Chapter 366: Wu Yue and Chun Ya Team Up to Kill a Witness

    "Hah..."

Chun Ya quickly stood up, while Wu Yue grabbed Madam Lian without hesitation and prepared to continue beating her.

Madam Lian shouted at Chun Ya, "Chun Ya, are you really going to stand by and watch her hit me?! Have you forgotten who raised you, who took you from a dying orphan in the refugee camp and raised you like a noble's daughter?!"

Wu Yue punched her hard in the face. "Hasn't Chun Ya given enough? Is she just unlucky enough to be manipulated by you for the rest of her life?"

Madam Lian glared coldly at Wu Yue. "Who do you think you are, talking to me like this?!"

Wu Yue smiled. "I am the Jiang family’s eldest daughter. Have you forgotten whose shuttle you're on? Who exactly are you trying to intimidate?"

Madam Lian's eyes darted wildly. She suddenly realized with a jolt that what Wu Yue had said to Li Yiran at the airport might very well be true!

A complex, intricate spell array suddenly appeared in Madam Lian's hand, and she seized Wu Yue, who found herself frozen in place.

With a wild-eyed stare, Madam Lian looked at Chun Ya.

"She's telling the truth, isn't she? Earlier, she was about to reveal her identity, but you stopped her—so you knew all along!"

Chun Ya instinctively denied it. "No, she's lying!"

Madam Lian's expression turned dangerous. "Chun Ya, now you dare lie to me? But I've watched you grow up—I can read you like a book."

Chun Ya took a step back.

Madam Lian's tone turned honeyed. "Come here, Chun Ya. Capture her and hand her over to the Alliance President. With the tide against us, the Alliance President could turn the tables completely. When the dust settles, our Huo family will rise again!

"I know you've always loved Lianyi since childhood. If the Huo family can be restored, I'll personally arrange for you two to be together. Then, you and Lianyi will never have to part.

"Otherwise, I'll have no choice but to go to Lianyi myself. Chun Ya, you know how he is—you wouldn't want to put him in a difficult position, would you?"

Chun Ya let out a slow breath and pulled a razor-sharp dagger from her waist. Under Madam Lian's fervent gaze, she advanced slowly toward Wu Yue.

Wu Yue struggled but found herself frozen in place—not only unable to move, but even her communicator was disabled.

The array Madam Lian used was something Wu Yue had never seen before, likely one of the Huo family's best-kept secrets. Wu Yue turned her gaze to Chun Ya.

Chun Ya suddenly raised the knife. Under the watchful eyes of both women—

    *Schlick.*

Madam Lian's face went slack with shock as she looked down at her chest.

Expressionless, Chun Ya rammed the blade deep into her heart, twisted the hilt 180 degrees, and savagely shredded her heart before pulling it out without hesitation.

Blood splattered across Chun Ya's face. As Madam Lian's strength failed, the restraints on Wu Yue vanished instantly. Chun Ya collapsed to the ground, gulping for air.

Wu Yue leapt up and summoned the Frostmoon Icicle, ready to deliver the final blow—

Just as she was about to strike, her comm device blew up with notifications:

    "Shen Que: [chat_screenshot.jpg]"

"Shen Que: Wu Yue, where are you right now?"

Wu Yue stared at the screenshot Shen Que had sent—the one she had fabricated, packed with lies about him, which she had sent to Vlad.

Vlad actually had the nerve to ask Shen Que if he didn't like women—if that was the case, he should've said so earlier!!!

...Goddamn it, that old creep Vlad!!

Maybe it’s a cultural thing, but that's not how things are done here.

She’d never seen two people go at it like this, yet still swap chat screenshots and gossip like it’s no big deal!!!

Wu Yue immediately blocked Shen Que. She had more pressing matters to deal with, but then it occurred to her—

She straight-up cut their teleportation ring link with Shen Que.

    ....

When he got the alert that the bond was cut, Shen Que lost it!!

Shang Baiyi had just stepped into Blaze when he was nearly killed by Shen Que's raging psychic energy.

