Chapter 513: Wu Yue Returns to Blaze Base for Recovery - Shen Que Regains Memory Alternate Ending (Final)

Shen Que had just arrived at the training ground when Jiang Mubai immediately called out to him.

Tilting his head toward the training room, Jiang Mubai said, "Come on, let's spar."

Shen Que was already seething with pent-up aggression and walked straight over.

Seeing the two of them in a tense stance of murderous intensity, the recruits standing at attention nearby couldn't help but sneak glances. Their eyes were practically popping out.

Even on the third day of training when everyone was in their most drained state, it was as if they had been injected with a shot of adrenaline, and they were absolutely electrified.

Nearby, Jiang Yuhua and Jian Suiyu exchanged glances.

Jiang Yuhua asked, "Will this be okay?"

Jian Suiyu replied, "Don't worry, Shen Que knows how to hold back."

Shen Que had perfect judgment on how much force to use against different opponents.

Still uneasy after observing their postures, Jiang Yuhua tipped off Wu Yue.

Mu Bai was the most cherished young master of the family—they couldn't let anything happen to him.

This wasn't the first time Jiang Mubai and Shen Que had crossed paths. Jiang Huaizhi hadn't even signed up for the Alliance individual competition.

After all, Jiang Cheng would undoubtedly take first place in the final strength rankings, and since every family was hiding their true capabilities, he might as well just participate for a ranking.

However, Jiang Mubai was still a top heir of the Jiang family. Even if he was just participating for show, he had to achieve a respectable ranking. When he encountered Shen Que in the round-of-16, Jiang Mubai initially didn't take it seriously.

Didn't the Jiang family know all about Shen Que's background and capabilities? The Jiang family was rolling in money and influence, and they usually avoided competing with civilian-run teams for resources in Alliance competitions whenever possible—they had vast assets and didn't need those small advantages.

But Shen Que had struck so ruthlessly, clearly showing no respect for the Jiang family or Sirius. Even though he understood that Shen Que needed to carry Blaze's banner and not let anyone look down on them, Jiang Mubai was getting fired up.

Back and forth they went, their strikes growing heavier, both going all out to crush each other.

And at the most shocking moment, Jiang Mubai actually lost to Shen Que! He was kicked off the platform with two broken ribs!

Seriously! He was still the young master of the Jiang family!

He had his pride! This was utterly humiliating!

Ever since his defeat, his uncle had subjected him to a daily brutal beating routine.

Saying it was to toughen him up—what was wrong with his character?!

He was the one getting beaten! Why didn't anyone feel sorry for him or comfort him?!

He must have been adopted! He must have been adopted!

Growing angrier the more he thought about it, Jiang Mubai threw the first punch at Shen Que.

Shen Que easily blocked it and countered with a flying kick—the exact same move and position he had used to break Jiang Mubai's ribs before.

Dodging nimbly, Jiang Mubai looked at Shen Que again, his eyes now carrying a deadly serious glint.

Shen Que remarked, "You're much faster than before."

Jiang Mubai sneered, "Shen Que, quit recycling the same old moves. Who do you think you're looking down on? Show me something real."

Shen Que's eyes turned cold as he instantly leaped up, drove his knee hard into Jiang Mubai's chest with a devastating force that made the surrounding recruits gasp in shock.

Jiang Mubai quickly stepped back to block, but still took the brunt of Shen Que's explosive move, spitting out a mouthful of blood.

Without giving Jiang Mubai any time to react, Shen Que pivoted into a high roundhouse kick aimed directly at Jiang Mubai's temple—a legit kill move. If it had landed squarely, given Shen Que's leg strength, it would have been fatal.

Jiang Mubai immediately cranked his arm up to guard his ear, then seized the moment Shen Que was off-balance to leap up and came down with a crushing elbow strike, aiming for Shen Que's carotid.

A direct hit would have instantly broken his neck and killed him.

Shen Que jerked his head aside with an unnatural, fluid dodge, then quickly swarmed in with rapid-fire punches, engaging in close combat.

Parrying jabs, slipping uppercuts, elbows and knees cracking together—the two fought relentlessly, every shot landing with brutal force, leaving the recruits watching breathlessly.

They moved so fast they blurred, and one had to constantly refocus just to track them.

Sent flying once again by a kick from Shen Que, Jiang Mubai spat blood and gasped heavily, glaring daggers at him.

Shen Que tilted his head. "Still fighting?"

Jiang Mubai clenched his fists and charged forward. "Fight!"

Jiang Yuhua nervously tugged at Jian Suiyu. "Is Shen Que really pulling his punches? It feels like he’s even rougher than Uncle!"

Having watched up to this point, even Jian Suiyu was a bit uncertain about Shen Que's kill shots. "...Well, he knows what he’s doing." Probably.

Jiang Yuhua asked, "Who taught Shen Que how to fight like that?"

Jian Suiyu replied flatly, "No one taught him. He learned by taking beatings.

He survived through raw grit, betting his life and blood."

That’s why Wu Yue couldn’t bear to see him bullied. If not for fear of causing conflict between the two, Wu Yue might have tried to keep Shen Que in the dark and handle things alone.

But Wu Yue’s health had deteriorated severely and couldn’t be delayed any longer—otherwise, Jian Suiyu wouldn’t have wanted Shen Que to come to the Jiang family at this time.

Jiang Yuhua fell silent for a moment. "I’ll go stop them."

Jian Suiyu laughed. "No need. They’ve had bad blood before. Men solve things in men’s ways."

It’s no big deal—just pound the other into submission. Shen Que is good at handling this kind of situation.

Besides, the Jiang family was building Shen Que up, and Shen Que needed to earn his respect back in his own way.

Jiang Yuhua said, "To be honest, I was afraid Shen Que might give up halfway and walk away."

Jian Suiyu chuckled. "He won’t. He treasures Wu Yue above his own life. Even if he lost his memories, as long as the feelings remain, Shen Que can bend without breaking—he’ll endure anything.

Shen Que has had enough of running. He wants a home, and Wu Yue gives him her whole heart. Even without memories, the facts are clear—Shen Que knows what’s important."

At this, Jiang Yuhua grew irritated. "Then why was he acting up in the first place?"

Jian Suiyu sighed. "...He probably just wanted Wu Yue to come find him. He wanted her to give him an out, to save face.

Just like last time when he lost his emotions and threatened to move out—it was the same tough act. But Wu Yue’s words alone were enough to tame him.

This time, though, Wu Yue’s own condition worsened, so things went sideways.

He’s been scared shitless, glued to her side."

