everyone. Lin Su is one of our top-notch employees. The next time you come back, I'll make sure she takes care of you throughout."

Hearing herself being called the "best employee" by the manager, a role she had only just started, Lin Su's eyelid twitched in surprise.

However, she didn't refuse Wu Yuan's kindness and expressed her gratitude.

"Yining, it's okay now, shall we leave?" Wu Yuan stepped back to Fu Yining's side and said softly.

    "Let's go."

Seeing that the matter was settled, the manager warmly saw them off.

Fu Yining saw Yu Mingze standing in front of her, and with a faint smirk, she asked, "What do you want?"

    "Mom!"

    Yu Mingze looked very aggrieved.

He had been away from home for so many days, and Mom didn't even call me once, let alone come to see him.

Their reunion after so many days had occurred under such circumstances, and Yu Mingze felt like he wanted to cry and pour out his grievances to Fu Yining.

But Fu Yining would never accept that.

Seeing that they seemed to have something to say, Wu Yuan thoughtfully called Zheng Anran away, leaving the space for the two of them.

"Now that no one else is here, tell me, what do you want?"

Yu Mingze noticed that Fu Yining's attire was somewhat different from usual, but her rosy complexion and bright skin indicated that she had been living a comfortable life recently, which made him even sadder.

"Mom, we haven't seen each other for so long, and you don't even care about me."

Hearing a man who was over six feet tall acting like a kid who missed his mom, Fu Yining felt a chill run down her spine. She couldn't stand it. You're supposed to be this tough business guy, but here you are, acting like a kid who missed his mom.

A "tycoon," more like a "mommy's CEO," right?

Fu Yining asked politely, "How have you been recently?"

    "Not good at all!"

Yu Mingze couldn't cook, and lately, he had been either ordering takeout or eating out. He was starting to lose his appetite for it.

He missed the dishes made by the chef at home but was too stubborn to go back. But now that he saw Fu Yining, all he wanted was to tag along with her back home.

In the distance, Zheng Anran observed Wu Yuan and asked, "Excuse me, are you Aunt Fu's friend?"

Aunt Fu? Wu Yuan wondered who this "Aunt Fu" was.

Wu Yuan knew that Fu Yining's son was married and assumed Zheng Anran was her daughter-in-law.

Although she found Zheng Anran's way of addressing Fu Yining a bit strange, she jokingly said, "No, actually, I'm just a stylist."

"Oh, so she’s just a stylist." Zheng Anran didn’t care much.

That put Zheng Anran at ease. She understood why Fu Yining hadn't even contacted her mother, Fang Fei, but had sought out this ordinary person as a friend.

Zheng Anran didn’t bother to waste words on unimportant people and turned her back to look in Yu Mingze's direction.

But she never stopped to think why Fu Yining would be here with a stylist on her own.

    Wu Yuan realized the situation.

Looks like Fu Yining’s daughter-in-law doesn’t think much of me, huh? Just because I’m "just" a stylist?

    How superficial!

But it didn’t matter. Wu Yuan thought that she was friends with Fu Yining, not her daughter-in-law. If the daughter-in-law doesn’t like me, oh well.

Wu Yuan placed the heavy handbag at her feet and waited for Fu Yining to finish talking with her son.

Meanwhile, Yu Mingze had been complaining to Fu Yining about his recent troubles for what felt like forever, almost driving her up the wall.

Fu Yining thought that no matter how aggrieved he was, it was his own fault. If he hadn't insisted on believing Zheng Anran's sweet words, she wouldn't have let him live on his own.

Yu Mingze had been blinded by love. Now that he’d cooled off, he was finally coming to admit his mistakes?

    Fu Yining wasn't softened.

Yu Mingze, having said so much without receiving the usual concern, felt a lump in his throat and tears "swished" down his cheeks.

    "…?"

    Fu Yining was dumbfounded.

What? Was the male lead actually crying?

In a hurry, she rummaged through her bag, pulled out a tissue, and pressed it onto Yu Mingze's face, saying, "What are you crying for? Hurry up and wipe it!"

    How embarrassing!

Yu Mingze's throat tightened, and he remained silent, letting her wipe his face carelessly.

He didn’t really want to cry, but he suddenly couldn't control himself, especially facing the particularly indifferent Fu Yining.

He thought, what if Fu Yining really didn’t want him as her son anymore? The thought was terrifying!

Yu Mingze's nose started tingling again, and Fu Yining was even more disgusted.

"Wait, is a grown man really crying? That can’t be her real son, right?"

Because Yu Mingze was facing away from Zheng Anran and Wu Yuan, they didn't see his crying face. Otherwise, both Wu Yuan and Zheng Anran would have been totally surprised.

Fu Yining handed him a tissue with a look of disgust.

With the tissue in his hand, Yu Mingze looked at Fu Yining and hesitantly asked, "Mom, can I go home now?"

"No, my car won’t fit you."

Yu Mingze wanted to say he had driven here, but he ended up saying, "Can I go back tomorrow then?"

With all these people around, Fu Yining didn't want to see him cry anymore. She hesitated for a second before saying, "Fine, do whatever."

    "Mom, I—"

"But there’s one condition: you come back alone. Don’t bring anyone else with you."

It was obvious that Fu Yining was referring to Zheng Anran. Yu Mingze just furrowed his brow and didn't say much.

His desire to go home was extremely strong now; other matters could be ignored.
