Chapter 432: Ambiguous Atmosphere
by 不语忧Chapter 432: The Ambiguous Atmosphere
When the shuttle arrived at the base, Wu Yue was flushed all over, her neck and collarbone covered with hickeys left by Shen Que. Without looking back or daring to glance at him, she turned and walked away.
Having gotten what he wanted, Shen Que deliberately hung back on purpose, cutting her some slack. His gaze lingered on her flushed face and averted eyes. Only when the elevator doors closed and she was gone did the corners of his mouth, which he had been suppressing, finally curl into a slow grin.
His mind was filled with one thought:
He liked it, he really liked it. So much that his mind felt hazy, and his entire body tingled with electric shivers.
God only knew how much willpower it had taken for him not to chase after her.
If he weren’t worried that Wu Yue’s current physical condition couldn’t take his stamina, he would never have let her go.
Back in her room, Wu Yue stepped into the bathroom and took off her dress. Staring at the mirror, she saw the hickeys all over her body and suddenly covered her face.
Shen Que... this total scoundrel...
What difference was there between this and actually going all the way?!
It was even more overwhelming than when they'd actually done it!
Early the next morning,
Wu Yue went to the plantation, picked fresh-picked daisies, and placed them in front of Shen Que’s parents’ graves. When she turned around, Shen Que was standing right behind her.
Wu Yue was startled. "Do you always walk so quietly?"
Shen Que stepped closer, wrapped an arm around her waist, cradled the back of her head, and leaned in to kiss her.
Embarrassed, Wu Yue pushed him away. "Your parents are watching."
Shen Que picked her up with one arm. "Then let’s take this somewhere else."
Back in the room, as soon as the door closed, Shen Que pressed Wu Yue against the door with one hand, holding her up as he leaned in for a deep kiss.
Wu Yue wrapped her arms around his neck, making her tilt her head back as he kissed her.
Her voice came out in breathless bursts. "You... don’t you know any restraint?"
And it was still so early in the morning!
Shen Que kissed her earlobe. "I already been restrained enough by letting you go back to sleep peacefully last night."
Wu Yue had slept well, but he had tossed and turned all night long, on fire all over.
Even if they couldn’t do anything, he still wanted to sleep in the same bed as his wife.
When he heard Wu Yue open her door in the morning, he followed without even thinking. Seeing that she had gone to pay respects to his parents first thing, he felt instantly over the moon.
Shen Que carried Wu Yue to the sofa, his hand sliding to the small of her back as he tried to undo the zipper of her dress.
Wu Yue struggled. "Shen Que!"
His voice was hoarse. "Stop moving. I won’t do anything, I just—"
Wu Yue pushed him away, putting space between them, and reached behind her back to pull up the zipper he had halfway undone.
One standing, one sitting, they looked at each other, both breathing shallowly.
Wu Yue put on a tough front but was all bark and no bite, "If you keep this up, I'm going back to the Jiang family."
Shen Que shot her a long, hard look, then stood up to make breakfast.
Wu Yue stayed where she was, waiting for her feelings to calm down, and couldn't help but glance at Shen Que.
Shen Que had just started cooking the porridge and was focused on frying eggs, head down.
Wu Yue hesitated for a second, thinking maybe she'd overreacted.
She walked over to Shen Que, leaned in, and got right up in his face. "Are you mad?"
Shen Que gently pushed her head away with one hand. "Back up, you'll get splattered with oil."
Wu Yue leaned in again. "Really mad? You won't even look at me."
Shen Que turned off the stove, yanked off his apron, dragged Wu Yue into his arms, and started kissing her.
Flushed from his intense kissing, Wu Yue whispered, "Let me go."
Shen Que refused. "You wouldn't let me kiss you earlier, and now you come to me yourself. If I let you go now, I'd be a freaking saint."
Wu Yue kept pushing at Shen Que, trying to wrestle her hands free.
Shen Que was still upset about her threat to leave, and now that she had come to him on her own, he meant business.
By the time Shen Que pinned Wu Yue against the dining table, she was still totally spaced out.
Shen Que’s hands rested on the table on either side of her, forcing Wu Yue to lean back as he closed in on her.
His low, rough breath whispered in her ear. "You're not allowed to go back to the Jiang family. You can only be with me. You're not going anywhere."