While speaking, Wu Yue walked into the Sirius training grounds and approached Jian Suiyu and Jiang Yuhua.

The moment Wu Yue appeared, Shen Que's gaze immediately fell on her, and his distraction allowed Jiang Mubai to land a solid punch.

Jiang Mubai gritted his teeth, "Shen Que! What the hell are you looking at?!" How dare he zone out when we’re going at it like this?! Who does he think he’s looking down on?!

Shen Que spat out blood, looking completely unapologetic, "Looking at my wife."

Already frustrated from losing, being force-fed dog food right in the face—a critical hit to a single dog—made him even angrier!!

Wu Yue, "What's the situation now?"

Jiang Yuhua, "Mu Bai can't beat Shen Que. He's being completely dominated and is about to lose his mind."

Wu Yue expressed a bit of sympathy, "Third Brother is so pitiful."

Jian Suiyu, "You weren’t exactly easy on him either..."

Wu Yue blinked, "I'm caught in the middle too, it's tough. Brother-in-law, you should understand."

Jian Suiyu, "Not like the days when you cried all the time."

Wu Yue, flushed with anger, "Sis! Say something!"

Jiang Yuhua spread her hands, "I'm stuck in the middle too, it's tough. Baby Sis, you should understand."

Wu Yue, "..." Fine, fine! Now that you have a husband, you don’t care about me anymore!

Jian Suiyu, that sly fox who always stirs up trouble! How dare he try to shake her position!

Shen Que has excellent hearing and stopped moving when he heard Wu Yue being bullied by these two.

Shen Que, "I'm done fighting." He was going to have his wife's back.

Jiang Mubai was so angry he could pass out, "Shen Que! Are you fucking humiliating me?!"

Shen Que, "...Are you okay? You’ve been pushing your luck with me and I haven’t said a word. We were just sparring normally—how is that humiliating? Are you really that petty?"

Jiang Mubai was incredulous, "I’m petty? I was standing up for Baby Sis, and now it’s my fault?!"

Shen Que, "You’ve vented your anger and fought it out. That should be enough."

What did he mean, "vented your anger and fought it out"? It was Wu Yue’s anger that was vented, but he was the one getting beaten!! He lost so much face in front of the recruits—so he’s just the unlucky one caught in the middle?!

Watching Shen Que about to walk away, Jiang Mubai flew into a rage and charged forward with a punch, "Shen Que, don’t go too far!"

What the hell was with that dismissive tone, as if he was the one being clingy?!

Shen Que turned to look at him and made a blocking gesture. Jiang Mubai, putting all his strength into it, didn’t hold back at all.

Under the astonished gazes of everyone, with a "thud," Shen Que pulled his punch at the last second. Jiang Mubai’s full-force strike landed directly on Shen Que’s cheekbone, instantly knocking his face to the side and making him spit out blood.

Just then, Jiang Huaizhi and Jiang Qian, who had brought Jiang Li and Jiang Ling to observe the training, froze on the spot. The room fell completely silent.

Jiang Ling and Jiang Li exchanged a glance, then turned and left.

The younger generation’s business should be handled by the younger generation. If they stayed, everyone would be too restrained to act freely.

Jiang Mubai, seeing Jiang Ling and Jiang Li turn and leave, flushed crimson and instantly snapped, "Shen Que, what do you mean by this? Are you disrespecting me?"

Shen Que wiped off the blood with the back of his hand, "You're just upset about being humiliated in the previous solo match and again today. It's no big deal. If you want your pride back, I'll give it to you."

Jiang Mubai, furious and completely losing his usual cool composure, snapped, "Do I need to get my pride back like this?!"

Shen Que retorted, "Jiang Mubai, how old are you? Stop acting like a clingy baby who's still nursing.

Without Jiang Huaizhi here to hold down the fort, you’re like a ship without a rudder.

Jiang Qian is an idiot, and Jiang Yuhua isn’t a fighter. If you can’t stand on your own, are you really counting on a son-in-law to represent Sirius?

Losing a fight isn’t shameful—winning is winning, losing is losing.

If you lose, you admit it. If you’re not good enough, practice more. Bitching and moaning after a loss is what truly makes people look down on you."

Jiang Mubai’s eyes darted wildly as he stared at Shen Que, his chest heaving violently.

Shen Que continued, "If you’re still angry, go train harder and come back to get your revenge.

But, Third Brother-in-Law, fight if you must—just don’t take it so personally. We’re all family. It’s not worth it."

With that, Shen Que ignored Jiang Mubai and turned to walk toward Wu Yue.

When he reached Wu Yue, he looked down at her. She reached out tenderly to touch his swollen, reddened, bruised, and bleeding cheek.

Shen Que took her hand and kissed the back of it, "I’m fine, it’s just a minor injury.

Go check on your third brother. He stood up for you and lost a lot of face. Don’t let this affect your sibling bond."

Wu Yue gently stroked Shen Que’s face and whispered, "I’ll take care of you later."

    Shen Que replied, "Yeah."

As Wu Yue walked over and pulled Jiang Mubai aside, Jiang Yuhua, Jiang Qian, and Jiang Huaizhi all gathered around him, encircling him and fussing over him.

"Our Mu Bai has grown up now, such a man!

I’m so proud as your sister. In the future, Sirius will rely on Mu Bai to hold the fort."

"Third Brother, you’re amazing! I’ll still need you to protect me and stand up for me~"

"Our Mu Bai isn’t petty at all—he’d never take these things to heart~"

"Exactly! Third Brother is clearly magnanimous! And so loyal! Protecting his sister!"

"Mu Bai is all grown up now. Even if I’m not around, he can handle Sirius’s affairs. I can focus on other things with peace of mind."

Jiang Mubai, who had been holding a stiff expression, finally couldn’t suppress a smile after being surrounded and comforted.

Only Jiang Qian pointed at himself and asked, "Why am I the idiot?"

Everyone looked at him and broke out laughing.

After Jiang Yuhua finished patching up Jiang Mubai, he gestured toward Shen Que. With an uncomfortable expression, Jiang Mubai walked over to Shen Que.

Just as Jiang Mubai was about to speak, Shen Que said, "Your legs aren't strong enough—add more strength training. But I’m sure your father-in-law has already told you this.

Everyone has weaknesses; it’s completely normal. There’s no need to dwell on it."

Working on your weaknesses, your reaction speed is much faster than before, and your punches are a lot stronger too.

"After that time, you've put a lot of effort into training. If I hadn't activated the Full Dragon Bone, I would be no match for you."

Jiang Mubai suppressed a smile. "Mm."

