Chapter 377: Let’s Each Go Our Separate Ways and Never Meet Again
by 不语忧Chapter 377: Better to Go Our Separate Ways and Never Cross Paths Again
Chun Ya watched as Shen Que and Wu Yue entered the room together, confirming their reconciliation before she began packing her things.
From the moment they returned to the base, Shang Baiyi had stuck to her side like glue, even barging into her dorm room—something he’d normally been too embarrassed to do.
Seeing her movements, he immediately blocked her path. "What are you doing?"
Chun Ya replied, "Miss Yu Hua is getting engaged. I’ll be going to the Jiang family with Wu Yue to help."
Shang Baiyi wasn’t buying it for a second. "You need to pack all this just to help out?"
Chun Ya kept her head down. "I still need to pack a change of clothes."
Shang Baiyi gritted his teeth. "Chun Ya, don’t think I don’t know what you’re planning. We already had an agreement."
Chun Ya met his gaze calmly. "You were just trying to calm me down back then. I don’t want to die anymore, but we can’t go back to how things were. Feelings wear off, and eventually, you’ll remember everything I did to Madam Lian. Young Master Lianyi, instead of making each other miserable later, it’s better to—"
Shang Baiyi let out a bitter laugh. "You want us to just erase each other and move on? You joined the Huo family at six years old. We grew up together—fifteen years, and now you’re telling me you want to cut ties?"
Chun Ya lowered her head, her expression blank. "...That’s your own interpretation. I never said that."
Shang Baiyi scoffed. "Fine, then what were you going to say? 'Better to' what?"
Chun Ya answered quietly, "Better to go our separate ways and never cross paths again."
Shang Baiyi’s jaw clenched in anger. "And how is that any different from what I said? Chun Ya, don’t mess with me. I know you—acting all meek and timid, but you’ve spent your whole life finding ways to oppose me! I’ll let you have your way in anything else, but not this. This isn’t up for debate. You *will* listen to me."
No matter what Shang Baiyi said, Chun Ya acted as if she hadn’t heard, tuning him out completely.
She continued packing, even brushing him off. "Young Master Lianyi, it’s late. It’s not proper for you to be alone in my room. You should leave. I need to rest."
Shang Baiyi stared at her for a long moment before suddenly asking, "So you’ve really made up your mind, haven’t you?"
Chun Ya paused. "Yes."
Shang Baiyi pressed, "You’re sure? Chun Ya, don’t regret this."
Chun Ya took a sharp breath and affirmed, "I won’t regret it."
Shang Baiyi bit back his anger, lips pressed into a thin line. "Fine. Then have a nice life at the Jiang family."
With that, he turned and slammed the door hard behind him, storming off without another word.
Chun Ya shook violently, her eyes reddening as she covered her face with her hands, tears pouring down uncontrollably.
She crumpled to the floor, sobbing, her whole body trembling.
After a long while, she finally pulled herself together, exhaling deeply before lowering her head and went back to packing.
....
Shen Que had just managed to coax Wu Yue to sleep when he suddenly heard a knock at the door. He tucked Wu Yue in, pulled on some clothes, and opened the door.
Seeing Shang Baiyi standing outside,
Shen Que asked, puzzled, "What are you doing here so late? Shouldn't you be asleep?"
Shang Baiyi was blunt, "You and Wu Yue are together now, right?"
Shen Que’s expression wavered for a second before he played dumb, "...Huh?"
Shang Baiyi brushed it aside, "Enough. I’ve helped you so many times—now it’s your turn. Give me that talisman Wu Yue drew to dismiss the fox spirit."
Shen Que was shocked and lowered his voice, "Are you kidding? I wouldn’t dare."
He and Wu Yue had just gotten together—if she found out, she’d kill me.
Shang Baiyi said louder, "Chun Ya is determined to leave. She’s made up her mind. Wu Yue, you’ve seen how stubborn she is, haven’t you?"
Shen Que hissed, "Keep your voice down! She’s asleep!"
Shang Baiyi scoffed, "Yeah, your wife’s asleep—mine’s leaving me! You’ve only been lovesick for a few months—how long have I waited for Chun Ya to grow up?"
Wu Yue’s voice came from inside, "Shen Que."
The moment she spoke, Shen Que immediately turned and hurried back into the room.
A moment later, he returned and shoved something into Shang Baiyi’s hand.
Before closing the door, he clapped Shang Baiyi on the shoulder with a smug grin,
"Good luck, man."
Shang Baiyi turned and left without another word, muttering under his breath, "...Go to hell. Damn it, now this guy gets to gloat."
Once the door was closed, Shen Que sidled up to Wu Yue, trying to stir trouble,
"Chun Ya’s your good friend, isn’t she? You just gave that to Shang Baiyi—what if he forces her?"
