Chapter 299: Rumors Say Shen Que Has a White Moonlight
by 不语忧Chapter 299: Rumors Say Shen Que Has a White Moonlight (First Love/Unrequited Love)
Wu Yue's expression instantly changed. Without hesitation, she went after Shen Que, lifting her leg to kick him.
Shen Que blocked the strike, stepping back slightly as he lowered his head to look at her, his smile twisted and defiant. "Wu Yue, we're not done here."
Wu Yue didn’t even think before turning to retreat back into the lounge. Shen Que grabbed her forearm, dragging her back to prevent her from leaving.
He leaned in, his face inches from hers. "Wu Yue, apologize nicely and I'll forgive you."
She had originally planned to placate him, but after being bitten, she was pissed now too.
It was Shen Que and Jian Suiyu who started it first—so what if she paid them back?
Wu Yue raised her head defiantly. "Keep dreaming."
Shen Que’s gaze darkened instantly. He let out a low chuckle. "Fine. You said it yourself."
He released her and turned to leave without another word.
Watching his retreating figure, Wu Yue stood frozen, expressionless yet screaming inside.
Why does my mouth always—?!
Why did it always have to be so stubborn?!
Just take the escape route when it’s given!!
Amid Wu Yue’s silent misery and Shen Que’s murderous aura, they finally endured the remaining agonizing six hours of the shuttle flight.
Wu Yue broke her personal shuttle-docking speed record. Taking a deep breath, she scanned the airport—no Jian Suiyu in sight to take the heat for her. Her stomach dropped.
Just as she braced for Shen Que’s approach, she turned and realized he had already just walked off without a word.
Wu Yue’s mind blanked for a moment. Only after stepping off the shuttle did it sink in—Shen Que had really left without waiting for her.
Absently, she touched the spot where he had bitten her, completely thrown as she muttered:
Wow. The tables have really turned.
....
Meanwhile, at the Academy—
Healing Class
Wu Yue stood on the lecture platform, arms crossed, her gaze glaring daggers.
Below, Shang Baiyi, Chun Ya, Bai Xiong, and Zhang Ze stood in a neat, obedient row.
Zhang Ze pointed at himself in confusion. "Why am I here? I don’t even take healing classes."
Wu Yue arched a brow at him. Zhang Ze immediately straightened up. "Right. My bad."
Wu Yue glared at them, exasperated. "You all just threw me under the shuttle like that—the traitors. Baiyi, you filmed the video? Oh, so you’re a director now? Panning shots and all?"
"And Chun Ya—you were the loudest one cheering it on! Not scared anymore, are you? Not scared he’ll skin you alive?"
Chun Ya mumbled in defense, "Not joining in would’ve been what got us killed."
Baiyi and Zhang Ze nodded in unison. "Yeah, exactly." Chun Ya added, "Yue Yue, you don’t even know how terrifying the captain is. The way he treats us versus you—it’s like he’s got a Jekyll and Hyde thing!"
Wu Yue, "..." He doesn’t have a split personality, he’s just a good actor, and now he doesn't even bother pretending with her anymore.
Zhang Ze noticed Wu Yue's strange expression and asked in confusion,
"Didn't you two go skydiving together? And you even came back together. Why hasn’t the captain been with you the last couple days?"
Wu Yue, "..." Because they were in another cold war.
When it came to love, Shen Que was more serious than she had thought.
Chun Ya, "Yue Yue, you’re heading to the new dungeon tomorrow, right?"
Wu Yue nodded, "Yeah."
Chun Ya, "Is the captain going?"
Wu Yue, "No idea."
They hadn’t said a word to each other since getting back from the poles—how would she know if Shen Que was going?
Chun Ya, "Why not just ask him?"
Wu Yue fell silent, "..."
Chun Ya and Bai Yi exchanged glances, "Did you guys fight again? Are the team rumors actually true!?"
Wu Yue looked up, "What rumors?"
Chun Ya whispered, "They say the captain actually has a first love in his heart—someone he’s loved for years but could never have. That’s why he’s just settling for you."
Wu Yue’s face went cold.
Hah. Real funny.
She wasn’t buying it!
She smiled, "Who said that? Spill it."
Chun Ya shook her head, "No clue, but it’s been going around for days."
No dating history,
No intimacy,
But that doesn’t mean he can’t pine for someone else.
That excuse would fool a lie detector.