Shen Que asked, "Still training this afternoon?"

    Jiang Mubai replied, "Yes!"

Shen Que said, "Then let's begin."

Seeing Shen Que start training despite his injuries, completely ignoring the wounds on his face, Jiang Qian hurried over.

"Brother-in-law, let me fix you up!"

Hearing "fix you up," Wu Yue couldn't help but laugh.

Shen Que gave her a blank look, and Wu Yue blinked at him with a grin.

Jiang Huaizhi walked over to Jian Suiyu. "The Captain of the Alliance's top team really has some skills."

If it weren't for Blaze having no intention of trying to recruit from other teams, even Jiang Mubai himself might have been recruited by Shen Que to join today, along with the other Recruits.

His innate charisma as a leader is undeniable. Now, all the Recruits, including Jiang Mubai and Jiang Qian, see Shen Que differently.

In this situation, despite being at a major disadvantage, Shen Que turned the tide completely. Both older brothers are now his admirers.

Jian Suiyu said, "Brother-in-law, I've already prepared and sent you the initial evaluations of the Recruits. Take a look when you have time. If you have any questions about any Recruit, feel free to ask me. I have detailed conversation records."

    Jiang Huaizhi replied, "...Alright."

Not only is Jiang Mubai feeling pretty pleased from Shen Que's praise, even Jiang Huaizhi, who has never enjoyed such a hands-off leadership treatment, is riding high.

Wu Yue and Jiang Yuhua exchanged a glance and said simultaneously:

"So when looking for a partner, you should find someone who is sharp and capable—it makes life easier!"

Seeing the conflict resolved and the training entering its second half, Wu Yue returned to her room to rest.

By the time she was sleepily gathered into Shen Que's arms, it was already dark outside.

Wu Yue instinctively held Shen Que tightly. "Husband."

Shen Que smirked. "Mm, wife, time to get up and eat."

Wu Yue leaned on Shen Que's shoulder and drifted off again for a bit before suddenly realizing something and looking at him.

He's lost his memory—this person has lost his memory. His memory only goes up to the end of the World Boss fight!

Just as Wu Yue was flustered and trying to climb out of Shen Que's arms, he held her down on the bed. "Wife, you said you'd make it up to me when we got back."

Wu Yue looked up at him, and Shen Que instantly leaned in close. Their eyes met, their breaths mingling, inches apart.

Wu Yue blinked. "Captain, this isn't appropriate."

Shen Que gave a low laugh. "What's not appropriate about it?"

Wu Yue pushed him. "You haven't regained your memory yet. You need to keep a professional distance as teammates."

Shen Que grabbed Wu Yue's hand and looped it around his neck, "Hmm, what if I don't want to?"

Wu Yue's face flushed red, "Then I'll scream."

Shen Que's hand had already slipped into Wu Yue's pajamas, finding nothing beneath them, he immediately grew bolder.

He let out a light laugh, "Then call out louder, I love hearing it."

Shen Que buried his head in Wu Yue's neck, leaving fiery kisses. Wu Yue held his head, her eyes growing hazy with desire.

Shen Que, "Were you waiting for me, did you go without anything on purpose?"

Wu Yue felt embarrassed, "Stop making things up, I wasn’t! I was just sleeping normally!"

Shen Que, "Exactly, you were waiting for me."

Shen Que's slender fingers went straight to their destination, finding their way. He scoffed lightly, "You’re all ready for me."

Wu Yue got angry, "Stop talking!"

He never filters a word he says!

Shen Que leaned close to Wu Yue's ear, covering her ear in light kisses, "Is this enough, baby?"

Wu Yue shook her head, "Not enough."

Shen Que let out a low groan, fighting for control, "How much longer?"

Being able to see and touch but not have her was absolute torture!

Wu Yue teased, "Another month or two."

Shen Que let out a long breath, his bangs blowing wildly.

Wu Yue turned her face away, smirking to herself, her whole body trembling with amusement.

Shen Que bit her neck angrily, "Are you deliberately trying to provoke me? You clearly said you were willing, and now you’re teasing me, driving me crazy."

Wu Yue looked innocent, "I’m not! That’s what the therapist said—I need to rest and recover carefully for a month or two before I can do any physical training."

Shen Que lifted himself up, looking down at her with an unwavering gaze. Seeing Shen Que’s cold, intense, predatory gaze, Wu Yue felt somewhat shy.

Wu Yue, "Don’t keep looking at me like that."

Shen Que, "Baby, back at the base, I thought just being able to see you was enough to make me happy and satisfied. I never dared to imagine that one day I could be this close to you, holding you, kissing you, looking at you."

Lying there in her bed, his hands able to reach wherever he desired, the two intimately connected, pressed together with no space between them.

Wu Yue reached out and touched Shen Que’s face, her fingertips tracing over his light green eyes as he gazed at her deeply.

She cupped Shen Que’s face, "Shen Que, if you want me, take me.

As long as it’s you, I’m willing."

Shen Que’s breathing instantly became rapid, his heart pounding as if about to leap out of his throat, his eyes dilating wildly, his entire body reaching the peak of excitement.

Shen Que held Wu Yue tightly, every ragged breath hot against her ear.

Shen Que, "Wu Yue, do you love me?"

    Wu Yue, "I love you."

Shen Que felt so exhilarated that even the crown of his head was tingling. Just holding Wu Yue like this, doing nothing but listening to her say she was willing and that she loved him, was enough to make his mind go completely blank.

Shen Que pressed reverent kisses onto Wu Yue’s cheek and the corner of her lips, whispered, "I’m too excited right now. I’m afraid I might hurt you."

"No rush, baby. Let's wait until you’re ready. There’s no hurry."

Wu Yue's lips curved upward. "Mm."

She held Shen Que tightly, letting him bury his face in her chest.

Taking in Wu Yue’s scent, Shen Que was utterly enchanted, lost in intoxication.

The two of them held each other quietly like this, feeling each other’s burning warmth and love. The very air grew thick and sweet, filled with an intoxicating sweetness.

Shen Que asked, "Should we get up and eat?"

    Wu Yue replied, "Mm."

Shen Que said with suggestion, "After we eat, let’s take a walk in the garden."

Wu Yue suppressed a laugh. "Mm."

Shen Que leaned close to Wu Yue’s ear, his voice cool. "Wu Yue, I can keep my hands off you for now."

"If you want to take things slow with me, I’ll take things slow with you."

"But aside from sleeping together, don't try to stop me from anything else."

"If you resist, I’ll take it as you wanting me to be forceful. Don’t blame me later if I’m rough and hurt you."