Wu Yue sighed, "...He and Chun Ya grew up together. The fox spirit incident hasn’t even been that long—if he wanted to force her, would he wait for me to rescue her? He forgave her for killing his mother. Let them work it out."
Shen Que had no interest in meddling in other people’s love lives. All he wanted was to hold his wife and sleep.
Grinning, he pulled Wu Yue into his arms, kissing her cheek gently, "Go to sleep, love."
After Wu Yue fell asleep, Shen Que still felt restless. She had bled earlier—he had to heal her.
Wu Yue flushed red and refused, but in the end, Shen Que insisted, pinning her down to "heal" her.
And how did he heal her? The only way he knew how—with his mouth.
Shen Que’s mind kept replaying the sight of Wu Yue’s flushed face, her hazy, pleasure-drunk eyes.
He... craved more.
Even after "healing" her, he wasn’t done. Wanted to go on forever.
He immediately pulled out his communicator and started searching. He was now brimming with a curious and proactive mindset—whatever he thought of, he acted on it right away.
Confirming that bleeding only happened the first time and there was no need to worry afterward, and considering people's stamina these days, they could easily go for another round. Shen Que's mind started racing.
The idea that both their first times belonged to each other made Shen Que feel as if he were floating on clouds. Unable to resist, he lay down beside Wu Yue and pulled her close.
Wu Yue was already out cold. Shen Que lowered his head to kiss her forehead, feeling as though all of this was like a dream.
Kissing her, he couldn't help but bury his face in her neck.
Wu Yue sleepily swatted at him. "I'm asleep..."
Shen Que immediately responded, "Mhm, mhm, go ahead and sleep, my love. I'll handle this myself."
Wu Yue buried her face in his chest. "Husband, I'm sleepy..."
Shen Que bit back a grin, putting on a sad face. "Wife, you said you wanted to break up with me. I was so heartbroken."
Wu Yue, "..."
She gave him a helpless glance before, under Shen Que's expectant gaze, looping her arms around his neck and leaning into him.
....
Chun Ya finished packing all her belongings and heaved a sigh.
Leaving the team insignia at the Jiang residence saved her from the awkwardness of handing it over to Shang Baiyi in person.
Gripping her dorm keycard, she reminded herself that dorm assignments were handled by Aunt Chen, who was at the Jiang residence. She just needed to hand it over to her there.
Taking one last look at the stripped-bare room, Chun Ya swung the door open—
Only to freeze when she saw Shang Baiyi leaning against the doorway.
Shang Baiyi asked, "All packed?"
Chun Ya nodded. "Yeah."
Shang Baiyi said, "Let’s go. After all this time, I’ll see you off one last time."
Chun Ya’s nose burned, tears pricking her eyes. She kept her head down, silent.
Shang Baiyi was already moving down the hall. He shot her a sideways look, and Chun Ya followed behind him.
The late-night dormitory hallway was dead quiet except for their footsteps.
Walking,
walking,
Chun Ya started getting suspicious...
"Wait—" She looked up at Shang Baiyi in confusion. "Where are you taking me?"
The elevator reached the fourth floor. Shang Baiyi turned to her. "I’m now Blaze's vice-captain. I have my own place."
"Didn’t you want to move dorms? Perfect—you're moving in with me."
Chun Ya’s expression changed. Oh hell no. She reached for the first-floor button, but Shang Baiyi pushed her back against the elevator wall.
No one stepped out. Slowly, the elevator doors closed.
In the quiet of the night, the elevator remained stationary, becoming a small, enclosed space.
Shang Baiyi told her, "You know someone is always watching Blaze's surveillance. If you insist on talking here, it’s fine with me."
"Let alone talking, even kissing me here is fine."
Chun Ya's eyes widened slightly as she blinked, "What did you say?"
Shang Baiyi leaned closer to her, "Chun Ya, after all these years of playing charades, it's time to be honest with each other.
After giving Shen Que and Wuyue so many ideas, they succeeded while we failed. Do you think that's fair?"
Chun Ya looked at Shang Baiyi in surprise, turning to glance at the surveillance camera before she could fully turn around.
Shang Baiyi, already holding her waist, kissed her directly.
....
Wu Xiuli, who had just sat down in the surveillance room, exclaimed,
"Wow, Blaze is really getting adventurous now?"
Wu Chong entered a step behind,
"Hmm? Sister Xiuli, what are you—"
Before he could finish, Wu Xiuli quickly covered his eyes, "Kids shouldn't see this."
Wu Chong's tone suddenly changed,
"Sister Xiuli, I'm not a kid anymore."
