Chapter 445: Opening a New Alliance Chapter
by 不语忧Chapter 445 Opening a New Alliance Chapter
Central City Alliance Secretary-General’s Office
Lu Li, "Miss Wu Yue has been staying over at Prince Noah’s place for two days."
Zhou Qianfeng glanced at Lu Li, making him kinda uncomfortable. Hey, he's still a pure-hearted dude, after all.
Zhou Qianfeng stood up, "Since they have reconciled, the Deification Project has officially ended in failure. Let us immediately kick off a new alliance chapter.
Let's go see Wu Yue.
Let's ask this savior who has been playing dumb all along what she really means now."
...
After breakfast, Wu Yue took a couple lazy laps in the garden, considering it her daily workout done for the day.
She sat on the swing, gently swinging while watching Shen Que getting his workout in not far away.
Shen Que turned to look at her, "Honey, let me help you stretch?"
Wu Yue, "...So early in the morning? I’m good, thanks."
Before they could exchange more words, Shen Que received a notification that someone was here.
Shen Que, "The Secretary-General is here. I’ll get him."
Zhou Qianfeng walked in and saw Wu Yue lazily sprawled on the swing, just lounging around. His face immediately fell.
"You look exactly like your mother right now—so much so it makes me wanna kick you."
Wu Yue blinked and stood up, "Uncle Zhou, I’m fragile right now."
Zhou Qianfeng, "Don’t make me gag. You’ve been playing dumb and dodging all my messages.
I know what you mean. You want to avoid the rapid development phase of the newly established alliance, just like your father did back in the day.
But you suddenly brought all these newborns into the alliance. The families of those children are all insisting on thanking you in person."
Wu Yue, "...I might ascend right then and there at a mass meeting due to their overwhelming gratitude."
Shen Que immediately turned his head, "You said you wouldn’t ascend again."
Wu Yue, "The Way of Heaven’s gone downhill, but the people’s enthusiasm is too much.
Didn’t I already modify their memories? How do so many people still know?"
Zhou Qianfeng, "Walls have ears. Besides, those who chose to have children at this time are mostly long-term residents of World City or even Central City. They have their own channels to learn the truth about the day of the Deification Project."
Wu Yue shrugged, "Then there’s no way I can go. If the Deification Project is to truly end, I must stay down-to-earth."
Zhou Qianfeng sighed, "The Secretariat is in a difficult position. Not publicly acknowledging your contributions to the entire Deification Project is like stealing your thunder.
But once it’s made public, you, as a deity, would become the Sword of Damocles hanging over the new Alliance President and even the entire alliance."
Wu Yue, "I thought my stance was clear enough. I have no interest in this credit.
Look at how messy things ended up for my parents’ generation. Why bother?
If the Secretariat feels too guilty to take credit alone, just involve a few more parties. Share the moral burden among everyone."
"Moreover, my purpose in doing all this has always been to save my mother. If anything, I’m the one exploiting public resources for personal gain—skimming wool from the collective herd to stuff my own bedding. In the old days, that would’ve earned me a public criticism session."
She never wanted to be a deity. Her self-image has always been that of a lazy, good-for-nothing salted fish. She has no idea how the plot twisted so far off course that she ended up playing the savior.
Zhou Qianfeng was about to say more, but Wu Yue cut him off:
"Here’s an idea: just tell everyone I’m now a delicate, helpless dodder vine—the homebound, pampered wife of Prince Noah.
I’m extremely socially anxious and introverted. If I do go out, it’s through sewer tunnels, too shy to face anyone.
I never intended to save anyone anyway. I was just too dumb, naive, and gullible—they captured me and forced me into the ritual array. If everyone hadn’t risked their lives to rescue me, the world would have been destroyed. That should make them lose interest in me, right?"
Zhou Qianfeng’s expression instantly twisted as if he’d swallowed a hundred flies. Without another word, he turned and walked away, as if he never wanted to see Wu Yue again in this lifetime.
Damn, it’s been a while since he felt that disgusted—he hadn’t felt anything like it since Lu Ling left!