Wu Yue looked at Shen Que with a shifting gaze, her breathing growing heavier.

Shen Que chuckled lightly. "You started this game—you have to see it through. Don’t lose your resolve."

Did she think he didn’t know? Wu Yue clearly wanted him too. Several times, she had nearly lost her resolve.

Wu Yue just felt that since he hadn’t regained his memories for long, their feelings weren't quite there yet. If they slept together now, it wouldn't feel right spiritually. She wanted to spend a little more time together first.

Fine by him—he wanted that too. He’d wait until the time was right, until it happened naturally, willingly, and seamlessly.

Shen Que pulled Wu Yue up and helped straighten her clothes.

He lowered his head. "If you keep looking at me like that, I’ll get started right here and now."

Wu Yue immediately averted her gaze. "..." What a severe test this was for her—Shen Que was exactly her type now!

Unable to help herself, Wu Yue sneaked another look, only to have Shen Que take hold of her neck.

Shen Que asked her, "What do you like most about me?"

Wu Yue replied, "...You, just like this."

Shen Que couldn’t help but smile, kissing Wu Yue once before scooping her into his arms.

The butler brought the meal directly to the living room, and the two ate together in Wu Yue’s small dining area.

The entire meal was full of lingering touches, Shen Que’s gaze constantly returning to Wu Yue.

Wu Yue couldn't even lift her head under Shen Que's intense gaze. Ever since she and Shen Que reached S4 intimacy, they had been attached at the hip. Shen Que had learned to control his urges around her, and only when passion overwhelmed them would he look at her with such intensity.

But now, influenced by his memories and driven by a strong obsession, Shen Que was constantly staring at her with that same hungry stare.

Wu Yue glared at him, "Dial it back a bit!"

Shen Que replied leisurely, "Why should I? Aren't we dating? Is there a problem with me looking at my partner like this?"

Wu Yue lowered her head, forcing back a smile.

Shen Que kept his eyes fixed on Wu Yue, "Do you like me like this?"

Wu Yue's face flushed bright red, and she gave a barely perceptible nod.

Shen Que, "..." If only you had said so earlier! We could've gotten together way sooner!

But thinking back to how he wasn't in control at the time, Shen Que pulled Wu Yue into his arms.

Seeing Shen Que's face fall, Wu Yue hooked her arms around his neck, sat sideways in front of him, and gently touched his face, "What's wrong?"

Shen Que, "I just want to hold you, Wu Yue. Let's start fresh. I'll make everything up to you."

Wu Yue pressed her lips together and nodded, "Mm."

Less than half an hour after Shen Que lovingly declared they would start fresh...

Wu Yue was pressed against Xiao Hua's artificial rockery, kissed senseless...

After the meal, Shen Que immediately took Wu Yue's hand and headed to the garden. The sky was growing dark, and the lights were dimming.

This was Wu Yue's own residence, private and out-of-the-way, with no one around.

Shen Que's seemingly casual glances toward Wu Yue gradually made her feel on edge.

Wu Yue insisted, "Don't forget, you said we'd take it slow!"

Shen Que corrected her, "I said we'd start fresh, not take it slow."

Wu Yue, "...Captain, it's just a man and a woman alone here. Calm down a little."

Shen Que glanced at her sideways, his gaze meaningful, "What if I don't calm down?"

Wu Yue pulled her hand away from Shen Que's, "Then I'm leaving!"

Shen Que fought back a grin, wrapped his arms around Wu Yue from behind, and led her toward the rockery.

Wu Yue struggled continuously, "Let me go! There are surveillance cameras here!"

Carrying her directly into the surveillance blind spot behind the rockery, Shen Que cupped the back of Wu Yue's head with his hand, closed in on her, and kissed her deeply, demanding more with each kiss.

A soft moan escaped Wu Yue's throat, "Let me go, the rocks are digging into me."

Shen Que immediately turned around, swapped places with Wu Yue, lifting her up so she could wrap her arms around his neck.

A trail of kisses moved down her neck, and Wu Yue tangled her fingers in Shen Que's hair, unable to resist pulling him closer.

Shen Que let out a contented sigh. Wu Yue, her face flushed, tried to push him away, "Let me go."

Shen Que tightened his grip around her waist, "If you keep resisting, I might have to get rough."

Wu Yue kept her head down. "You can't do this."

Shen Que’s hands roamed over her clothes. "Why can’t I? What am I doing wrong? What's wrong with touching my own wife?"

Wu Yue swept a meaningful glance at him, and Shen Que’s breathing immediately grew heavier.

He pulled Wu Yue’s hand closer to him, his tone coaxing. "Wife, help me."

Wu Yue shook her head, but Shen Que immediately pleaded, "I got beat up today. You said you’d comfort me."

Wu Yue struggled to pull her hand back. "I’ve been comforting you since you got back."

Shen Que refused to accept that. "That doesn’t count. Those were just basic comforts."

With that, Shen Que began pestering her nonstop.

Wu Yue, driven crazy by his pestering, glared at him. "Come with me."

After saying that, she walked behind the rockery.

Shen Que's eyes lit up as he followed.

Shen Que: "Wife, I want to see."

    Shen Que: "Is it here?"

Shen Que: "Wife, you’re so beautiful."

    ...

    A while later,

Wu Yue came rushing out, face flushed, and Shen Que made a grab for her. "Wife, wait for me."

Wu Yue pushed him away. "Stop bothering me!"

Shen Que: "Let me see if you're hurt."

Too angry to respond, Wu Yue turned to leave. Shen Que tried to follow, but she glared at him. "Don't follow me!!"

Afraid of pushing her too far and getting kicked out, Shen Que watched as Wu Yue ran back to the villa. Faintly, he heard a "bang" as the door slammed shut.

After three days of waiting, Shen Que was finally satisfied, looking dazed and enchanted, a smug smile he couldn't suppress hanging on his lips.

Even by the next morning training, Shen Que remained in an exceptionally good mood.

Seeing him radiating like he'd been reborn, his attitude was even unbelievably pleasant.

Jian Suiyu could barely look at him. "...You should tone it down a little. You promised your uncle you’d sleep in separate rooms from Wu Yue."

Shen Que looked puzzled. "We are sleeping in separate rooms."

After the rockery, he had let Wu Yue go back to her room to rest early. He'd only sent her a few texts, that’s all. He hadn’t done anything.

    ...

"Shen Que: Wife, I miss you."

"Shen Que: That thing you did for me earlier felt amazing."

"Wu Yue: Don’t say another word!"

"Shen Que: Let’s do that every day from now on."

    "Wu Yue: I'm not going!"

