Chapter 365: The True Face of Madam Lian
by 不语忧Chapter 365: Madam Lian’s True Colors
Wu Yue hopped off the airship excitedly with Chun Ya when Chun Ya suddenly exclaimed in shock, "Madam?"
Wu Yue turned in surprise, "Madam?"
What the hell was happening?
Not only was Vlad nowhere to be seen, but even Shen Qingci was absent. Only two royal guards shoved Madam Lian at them,
"The Grand Duke refuses to see you. Take this woman and leave!"
Chun Ya gaped, and even Wu Yue was floored.
Hold up, wasn’t this a rescue mission? Wasn’t this supposed to be some badass undercover meetup?!
Vlad!! You promised you’d be here, damn it?!
Coincidentally, Li Yiran happened to be boarding a Li family airship to the Jiang residence nearby. Wu Yue immediately called out to him, "Li Yiran, where’s Vlad?"
Li Yiran didn’t even glance back, acting like Wu Yue was radioactive, pretending not to hear her.
Wu Yue was pissed. After all this trouble, this was the thanks she got?!
Did she have to go nuclear just to get a reaction?!
She raised her voice, "I’m Lu Ling and Jiang Cheng’s kid!"
Chun Ya’s jaw dropped, and she jumped up to cover Wu Yue’s mouth, "Wu Yue!! Have you lost it?! Why the hell would you blurt that out?!"
Wu Yue repeated, "Li Yiran, I’m Lu Ling and Jiang Cheng’s daughter. Grab me now, and you’ve got a game-changing hostage!"
Li Yiran had initially wanted to ignore Wu Yue, but her relentless pestering infuriated him. He walked up to her,
"So now you’re claiming to be Lu Ling and Jiang Cheng’s long-lost daughter, the golden child the whole Secretariat, Dao Sect, and Jiang family worship?"
Wu Yue was finally satisfied with Li Yiran’s reaction this time. She gave a cryptic nod, "Yes."
Li Yiran barked a sarcastic laugh, "Ha! Ha! So this so-called treasured daughter, in the midst of the Alliance’s turbulent situation, comes alone to negotiate with the opposing royal court and the Li family?
All because Shen Que played with your feelings?! Hear yourself—does that sound sane?!"
Wu Yue glared, "No, isn’t this the kind of logic you people love to use? You guys won’t lift a finger unless it’s some soap opera crap, and now you’re blaming me?!"
Li Yiran, "And then what? You say you’re Lu Ling and Jiang Cheng’s daughter, so if we actually do something to you, the Jiang family will immediately have an excuse to crush the Li family!
You couldn’t trick Vlad, so now you’re trying to fool me instead, huh? Anyone you can trick is fair game!
Oh please—you think I’m a dumbass like Vlad? I’m not falling for that!"
Wu Yue had never been more sincere in her life, "...No, you’ve got it wrong. I’m really not lying, I truly am..."
Li Yiran waved his hand impatiently, "Enough, enough, enough. I don’t care whose daughter you are today—even if you were Lu Ling herself, I’d tell you to go back where you came from and do whatever you want.
I don’t care about your Jiang family soap opera. If you can’t figure out your own relationships, why drag innocent people into it?! If you can talk, talk. If not, deal with it yourselves!
I’m the one getting screwed here—why should I get cucked?! If it’s ~true love~, don’t sign up for a political marriage!!"
Li Yiran stormed off, muttering curses as he turned and boarded the Li family airship and didn’t look back.
The two royal guards who came to deliver Madam Lian, upon hearing the gruesome details of Frank's death and realizing Wu Yue was from Blaze, turned and ran like their tails were on fire, without a second thought.
In an instant, the airport was left eerily quiet. A cold wind blew past, leaving only Wu Yue, Chun Ya, and Madam Lian standing in the desolate chill, utterly wretched.
Though they had agreed this rescue mission had no fixed plan—just improvising as they went—this unexpected turn of events left both Wu Yue and Chun Ya totally bewildered.
Wu Yue took three deep breaths and signaled to Chun Ya, "Let’s go. Get the Madam and board the shuttle first."
Chun Ya nervously asked Madam Lian, "Are you alright? Did those people do anything to you?"
No sooner had Chun Ya finished speaking than Madam Lian lashed out with a stinging slap.
Wu Yue’s eyes turned icy, while Chun Ya silently lowered her head, covering her cheek without a word.
Wu Yue turned to Madam Lian, her tone dangerous. "I said, get on the shuttle. Unless you want to die right now."
Madam Lian angrily boarded the shuttle, and as Wu Yue started up the shuttle, she exploded in rage, berating Chun Ya:
"Chun Ya, what the hell was that information you provided?! How could it trigger such a severe reaction, costing me Grand Duke Vlad's trust?!
No matter what I say to him now, he won't believe a word I say!!
Where is Lianyi? Why didn’t he come himself?!"
Chun Ya kept her head down as she replied, "Young Master Lianyi has officially renounced his name and joined Blaze. From now on, he no longer needs to worry about..."
Madam Lian drove her foot into Chun Ya. "Useless! How could I have given birth to such a pathetic failure like Huo Lianyi!!
With the Huo family in ruins, he never once thought of restoring it—all he cares about is living under an alias with his people!!
No wonder Yi Na said he wasn’t fit to lead the Huo family. He has no ambition at all—how could he ever be worthy of being the Patriarch of one of the Four Great Families?!"
Chun Ya lifted her head. "Madam, Young Master Lianyi has always done his best. And he’s protected all the remaining members of our Huo family well. We’ve been very happy in Blaze."
Madam Lian sneered. "Oh, how carefree you all must be! The Huo family falls, and you fools play dumb to live in blissful ignorance.
Even when I was taken hostage, you stonewalled in delivering the information to Blaze—and in the end, you even gave bad intel!!
It’s clear you don’t care whether I live or die. You just want me dead as soon as possible!!"
Chun Ya answered haltingly, "Madam, Young Master Lianyi has finally started a new life. And Captain Shen once saved him. You know how gentle his nature is.
Didn’t you always say before that as long as Young Master Lianyi could live happily, that was enough?"
Madam Lian’s voice was pure poison. "That was before!! Back when I was still the respected Huo Matriarch of the Four Great Families!!
Not like now—a useless pawn to be bossed around and thrown away at will!!"
Chun Ya lowered her head and said nothing.
Madam Lian fixed her with a murderous glare. "Kill this woman. She knows too much.
And since you say Lianyi has been accepted back into Blaze—if you two are useless, I’ll go to Blaze myself.
I will make sure the Secretariat and the Dao Sect pay with their blood!!"
Chun Ya whispered faintly, "Madam, you know very well that the Huo family’s downfall had nothing to do with the Secretariat or the Dao Sect.
Ever since Yi Na entered the Huo family, it’s been rotting from the core outward, like a corpse riddled with maggots."
This hit Madam Lian where it hurt most. She rained kicks down on Chun Ya, as if only this could vent her hatred and fury.
Throughout it all, Chun Ya remained kneeling silently, taking the blows without flinching.
Finally, as Wu Yue engaged autopilot, she abruptly turned and slammed her fist straight at Madam Lian’s face.