Wu Yue shot a look at the crowd below, as if wanting to say something, then sighed hard and walked off.
Watching Wu Yue walk away, Chun Ya murmured, "Yue Yue’s pissed."
Zhang Ze looked horrified, "You’ve got a death wish, spreading crap like that."
No surprise they’re from a scam crew—they’ve seen it all, they’ve got nerves of steel.
Bai Yi, "Chun Ya, this won’t blow up in our faces, right? If they split, we’re toast."
Chun Ya went all-in, "Relax. Knowing Yue Yue, she'll definitely go full throttle with her ultimate move.
When it comes to matters of principle, she never hesitates—she cuts the Gordian knot swiftly.
Besides, they're clearly giving each other the silent treatment over something. Without an excuse, how can she take the initiative to approach him?"
Zhang Ze, "Then, may I ask, O Wise One Chun Ya, have you considered whether they might turn on us after going all out?"
Chun Ya looked at Zhang Ze with an expression that said he was a hopeless case, "You said it yourself—the captain can tandem-skydive with Yue Yue and even pull off extreme mountain descents."
Zhang Ze, puzzled, "Yeah, so what?"
Chun Ya, "With athleticism that strong, the captain must have killer stamina, right?
So after going all out, wouldn’t they be busy putting that stamina to work? Why would they bother with us?"
Zhang Ze stared at Chun Ya in disbelief, blinking rapidly, his face suddenly flushing red.
Chun Ya, confused, "What’s wrong?"
Zhang Ze, bashful, "Teacher Chun Ya, now you’ve got me all kinds of dirty-minded."
....
Shen Que was engaged in a simulated fighter jet battle. As the match ended, sweat trickled down his temple and jawline, dripping into his neck. He loosened his collar, panting as he tried to steady his breathing.
Shen Que lowered his head, taking deep breaths.
Two days. She still hadn’t come to find him.
All she had to do was just say sorry, and he wouldn’t be angry anymore. Yet she stubbornly refused to come—she’s as stubborn as she is sharp-tongued.
Shen Que smashed his bare hand into the simulator in frustration, blood instantly streaking his hand. With a screen that fizzled to static, another fighter jet simulation unit was destroyed.
He stood up, about to leave, when suddenly, he spotted Wu Yue at the entrance of the simulation room.
Wu Yue had searched everywhere before finally tracking down Shen Que in the simulation combat room.
She strode straight up to him. Shen Que glanced at her, then stood and turned away, ready to leave.
Wu Yue reached out, snatching Shen Que’s collar and yanking him down forcefully.
Shen Que raised a brow, looking down at her with a smirk, "Something the matter?"
Wu Yue smiled, "Something the matter."
Shen Que, still bent slightly, eyed her grip on his collar and snorted,
"This is your attitude when coming to apologize?"
Wu Yue, "Who said I came to apologize?"
Shen Que let out a bitter laugh, "Bravo."
He straightened up, let out a long breath, and turned to leave.
If he stayed any longer, he was so mad he might do something he’d regret.
Seeing Shen Que about to walk away again,
Wu Yue murmured:
"You liar!"
Shen Que whirled around and walked up to Wu Yue, "I didn't..."
Seeing Wu Yue raise her head, her eyes red-rimmed, Shen Que froze instantly.
"What's wrong?"
He reached out to her, only for Wu Yue to swat his hand away.
Wu Yue's eyes were bloodshot, tears brimming in her eyes.
"You've been lying to me this whole time."
Shen Que moved closer to console her but was pushed away.
"Get away from me."
Shen Que was out of ideas; he surrendered.
Shen Que, "I waited for you so long in the main flight pod, yet you'd rather have Jian Suiyu help you move your stuff than just give me a little. That's why I was so angry.
It's been two days, and I've been miserable too."
Shen Que reached out to hug Wu Yue, "Can't you just say something nice?"
Wu Yue turned to look at him, "Someone said you have a white moon in your heart."
Shen Que was baffled, "Huh?"
What kind of nonsense is that?
Wu Yue's gaze shifted, "Chun Ya told me. The team's been whispering:
You've always had a white moon in your heart, and I look just like her—I'm her stand-in.
You couldn't have her, so you went after me instead."
Shen Que was stunned speechless, "How could there be such an outrageous rumor?"
Wu Yue stared at Shen Que for a moment, then slowly took two steps back.
"Oh, maybe I misheard."
With that, she edged backward, spun around to bolt.