Shang Baiyi freaked, "The hell’s happening?"

Shen Que’s voice went icy, "Wu Yue took Chun Ya alone to World City to meet Vlad, but Vlad didn’t see them—instead, they sent Madam Lian away."

Shang Baiyi, "Then why the meltdown now?"

Shen Que, "Wu Yue blocked my comms and severed our teleportation ring bond."

Shang Baiyi, puzzled, "Did something go down—"

Before he could finish, his own comm device rang. Ignoring the murderous Shen Que, he jumped up,

"Chun Ya ditched our Soulmate Bond! What’s going on? We already beat the Fox Spirit quest—how could she just end it without a word?!"

Shen Que clammed up instantly. With Shang Baiyi's precedent, he didn’t dare get angry now.

Shen Que egged Shang Baiyi on, "Try contacting her."

Shang Baiyi couldn’t even find Chun Ya’s comms. "She blocked and deleted me—I can’t even send a new request."

Shen Que grew even quieter, quiet as a mouse.

He looked pleadingly at Richard, "Do something."

Richard pondered, "Do you have your mother Madam Lian’s contact? They should be together."

Shang Baiyi nodded eagerly, "I do!"

    ....

Just as Wu Yue finished dealing with Shen Que, Chun Ya also settled things with Shang Baiyi. Without a word, both grabbed their knives and, with perfect synchronicity, finished her off.

Temples, neck, both sides of the heart...

Wu Yue crushed Madam Lian’s soul, making sure it was gone for good.

Once you kill someone, you have to make sure she stays dead—totally, irreversibly—no respawns.

The two knelt over Madam Lian’s body. Chun Ya announced flatly,

    "Flatlined for five-plus minutes."

Wu Yue still wasn’t satisfied. "Melt the body too. No way I’m risking her coming back."

A look passed between them and simultaneously began pulling up their menus for venom, toxins, and acid or some shit.

While they were searching, Madam Lian's personal communicator suddenly rang, and both froze mid-movement.

A dark and windy night, a perfect night for murder. A small airship floated alone in mid-air, where two killers worked to dispose of the crime scene and attempting to destroy the evidence. Then, the victim's communicator suddenly rang—the caller ID: her son.

Chun Ya hesitated for a moment, about to reach for the communicator, but Wu Yue snatched it away first.

    "Just say it was me."

Wu Yue had heard everything—Madam Lian had just said that Chun Ya had always liked Huo Lianyi since childhood.

Chun Ya suddenly laughed. "I've already severed the 'fated bond' with Young Master Lianyi. I killed his mother with my own hands. There's no future for us now."

Wu Yue corrected her, "I told you, *I* killed her. It was because she kidnapped me, wasn't it?"

Chun Ya shook her head. "Wu Yue, we both know very well that with Madam Lian's methods, she never could've captured you.

Such a clumsy setup won’t fool Young Master Lianyi. In truth, both the Young Master and I knew something was off about Madam Lian’s capture. He was really struggling with it.

I killed her because I *wanted* to kill her. I'll gladly bear the infamy of betraying my mentor, denying my upbringing, and die for it.

But I absolutely cannot let her keep using the hatred of family and clan to manipulate Young Master Lianyi and ruin his entire life."

Wu Yue directly asked Wu Xiuli for corpse-dissolving powder and reduced Madam Lian’s body to nothing. As the remains turned to ash, Wu Yue collected the ashes and burned them twice more with Red Lotus Karmic Fire.

Chun Ya frowned. "Captain Shen still not here yet?"

Wu Yue shrugged. "I blocked him and disabled the teleportation rings."

Chun Ya widened her eyes in surprise. Wu Yue fetched two cans of beer from the airship’s lounge fridge—one for herself and one for Chun Ya.

Pop! went the beer caps, echoing in the silent night. The two sat on the steps where they'd just disposed of Madam Lian’s body and clinked their bottles together.

A crisp *clink*, and a bit of foam spilled out.

    Chun Ya asked, "What now?"

Wu Yue replied, "No idea. Who cares?"
