Chapter 42: Miss Wu
by 墨墨不知道Chapter 42: Miss Wu
The moment they stepped in, a saleswoman hurried over to greet them.
A young woman in a work uniform approached, her face bright and welcoming as she smiled at them.
Fu Yining noticed the name tag on her chest: Lin Su.
Lin Su’s voice was warm and inviting. "Good evening! Welcome! What can I show you today?"
Wu Yuan smiled and replied, "I heard that your brand has released a new lip gloss, and I'd like to try it."
"Sure, please follow me."
Since Wu Yuan was the one shopping, Fu Yining followed her.
Lin Su led them to the neatly arranged lip makeup section and took out a few testers to introduce the latest products.
"This is our brand's newly launched Hydrating Series. Feel free to see if there's any color you like."
Wu Yuan had come to try the new lip gloss, so she hadn’t bothered to touch up her makeup after dinner.
"Sister Yining, how about this color?"
Fu Yining examined the light color on Wu Yuan's lips and wasn't impressed. "Too light, it's almost like you're not wearing anything."
"I thought so too."
Wu Yuan’s natural lip color wasn’t very deep, and this shade was barely noticeable on her lips.
Maybe a lipstick would be a better choice.
Wu Yuan wiped off the residue on her lips and continued to try the next one.
Through a transparent glass, a young couple holding hands intimately passed by outside. The girl smiled and said something to the boy. He turned sideways to listen and inadvertently glanced to the side.
"Shall we go and take a look next time?"
After talking for a while, the girl saw that the person next to her wasn’t responding. She tugged at his clothes and pouted coquettishly.
"Mingze, are you okay?"
"No, it's nothing."
Yu Mingze turned away, puzzled.
That's odd. He could have sworn he saw someone inside who looked just like his mother.
Zheng Anran also looked curiously but didn’t notice anything unusual.
"Mingze, let's go, I want to check that place out."
"Okay."
Unaware that her son had just walked by with his ex-girlfriend, Fu Yining remained focused on helping Wu Yuan.
In the end, Wu Yuan picked two lip glosses that were very fresh and flattering on her skin, and then, following Lin Su's recommendation, she tried out other products.
Soon, a pair of elaborately dressed and jewel-adorned sisters swanned in from outside, exuding arrogance. As soon as they entered, they spoke in a condescending tone, demanding to try the product and asking for someone to serve them.
Fu Yining realized they were likely referring to a manager. Judging by the way the sisters carried themselves, they were probably regulars here.
As soon as the sales associates—who had previously shown disdain toward Fu Yining and Wu Yuan—spotted the sisters, they immediately shook off their lazy demeanor and began to fawn over the new arrivals.
"Miss Sun and Miss Sun Jr. are here! Please, have a seat! Xiao Zhang, go call the manager! Xiao Wu, quick, offer them some tea!"
"Coming right away!"
Wu Yuan glanced back at them and quietly pulled her gaze away, thinking to herself that these two seemed even more arrogant than Sis Yining.
While Fu Yining and Wu Yuan were left in the cold, the sisters were treated like royalty. The sales associates bustled about, offering them water and small snacks, fawning over them as much as they could.
Fu Yining wondered why she wasn’t receiving that kind of treatment.
Glancing down at her own attire, she understood.
She wasn’t wearing any jewelry, and her clothes weren’t from any well-known brands. Compared to the sisters, she was far less conspicuous.
Seeing this, Lin Su, who was introducing products to the sisters, asked, "Are you two thirsty? Should I get you some water?"
"No need, don’t trouble yourself."
Wu Yuan held Lin Su back and curiously asked, "Who are those two?"
Lin Su looked up and, slightly bending down, whispered, "They are the daughters of Boss Sun from XX Company. They’re considered VIP customers here."
XX Company?
Fu Yining found the name familiar. She remembered that the Sun family had once tried to arrange a match with the Qigui Group—meaning they wanted to set up a meeting with Yu Mingze.
But back then, the "Fu Yining" of that time hadn’t been interested in their family.
Fu Yining had never met the Sun family’s daughters, so it was no surprise they didn’t recognize her.
Thinking this, Fu Yining felt her past self had made the right call.
Judging by the arrogant demeanor of these two Misses Sun, if one of them had married Yu Mingze, things would have been even worse.
"Sis Yining, what are you thinking about?"
"Nothing, just thinking."
It was possible their hushed conversation had drawn attention, as the younger Miss Sun Jr. shot a sideways glance and pointed her finger. "Sister, are those three talking about us?"
"Don’t jump to conclusions, Little Sister."
Although Miss Sun had rebuked her sister, she immediately turned to the woman pouring tea beside her. "My sister and I are here, so why are you still attending to others?"
The woman hurriedly apologized, "I’m truly sorry, Misses. This new employee is still inexperienced. I’ll make sure to teach her."
"No need to wait. Fix it now!" Miss Sun Jr., accustomed to getting her way at home, felt everyone should follow her rules.
With no other choice, the woman went to fetch Lin Su and politely asked Fu Yining and Wu Yuan to leave.
"Just because they’re here, we can’t shop anymore?" Wu Yuan, having never encountered such a way of doing business, couldn’t help but mutter to Fu Yining.
Lin Su overheard and whispered an apology.
This single action made Miss Sun Jr., who was already suspicious that the two were gossiping, even more upset.
She placed her hands on her hips and snapped, "Hey, why are you still wasting time talking to them? Get them out of here! They have no idea how to behave!"
"Sis, don’t fly off the handle like that. It’s not dignified!"
The moment Miss Sun spoke, Miss Sun Jr. rolled her eyes in response.
Her sister always pretends to be above it all, even though she feels the same way inside. She just won’t say it, leaving me to do the talking. But what can you do? They’re sisters, after all.
Noticing that the Sun sisters had spoken, the woman’s tone grew more urgent. "You two need to leave now. Lin Su, follow me."
"How can they act like this!" Wu Yuan stomped her foot in frustration.
They could leave, but they were worried that if they left, Lin Su would be left to face bullying. After all, the two Sun sisters didn’t seem like the type to let things go easily.
Fu Yining considered the backing of the Fu and Yu families. Provoking the Sun family wasn’t much of a risk for her.
So she stayed and challenged them. "We haven’t finished choosing our items. Why are you rushing us out?"
"Right! And I haven’t even paid yet!" Wu Yuan chimed in.