"Shen Que: Don't make me mad, or I'll climb through your window right now and do something illegal."

Wu Yue, "..." Ahhhh!! How can there be such a shameless jerk, she thought, ahhhh!!

Wu Yue glanced at this embarrassing chat history, trembling as she put away the communicator and began today's physical therapy.

After the morning treatment, Jiang Yuhua hooked arms with Wu Yue, "Let's go, we'll have lunch with Sui Yu, Qian, Mu Bai, and Shen Que."

Wu Yue thought for a moment, then nodded firmly, "Okay."

That's one perk of a big family—there are plenty of people, no need for pretense!

From now on, she's going to have every meal with everyone!!

When Wu Yue and Jiang Yuhua appeared, the morning training had just ended. Jiang Yuhua called over to them, "Good work, let's go, we'll all eat together."

Shen Que was giving some final training instructions, and by the time he caught up with the group, he saw Wu Yue walking at the front with a determined look, striding ahead without glancing sideways.

Shen Que pursed his lips and silently followed behind.

When they reached the dining hall and everyone took their seats, Wu Yue unhesitatingly sat between Jiang Yuhua and Jiang Qian.

Shen Que's good mood from the entire morning, from this point on, turned from sunny to cloudy and gloomy.

After finishing the meal, Wu Yue got up to go to the restroom. The moment she left, Shen Que stood up and followed.

The four people left at the table exchanged looks.

    Jiang Mubai, "Go?"

    Jian Suiyu, "Go!"

In an instant, whoosh—the dining table was empty.

Wu Yue was washing her hands with her head down when she suddenly heard the sound of the door opening behind her.

Just as she turned her head, Shen Que pinned her against the sink counter.

With his hands planted on either side of Wu Yue against the sink, Shen Que narrowed his eyes dangerously and leaned in close.

Shen Que said with a sneer, "You're avoiding me, aren't you?"

Wu Yue, "...I'm not," she protested.

Shen Que, "Then why didn't you sit next to me at lunch? Why didn't you wait to leave with me just now?"

Wu Yue, "Is that so strange? We never used to... ah..."

In an instant, Shen Que wrapped an arm around Wu Yue's waist, lowered his head, and kissed her earlobe. He looked up at the mirror above the sink, watching as Wu Yue's ears and neck flushed under the light.

Shen Que chuckled softly, "We never used to what? Go on, Wu Yue."

Wu Yue, tough on the outside but soft inside, "...We never used to eat together or leave together, right?"

Wu Yue was wearing a dress today. Shen Que directly unzipped her dress, gazing at her smooth, glowing fair skin reflected in the mirror. He reached out to remove the obstruction, and upon seeing the smooth expanse of her back, Shen Que smirked in satisfaction, his hand immediately sliding inside.

Wu Yue felt her bra loosen, her face instantly flushing bright red. She raised both hands to cover her chest and glared at Shen Que, "What do you think you're doing! There are people outside who can hear us!"

Shen Que snorted, "The moment I followed you, they all ran off.

They're afraid of seeing things they shouldn't see, hearing things they shouldn't hear—and getting killed by me."

Wu Yue thought, "..." Come on... We’re all family here, how could they have so little nerve?!

Don’t back down!! What are you afraid of!! With so many of them, couldn’t they take on one Shen Que?!

Wu Yue clenched her jaw, "Shen Que, stop being unreasonable!"

Shen Que let out a disbelieving laugh, "I’m being unreasonable? You’re the one avoiding me, and now I’m unreasonable?"

Wu Yue, "It’s all because you never know when to keep your mouth shut!"

Shen Que scoffed, "You clearly like it when I’m like this."

"I do not!" Wu Yue snapped.

Shen Que lifted Wu Yue with one arm and hoisted her onto the counter, pressing himself against the edge as his hand wandered further.

He withdrew his hand and held his slender fingers in front of Wu Yue.

    "Say that again."

At this, Wu Yue turned completely red.

Shen Que narrowed his eyes, watching Wu Yue’s flushed reflection in the mirror, his eyes darkening.

Wu Yue placed her hands on Shen Que’s chest, trying to push him away.

Wu Yue, "Captain, it’s the middle of the day... ah..."

Shen Que tightened his arm, pulling Wu Yue firmly against him until there was no space left between them.

His voice dropped beside her ear, "If you don’t want me to keep going, say something I’d like to hear. Do that, and I’ll cut you some slack for now."

Wu Yue immediately gave in, "Okay, husband, I was wrong."

Shen Que turned his face away, suppressing a smile, and began helping Wu Yue get dressed.

Wu Yue shot him a wary, distrustful look and tried to push his hands away to dress herself.

Shen Que grabbed both her wrists with one hand, leaned in close, and said slowly,

"Either I help you, or I keep going. Your choice."

Wu Yue silently released her hands, resting them on the counter, her face flushed as she watched Shen Que fix her clothes.

This time, his hands were surprisingly proper—focused solely on dressing her, without wandering.

He told Wu Yue, slowly and deliberately: "Back then, if I had any other choice, I wouldn’t have acted like such a coward—pretending nothing happened after what I did to you.

Wu Yue, back then you could laugh and eat with anyone, anyone but me.

Do you have any idea how much it tore me up inside, every single time I saw that?

Wu Yue, you’ll never understand how deep my obsession runs for you."

Wu Yue let out a long breath, drew Shen Que into her arms, and gently stroked his hair as she whispered:

"I know, baby, I know how hung up on me you are—I've experienced it myself."

"I was wrong, don't be mad, okay?"

"It won't happen again, I won’t hide from you anymore."

God knows how thrilled Shen Que was when Wu Yue responded with such indulgence after he said those words.

Shen Que held Wu Yue tightly. "Can you baby me a little?"

Wu Yue blushed. "You can’t always think about bullying me or getting fresh with me."

Shen Que leaned close to her ear. "Then take advantage of me instead."

Wu Yue gave him a look and, under Shen Que’s eager, happy eyes, slid her hand under his shirt and stroked his abs.

Her fingers traced down his abs and V-line, and Shen Que’s eyes instantly glazed over with desire.

Shen Que held her close, his breath ragged, his voice husky and seductive by her ear,

"A top-tier shuttle operator—your hand speed is truly extraordinary."

Wu Yue turned bright red. "You’re so dirty."

Shen Que gave a soft laugh. "Yeah, I am."

As her mind went blank and her body trembled, Shen Que held Wu Yue tightly in his arms.

    ...

Wu Yue and Shen Que came out of the bathroom one after the other, Shen Que walking leisurely behind her with his hands in his pockets.