Losing her balance, Wu Yue instinctively threw her arms around Shen Que’s neck to steady herself.
Shen Que held the small of her back with one hand, crushing her tightly against him until there was no space left between them.
Wu Yue said, "I only said that because you tried to take my dress off the second we woke up. I’m not leaving."
Shen Que immediately pulled down the zipper at the back of her waist. Wu Yue felt his burning palm and the cool touch of his fingertips.
Her face flushed instantly. "Shen Que, you said before that you weren't some horny guy."
Shen Que nodded. "Right. If it weren’t for you, I could’ve cultivated a celibate path my whole life."
"But you’re the one who broke my discipline. You got me all worked up, so you have to take responsibility."
Wu Yue gritted her teeth. "It was you who saw me naked first! I never made you take responsibility!"
Shen Que’s voice was muffled. "I am taking responsibility. I’ve always taken responsibility. I begged you to take responsibility—it’s you who always wants to run."
Wu Yue felt wronged. "You didn’t. You were giving me the silent treatment back then. You avoided me and let me misunderstand everything."
"Shen Que, you wimped out first. How could you even ask me how I felt about you going on blind dates back then?"
"When rumors spread that someone was trying to poach me, why'd you show up like that? If you didn’t want to drag me down, you should've just cut me loose—"
Shen Que suddenly stopped everything. He lifted his head and locked eyes with Wu Yue. "You can’t leave. You’re not going anywhere. I'm not letting you go."
Back then, torn between his wildly growing love, his burning desire for Wu Yue, and his sense of duty, he was going out of his mind.
He had thought countless times, as long as Wu Yue asked about the treatment, even just one word, he’d admit it—he’d confess everything.
But he waited so long at the base; they lived right across from each other, and Wu Yue never brought it up from start to finish.
Wu Yue and Shen Que exchanged a silent look. She looked away, her face flushed, and whispered softly, "I'm not leaving."
Shen Que lowered his head and zipped up her dress, then pulled Wu Yue into his arms.
"My bad. We’ll take it slow. I’ll make up for everything we missed out on."
Wu Yue, "Mhm."
Shen Que held her quietly for a while, then turned and set breakfast down in front of her.
Wu Yue ate with her head down, couldn’t help smiling a little, smug and secretly pleased.
Shen Que glanced at her, "Trying out new moves to mess with me now, huh?"
Wu Yue looked up, innocent and puzzled, "What do you mean?"
Shen Que reached out to touch Wu Yue's ear, "Let me see how fighting an S4 left you hard of hearing. I'll fix it for you."
Wu Yue laughed and kept dodging. At first, Shen Que was just teasing her, but after touching her earlobe twice, his touch grew lingering and odd again.
Wu Yue shot him a nervous glance. Shen Que withdrew his hand, lowered his head, and continued eating.
Wu Yue felt she was being kinda difficult herself. When Shen Que was acting all well-behaved, she felt a little empty.
She kept staring at Shen Que, who ate slowly and deliberately wasn't taking the bait.
Wu Yue felt frustrated. What was this? He had clearly said before that as long as she dangled the hook, he would immediately take the bait!
Wu Yue informed him, "I'm done eating."
Shen Que nodded, "Finished? Then you can go."
Wu Yue looked at him, "I'm leaving."
Shen Que pressed his lips together to hide a smile, "Go ahead."
Wu Yue's voice took on a warning edge, "I'm really leaving."
Who was it that had her in a death grip just now, like he was gonna squeeze the life out of her, insisting she couldn't leave?!
Shen Que couldn't help but smirk. He stretched out his slender fingers and tapped the table idly, his eyes fixed intently on Wu Yue.
"Wu Yue, if you want to date, I’m game. However you want to do it, as long as you like it.
But listen carefully: dating and sleeping together never had to be separate. Besides, you're already my wife, and we've long since slept together.
I'm cutting you some slack now because you're not in good health. I'm afraid I might hurt you.
When you're better, no matter what game you’re playing, none of them will work. Understood?"
Wu Yue abruptly stood up, her face flushed, and turned to leave.
Shen Que stood up and grabbed her wrist. Wu Yue didn't dare look back.
Shen Que's eyes remained fixed on her.
"Baby, if you want it, I'll give it to you—"
...
"Bang!!"
Watching Wu Yue, red all over, bolt without a word, Shen Que couldn't help but burst into laughter.
