    Chapter 164: Food Cravings

He Ping turned his head mechanically, watching the man of legend take Fu Yining's coat and place it aside.

He opened his mouth, stiffly greeting when the man looked over.

    "Brother-in-law."

Yu ZhiLi nodded and asked, "And you are?"

"Brother-in-law, my name is He Ping, I'm Qingyu's college classmate."

"Oh, thank you for coming to visit her."

    "No, no, it's nothing."

He Ping was almost bowled over by Yu ZhiLi's "thank you."

Standing before him was the genius behind the Qigui Group!

He thought meeting him tomorrow through his boss would be impressive enough, but the real surprise was standing right beside him.

He Ping glanced at Wu Yuan, who was trying not to laugh.

Clearly, she knew everything and had kept it from him just to embarrass him.

    Typical of a mischievous friend!

    "Come and eat!"

    "Sure!"

Wu Yuan winked at He Ping, smiling happily, "Ping Ping, Sis Ning wants you to join us for dinner!"

    He Ping: "..."

He wasn't deaf; he'd already heard.

Seeing him standing still, Wu Yuan nudged, "Ping Ping, go help! You can't let Brother-in-law set the table alone, can you?"

    "...!"

    He Ping rushed over.

    "Brother-in-law, let me handle it!"

"How are you feeling?" Fu Yining approached the hospital bed, softly asking Song Qingyu, who was sitting on the bed.

Auntie Qi had just mentioned that she hadn't been feeling well earlier.

    Song Qingyu nodded, "I'm okay."

"Do you want to join us for something to eat?"

"Mom, no need. Auntie Qi already made me dinner, and I'm full."

Song Qingyu felt a bit lazy and didn't feel like moving.

Wu Yuan walked over, linking arms with Fu Yining and laughing, "Actually, I snuck a bite of Qingyu's dinner earlier, and it tasted great."

"So, do you still have room for more?"

    "Eat? Of course, I can!"

Wu Yuan wouldn't really compete with a pregnant woman for food. She just sampled a few bites at Song Qingyu's invitation, satisfying her curiosity about pregnancy meals.

"Sis Ning, what tasty stuff did you and your husband get?"

Fu Yining blinked and hinted, "Why not go over and check it out yourself?"

"Hehe, no need to go over, I can already smell it!"

Wu Yuan exaggeratedly sniffed and immediately showed a pleased expression.

"Hey, Sis Ning, did your kitten really catch a mouse?"

    "Yep, right here."

She had promised to show them a photo, and she kept her word.

Song Qingyu and Wu Yuan huddled around, admiring and praising the kitten.

Seeing this, He Ping couldn't help but remind, "Miss Wu, shouldn't we start eating?"

    "Sorry, I'm on my way!"

    Wu Yuan smiled sheepishly.

    "Sis Ning, let's dig in!"

    "Okay."

Fu Yining scooped some food into a small bowl and offered it to Song Qingyu.

She accepted it with a smile.

    "Thanks, Mom!"

    "No problem, dear."

Fu Yining, noticing her gentle eyes and growing cheerfulness, couldn't help but recall their first meeting.

Back then, Song Qingyu was a timid newlywed, struggling at home under her mother-in-law's disdain and her husband's indifference, nearly losing her unborn child.

Fu Yining glanced at her still prominent belly under the blanket and sighed, "Luckily, I didn't return too late."

    -

Yu Mingze knew mice had big appetites, but he was shocked by how much this one ate.

He stared at the dozen plates, licked clean and gleaming, as if they'd never held food.

But this was his dinner, specially brought to his room by the kitchen, yet he didn't get a bite—it all went to the mouse.

    Tiny body, massive appetite.

Yu Mingze, starving and stone-faced, asked, "Had enough?"

"I'm stuffed! Thanks for the feast—best meal ever!"

The little mouse, content, licked its paws and washed its face, thinking this world wasn't such a bad choice after all.

At least before this, the little mouse, without a physical form, had never truly tasted human food, only able to drool over photos.

Feeling hungry, Yu Mingze asked the kitchen for another bowl of noodles. When Hu Ma brought it to him, she looked worried.

"Master Yu, is your stomach okay? Are you eating too much?"

    "I'm fine."

Yu Mingze had to hide the matter of the little mouse, gritting his teeth and taking all the blame for the extra food.

After Hu Ma left, he took the noodles back to his room.

The little mouse caught a whiff, its whiskers twitching.

It stood up, gripping the iron bars with its tiny hands, and asked curiously, "Mr. Yu, what are you holding?"

Hearing this, Yu Mingze immediately turned his back, clutching the bowl protectively.

    "This is mine! Hands off!"

The little mouse grinned slyly, "I know, I was just curious."

"No more questions, you've already eaten a lot!"

Ignoring the sound of slurping from the little mouse behind him, Yu Mingze quickly finished the bowl of noodles.

Unable to taste it, the little mouse was heartbroken.

Yu Mingze gathered the dishes in the room and placed them aside, dusting off his hands as he looked at the dejected little mouse.

"Little prisoner, I didn't expect you to have such a big appetite!"

The little mouse lowered its head in apology.

"I'm sorry, but I've never eaten human food so delicious before."

So it's only natural to want more, right?

Yu Mingze tsked and advised, "As long as you reform at my Uncle Yanqing's place and start anew, I believe he won't treat you badly."

    "Really? You mean it?"

The little mouse widened its beady eyes, "Can I really eat such delicious food like this again?"

    "Most likely."

Seeing the little mouse so excited, Yu Mingze thought he must tell Chen Yanqing about this.

This greedy mouse doesn't need harsh interrogation; a little food might make it spill the beans.

"Actually, I'm curious, how did you find my house in the first place?"

    "Huh? What?"

The little mouse was daydreaming when Yu Mingze's sudden question interrupted it.

Yu Mingze continued, "Our security is quite strict. Where did you sneak in from?"

The little mouse paused, then shook its head slowly in confusion.

"I was forcibly disconnected and then judged in the system space, and when I opened my eyes, I was here."

Then, two kittens caught me, and I almost thought my life was over.

Although a bite might not necessarily be fatal, it could still cause pain. Since I'm not a masochist, I naturally screamed for help.

Fortunately, the kittens were confused by its strange cries and didn't immediately bite off its head, but instead pinned it down with their paws to play with.

    The little mouse sighed.

It really didn't want to experience the feeling of being stared at by a cat's head that was larger than its own body again.

"Food is the savior of the world!"