Shen Que asked, "Where are you off to, Second Miss?"

Wu Yue replied, "Not your concern."

Shen Que insisted, "Well now it is."

He walked over and wrapped an arm around her. "Are you going for therapy? I’ll take you."

Wu Yue said, "But you have training this afternoon."

Shen Que shrugged. "I can spare a few minutes."

Wu Yue pushed him. "Go ahead, training comes first."

Seeing his reluctance, Wu Yue hooked her arms around his neck, stood on her toes, and kissed him. "I’ll come find you after my treatment and watch you train, okay?"

Shen Que grinned, holding her close as he looked down at her. "Alright."

Just as Wu Yue started to pull away, Shen Que leaned in and kissed her again, not letting go until she was flushed and breathless.

Watching Shen Que arrive right at the last minute, his mood clearly lifted again.

Jiang Mubai remarked, "I feel like I’m just part of their play."

And to think he had so sincerely stood up for Wu Yue and scolded Shen Que earlier—what a fool he’d been!

Jian Suiyu said, "You’ll get used to it. These two are inseparable. Whether it’s amnesia or losing their feelings, they just end up finding their way back to each other."

Shen Que had just walked over to them when Jiang Mubai asked curiously,

"Jie fu, what would you do if Mei mei really ran away this time?"

Shen Que, "She won't get away. I monitor the surveillance daily."

    Jiang Mubai fell silent.

Jian Suiyu, "...You're such a creep. Instead of wasting time on surveillance, why don't you go find Wu Yue?"

Shen Que, "I need time to really think about my relationship with her."

Jian Suiyu, "Stop making up excuses. You just want Wu Yue to give you an out."

Shen Que’s composure broke for a moment, and he gritted his teeth, "Shut the hell up."

Jiang Mubai suddenly empathized with Shen Que—he was just seeking validation. So, everyone seeks validation in some way!

He wanted to feel seen by his family, and Shen Que wanted to feel seen by Mei mei.

It has nothing to do with maturity or capability—wanting validation means you care!

After the meal, just as Jiang Mubai was about to leave with his family, Jiang Huaizhi suddenly called out to him,

    "Mu Bai, come here."

Following Jiang Huaizhi into Jiang Ling’s study, Jiang Mubai rubbed his nose awkwardly,

    "Dad."

Jiang Ling stood up and walked over to him, "You're all grown up, yet you still act like a kid."

Jiang Ling patted his head, "Xiao Bai, you’ve gotten so tall."

Jiang Mubai instantly felt flushed with pride.

Jiang Ling, "In the Jiang family, we've always pampered the youngest. We never meant to put pressure on you, but you took it to mean we didn't value you."

Jiang Huaizhi, "This kid’s just acting spoiled to seek attention."

Jiang Mubai's pride vanished, and he started stomping his feet, "I am not!"

Jiang Ling, "He’s sulking over me making him apologize."

Jiang Mubai lowered his head awkwardly, "I’m not."

Jiang Huaizhi, "Maybe he suspects he’s not biologically related and was picked up from a trash can."

Jiang Mubai, exasperated, "I said I’m not! I’m leaving!"

    He’s not that petty!!

    ***

With the conflict resolved, Sirius's top heir and the two captains of Blaze teamed up seamlessly, effortlessly whipping the recruits into shape. Even by the third day of intense training, 80% of recruits remained.

Jiang Huaizhi, "Shen Que, are you really not considering joining the military department?"

With your abilities, you could definitely make a name for yourself in the military.

Now that Vermilion Bird is dead and the Southern General's position is vacant, no one could object to you joining."

Taking advantage of Shen Que's amnesia, Jiang Huaizhi thought he could give persuasion another shot.

As evening wore on, Shen Que's thoughts were elsewhere. He looked serious but was actually just waiting for Wu Yue to come find him.

He brushed him off, "Yeah, I'll think about it."

Jiang Huaizhi, "...Are you even listening to me?"

Jian Suiyu, "Don't bother with him, you're just setting yourself up for disappointment."

    Jiang Huaizhi, "..."

After waiting on pins and needles, Wu Yue and Jiang Yuhua finally arrived together to drop off midnight snacks to the recruits. Shen Que immediately went over and took the box from her hands.

Shen Que, "I've got this. You go sit over there."

While distributing the snacks, Shen Que kept glancing sideways at Wu Yue. Their eyes met, sparking a charged, ambiguous atmosphere.

Jiang Yuhua coughed nearby, "Keep it PG, will you?"

Wu Yue shyly turned her face away, while Shen Que's face fell.

After distributing the snacks and supplies, Wu Yue prepared to leave. Jiang Yuhua called out to Shen Que, "Shen Que, I need to stay and oversee the training. Could you help take these back?"

    Shen Que immediately replied, "Coming."

Shen Que carried all the supplies by himself and followed behind Wu Yue. As Wu Yue led him into the warehouse, the further they went, the more she could feel Shen Que's gaze on her growing more daring.

Playing it cool, she pointed and said, "Just put them there."

After Shen Que set the things down, Wu Yue said, "Appreciate the help, Shen Que. You can go back to training now."

Shen Que stuck his hands in his pockets, walked up to Wu Yue, leaned down to her eye level, and asked, "Is anyone gonna come by?"

Catching his drift, Wu Yue's face instantly turned red. "Of course someone will!"

Shen Que leaned in and kissed her. "Heading out already? Stay here with me for a while, okay?"

Wu Yue lowered her head shyly and nodded. "Mm, okay."

Shen Que turned his face away, fighting a smirk.

Back at the training ground, Wu Yue sat at a distance, watching Shen Que go a few rounds with others.

Jiang Mubai teased, "Big brother, why don't you train with Shen Que?"

If he was going to embarrass himself, he might as well get everyone in on the embarrassment!

Jiang Huaizhi, "...You punk, can't stand to see me do well."

Jiang Mubai called out to Shen Que, "Brother-in-law, come on!"

Shen Que glanced subtly at Wu Yue. "I'm fine with it."

Jian Suiyu warned Jiang Huaizhi, "Be careful. Shen Que is about to strut his stuff."

Jiang Huaizhi, "...Work's already annoying as it is."

Jian Suiyu, "Go ahead and fight. It’ll be a good way to wrap things up. Let’s end a bit early today so everyone can catch their breath."

Shen Que and Jiang Huaizhi took their stances. Shen Que moved instantly, but unlike the brutal, flesh-and-blood lethal moves he used against Jiang Mubai earlier, this time it was purely a flashy sparring session just to blow off steam.