Now Wu Yue hit him with a *2.0 upgraded pro max version*!
Wu Yue waved goodbye to Zhou Qianfeng. "Uncle Zhou, safe travels! Look after your health!"
After seeing Zhou Qianfeng off, Wu Yue turned back and saw Shen Que staring at her, his face a little red.
Wu Yue was puzzled. "What’s with that look?"
Shen Que shyly averted his eyes. "You just said you’re my... pampered wife."
Wu Yue nodded. "Exactly. That’s my new persona now."
"Ding! A three-month limited-time pampered wife experience card."
Three months of coasting would be enough for the Alliance’s new structure to solidify and for her to fully recover.
Shen Que was over the moon, practically floating on air. He shyly edged closer, wrapped his arms around Wu Yue, and pulled her into an embrace.
Shen Que: "Honey, I want you."
Wu Yue pushed him away. "You said yesterday you wouldn’t touch me for the next couple of days."
Shen Que denied it. "I never said that."
Wu Yue was incredulous. "So now you’re just outright denying it, huh?"
Shen Que couldn’t contain himself any longer. God, he was so thrilled to hear Wu Yue personally tell Secretary-General Zhou that she was his wife.
Wu Yue pushed Shen Que several times but couldn’t budge him. Shen Que’s hand slipped under her clothes, cupping the back of her head as he kissed her deeply.
As soon as Wu Yue looped her arms around Shen Que’s neck, he scooped her up in a princess carry and headed toward the house.
Suddenly, he cursed under his breath. "Shit... not another visitor!"
Shen Que was about to outright reject the visitor until he saw it was the new Alliance President, Bai Hu. Reluctantly, he kissed Wu Yue and set her down.
Shen Que: "Honey, wait in the reception room. I’ll escort the Alliance President in."
Wu Yue blinked. "No way! He’s the Alliance President! I’ll go with you to greet him."
Shen Que: "When Secretary-General Zhou came earlier, you didn’t even budge an inch."
Wu Yue smiled sweetly. "That’s different. Uncle Zhou is like a father to me. No need to stand on ceremony with your own dad."
Bai Hu wasn't the least bit surprised to see Wu Yue and Shen Que together. He had just received word from Zhou Qianfeng that Wu Yue had declined to show up, right as he was on his way to the royal palace.
He immediately changed his destination and decided to meet with Wu Yue first.
Seeing Bai Hu, Wu Yue didn’t act as flippant and informal as she had with Zhou Qianfeng. Instead, she politely greeted, "Good day, Alliance President."
Bai Hu looked at Wu Yue and immediately saw what she was up to.
He chuckled, "Wu Yue, when you came to me before, you weren’t like this. You called yourself the turtle in the wishing pond and boldly asked me to throw coins your way. Now that S4 is over, you’ve suddenly gotten all formal on me."
Wu Yue immediately ducked behind Shen Que, pushing him forward repeatedly, which left Bai Hu baffled.
As the officially appointed spokesperson for the darling wife, Shen Que spoke with utmost seriousness and conviction, telling Bai Hu:
"Alliance President, Wu Yue is actually quite timid. She’s too shy to speak with you directly. If you have anything to discuss, please talk to me."
Bai Hu, "..."
Perhaps he really was getting old, because he simply couldn’t wrap his head around the lovey-dovey games of these two.
Bai Hu took a deep breath, "So, you’ve made up your mind not to show up this time?"
Wu Yue, "Mhm."
Bai Hu, "Got it."
Before leaving, Bai Hu turned back to look at Wu Yue,
"Even if you’re not showing up, there’s no need to be so distant with me. Calling me 'Uncle' shouldn’t make a deity like you feel like it’s beneath you, right?"
Wu Yue popped her head out, smiling and waving,
"Not at all, it’d be an honor. Goodbye, Uncle Bai Hu. Feel free to come hang out sometime."
Bai Hu turned to Shen Que, "Prince Noah, come with me. I happen to have something to talk to you and the current Prince Squire about."
Shen Que, "...Okay."
Shen Que realized that his alone time with his wife had, from this moment on,
officially run out!!