He refused to take a normal step, flipping and spinning everywhere—Shen Que was like a monkey, doing one-handed front flips, backflips, and mid-air aerial spins, as exaggerated as an Ancient Chinese martial arts film. Anyone who didn’t know better would think he’d also worked in a circus troupe.

Jiang Huaizhi, "...I'm just speechless. Never been this exasperated in his life."

Jiang Huaizhi just wanted to call it a day, but Shen Que’s clowning around genuinely pissed him off, making him take the fight more and more seriously.

Wu Yue, resting her chin in her hand, watched as Shen Que got launched with a kick by Jiang Huaizhi and couldn’t help lowering her head to hide a laugh.

Shen Que glared, "We're doing this for real now, huh?" His wife was watching, and he still kicked him!

A vein bulged at Jiang Huaizhi’s temple, "Bring it on!"

The two top fighters of the Alliance’s elite teams going all out got everyone amped up.

The two went at it hard and fast. Jiang Mubai cheered from the sidelines, "Bro! Kick his ass! Show him who runs things on Sirius!"

Wu Yue snapped back, "Third Brother! What are you saying? I haven’t settled the score with you for hitting Shen Que’s face earlier!"

Jiang Mubai immediately teased, "What, getting protective?"

Wu Yue angrily retorted, "Shen Que, teach this punk a lesson again later!"

Shen Que immediately replied, "You got it."

Jiang Mubai complained, "What do you mean 'this guy'? I’m your brother! Now you’re taking their side over family, just like Sister!"

Jiang Yuhua glared, "Hey, no need to drag me into this while you’re at it!"

Jiang Mubai, "Look at you two, so gone for them you can't think straight!"

As the scene turned into total chaos, with everyone arguing heatedly,

Jian Suiyu called out to the recruits watching nearby, "Everyone, turn in early and get some rest. You’ve been grinding hard these past few days. Sleep in two hours later tomorrow."

    "Hooray!"

As the crowd gradually dispersed, hushed discussions could be heard:

"I’d heard the Sirius heirs were all business and hard to approach, but seeing them these past few days, they’re actually really chill and down-to-earth."

"They even train alongside us, arriving earlier and leaving later than we do, and they stay to tidy up."

"Finally, a chance to catch my breath—I’m exhausted!"

"The team contacted me today—they got my mom moved from the refugee camp to the family quarters."

    "Sirius is pretty awesome."

The Jiang family members stopped what they were doing and exchanged smiles.

Jiang Huaizhi, "Let’s all head back early and rest."

After saying goodbye to everyone, Shen Que took Wu Yue's hand as they walked back.

Shen Que glanced over, "Are you tired? Want me to carry you?"

Wu Yue looked around to make sure no one was there, then reached out to Shen Que, "Carry me."

Shen Que immediately lifted Wu Yue up happily, fixed her clothes, leaned in to give her a kiss, and let her lean her head on his shoulder as they continued walking.

Shen Que's voice was right by her ear, "It's late, babe. If you're tired, just sleep. I'm here."

Back in the room, Shen Que set Wu Yue down on the bed. Drowsily, she hooked her arms around his neck, "Babe, I want to take a shower."

Shen Que's breath caught. Without hesitation, he turned and carried Wu Yue into the bathroom.

They got in the tub, and the water began running.

Wu Yue held onto him tightly the whole time, and Shen Que was completely captivated by her affectionate demeanor.

They kissed passionately, completely lost in each other.

Wu Yue eventually fell asleep against Shen Que’s shoulder, exhausted. Shen Que carried her like a princess, dressed her, and laid her on the bed.

He kissed her forehead and murmured, "Goodnight, babe."

Then, Shen Que returned to the adjacent room, his mind replaying scenes from the bathroom, unable to fall asleep for a long time.

    ...

Early the next morning, Wu Yue woke up, opened her bedroom door, and was surprised to see Shen Que sitting in the living room. She blinked in surprise.

Shen Que walked over to her, "Training's pushed back two hours today. Let’s eat first, babe. There’s still time for me to take you to therapy."

    Wu Yue nodded, "Okay."

During the meal, Wu Yue glanced at Shen Que once, then again.

    Shen Que asked, "What’s wrong?"

Wu Yue replied, "...Nothing." She decided it was better not to correct Shen Que’s weird ideas about physiology just yet—let him keep his strange ideas for a while longer.

Otherwise, he’d probably start overanalyzing everything in no time.

After breakfast, Shen Que took Wu Yue to the Jiang family’s therapy room.

Just as he was about to leave, Shen Que noticed someone carrying a newborn coming in for a check-up.

Shen Que stared at the newborn, blinking in disbelief.

Upon seeing Wu Yue, the person greeted her enthusiastically, "Miss Wu Yue!"

Wu Yue smiled and greeted them back, reaching out to coo at the baby.

"Miss Wu Yue, would you like to hold the baby?"

Wu Yue hesitated, "...I'm not sure how." The baby was too small, and she was afraid.

"We really appreciate everything you've done."

Wu Yue replied, "Don't mention it."

After the person carrying the child left, Shen Que moved closer with a confused look.

Shen Que, "Was that a child born after the apocalypse?"

Wu Yue, "Yes, it's one of the children born during the S4 event. They have pure bodies and won’t be affected by pollution anymore."

Shen Que blinked and looked at Wu Yue, "Do you want children?"

Wu Yue shook her head, "I can’t get pregnant right now."

Shen Que nodded, "Yeah." He thought so too.

After Wu Yue began her treatment, Shen Que prepared to leave.

Suddenly, he paused in his tracks.

Shen Que looked up at the PSA playing in the public area of the treatment hall.

"...Carrying out population sustainability efforts is indeed crucial for the current alliance. However, while continuing life, we also hope everyone will be more mindful of family planning, have children in the best physical condition, emphasize contraceptive awareness, and use reasonable methods for contraception..."

Shen Que watched it very seriously from start to finish, "..."

The entire trip to the training room felt surreal.

He went straight to Jian Suiyu, "Do you and Jiang Yuhua have children?"

Jian Suiyu shook his head, "No, Yu Hua plans to wait until things settle down before having children."

Shen Que, "...You once told me that women get pregnant easily..."

Jian Suiyu looked puzzled, "Didn’t you already date Wu Yue before you lost your memory? Hasn’t she told you?"

After saying this... seeing Shen Que’s face darken, Jian Suiyu immediately understood, "With how into her you are, she’s probably afraid you wouldn’t be able to control yourself."

    Shen Que, "..." No comeback!

All morning, Shen Que remained silent, looking upset.

When Wu Yue arrived with Jiang Yuhua and saw Shen Que ignoring her with a cold face, she thought it was weird.

Jiang Yuhua, "Let’s go, let’s grab food."

Shen Que turned and walked away without looking back.

Jiang Yuhua looked confused, but after Jian Suiyu whispered a few words to her, she perked up, glancing excitedly back and forth between Wu Yue and Shen Que.

Shen Que walked straight outside the training room and stood there without moving. After waiting for a while without Wu Yue showing up, he was just about to go back angrily when he saw Wu Yue catching up to him.

Shen Que was angry—what took you so long!

Wu Yue walked up to him and reached for his hand, but Shen Que shoved his hands into his pockets to avoid her grasp, turning away to avoid contact.

Wu Yue fought back a smile, pulled Shen Que’s hand out of his pocket, and held it firmly despite his resistance.

Shen Que tried to hold back but couldn’t, "Why did it take so long?"

Wu Yue, "I had to ask why you were angry. Otherwise, how could I cheer you up? I told them to go ahead without us and have the food delivered to my place."

    Shen Que fell silent again.

Wu Yue dragged him toward where she lived, but Shen Que resisted. She coaxed, "Come on, let's go."

Shen Que stayed silent. Wu Yue swung their joined hands back and forth, "Come on, let's go."

Shen Que was still acting aloof, but Wu Yue, flustered and embarrassed, flung his hand away and turned to leave.

Shen Que immediately chased after her, took Wu Yue's hand and leading her homeward.

Wu Yue was angry, "Let go of me!"

    Shen Que, "I'm still angry."

Wu Yue glared, "I'm angry too. Let's each go our own way—the world's big enough for both of us to walk separately!"

Shen Que, "Why didn't you tell me!"

Wu Yue blinked, "How could I have known you didn't know?"

Shen Que was furious, "We'd already been intimate before—how could you not know!"

Wu Yue denied it, "You knew back then. Maybe you were so curious that you looked it up yourself."

Shen Que looked at Wu Yue’s serious, self-righteous, even accusatory expression, "...Wu Yue, are you taking advantage of my memory loss to distort the facts?"

Wu Yue, with strong conviction, firmly denied it, "No way. Isn’t this just basic knowledge most people have?"

Shen Que, "..." This made Shen Que begin to question himself.

Seeing Shen Que’s attitude soften, Wu Yue immediately said with gravity, "Shen Que, you can’t always be unreasonable just because you know I like you."

Shen Que, "...Yes, it’s my problem... I won’t be like this anymore."

Wu Yue looked away, pursing her lips, thinking of every sad thing in her mind.

Wu Yue nodded, "Alright then, let’s go. Let's grab lunch—we have things to do this afternoon."

After saying that, Wu Yue walked ahead with her head down, afraid she might lose control of her emotions and give herself away to Shen Que.

Shen Que followed behind Wu Yue, still feeling something was off. Yesterday when she was showering, he had lingered outside the door without going in, and Wu Yue’s expression at the time had been quite meaningful.

Shen Que suddenly reached out and grabbed Wu Yue, gazing down at her.

Wu Yue looked back at him, puzzled, "What’s wrong?"

Shen Que didn’t speak, just kept staring at her.

    Wu Yue, "..."

Seeing Shen Que’s cold expression tinged with slight suspicion and uncertainty, Wu Yue kept telling herself: conviction! You have to have conviction!

Whatever you do, don't crack up!

Just when Shen Que started to think he was overthinking it, Wu Yue suddenly lowered her head, her shoulders shaking slightly.

Shen Que, "...Wu Yue, you’re laughing, aren’t you?"

Wu Yue slowly shook her head, her voice restrained, "You don't trust me, I'm very sad."

Shen Que, "...Do you think I can’t see that grin stretching ear to ear?"

    Wu Yue, "..."

Silence hung in the air for three seconds before Wu Yue turned and ran.

Shen Que, "..." What kind of ridiculous woman is this, ahhhh!

Shen Que let out a snort of laughter, his eyes crinkling with amusement.

He gave Wu Yue a one-minute head start before catching her, afraid he wouldn’t be able to hold back his laughter otherwise.

Just as Wu Yue stepped into the gated community, Shen Que caught her, lifted her up, and gave her a couple of light swats on the rear. She flushed bright red with anger.

Wu Yue, "You hit me! Domestic violence!"

Shen Que, "That'll teach you to keep acting up!"

Wu Yue threw her arms around Shen Que’s neck and bit him. When she tasted blood, she finally pulled back satisfied.

When Wu Yue noticed Shen Que hadn't moved, she looked up to find him gazing down at her.

Shen Que’s eyes were dark and intense, as if he wanted to pull her completely into him.

Feeling shy under his gaze, Wu Yue lowered her head. "Don’t be angry. I just worried you'd lose control if you knew."

    Shen Que, "Mm."

How could Shen Que stay angry? He was completely captivated by Wu Yue’s little performance.

Wu Yue complained petulantly, "You’ve never hit me before."

Shen Que adjusted his grip, hoisting her up higher. "I just gave you two light pats. How could I bear to actually hit you?"

Wu Yue protested illogically, "But you did hit me!"

Shen Que carried her toward their place. "Then do you want to hit me back?"

Wu Yue refused, "It wouldn’t hurt you at all when I hit you, but you hurt me!"

Shen Que felt his bones turn to jelly at her antics. "Once we’re behind closed doors, you can have your way with me, okay? Anything you say goes."

Wu Yue curled her lips. "No."

Shen Que leaned closer. "Then what do you want?"

Wu Yue hooked her arms around his neck, smiling at him without saying a word.

Honestly, Shen Que had never imagined he could be this intimate with Wu Yue before. Now that happiness had landed in his lap, he was powerless to resist.

If Wu Yue so much as smiled at him, he'd gladly give her his heart.

Shen Que looked at her with complete infatuation. "Wife, I really like you like this."

Wu Yue, "You don’t think I’m being high-maintenance?"

Shen Que shook his head. "I like it when you act like this. The more you play these games with me, the more it shows you like me, that I matter to you. What I’m really afraid of is you ignoring me, pretending you can’t see me—that would truly be the death of me."

Shen Que carried Wu Yue inside, closed the door behind him, and leaned over to press her onto the bed.

Wu Yue cupped his face and whispered, "Husband."

    Shen Que, "Mm, my wife."

Wu Yue, "Can we connect spiritually?"

Shen Que, "Okay, you teach me."

As they released their spiritual energies, the forces gradually intertwined. Their eyes locked, breaths mingling, moving closer and closer....
